"Wheelchair Friendly Lodging."
I did read the reviews left by others and thought for a short three night stay, it would be okay. It was definitely worse than what I expected as far as wheelchair accessibility. The hotel's entrance is on James Avenue but the wheelchair entrance is off Lincoln Road between two storefronts through two wrought iron gates and a security coded glass door. However, many times the gates were locked and I would have to call to get them to unlock them so I could enter the property. Several times, they could not find the keys to unlock the gates so I entered via the alley entrance off James Avenue, north of the property. It was a ramped service entrance for deliveries and so it was pretty steep. If I had been alone, it would have been worse because many times they did not answer the phone and I had to send my companion inside to get them to unlock the gates or let me in through the alley entrance. As for my room, it had two twin beds that were the lumpiest mattresses I have ever slept on. Also, the height of the bed was at 22 inches, which was a little bit of a jump for a manual wheelchair user. The bathroom was ample size but the shower area was not sloped properly so you had to lay towels on the floor so the water did not flood the bathroom. The floor, walls and door showed definite wear from the shower water constantly escaping. The floor in front of the bathroom was sloped downward into the sleeping area so you had to go over it each time you entered the room. The closet in the room had double sliding (15 inches wide) doors, which made it impossible to access. The safe was located in this closet so it was definitely unusable for a wheelchair user. The room had a small refrigerator that worked well but the sound it emitted was loud. The hotel does not have parking so you must use their Valet service or find parking yourself. Since they don't have a sidewalk cutout for the Valet drop-off area, you will have to go up to Lincoln Road via the street and access the sidewalk cutout there. My recommendation is to not stay here if you want to come and go as you please.
"Convenient no frills short stay"
Stayed there for a night before boarding our cruise - the Port of Miami is about a 15 minute cab ride away. Hotel needs to be better maintained as it looks a bit tired. Staff service was mixed, especially reception staff could be more welcoming. Also we got a lot of road noise in our room and carry through of noise from other rooms. However, we got a voucher for a welcome cocktail voucher at their bar, breakfast at 12 dollars per head was good value. Rooms were of reasonable standard with free Wi-Fi. Its key selling point is that it is a 5 minute walk to the beach ( South Beach) and situated in the vicinity of many shops, restaurants and amenities. There even is a hotel pool. Ok hotel for a short stop over, or if you don’t intend to spend much time in the hotel. Would probably stay there again if we were taking another cruise.
Reasonable price for a great location. Staff very service oriented. Noisy if guests arrive late and speak in the hallway. Rooms are good but could use an update. Carpet is old fashioned. Lobby is fashion, bar feels dirty and service is regular. Stores and restaurants closeby as well as Convention Center and beach (2 blocks away).
"My wife and I spent a short vacation at this hotel."
This hotel was lacking in some of the basics. The business office was basically a desktop monitor located on the mezzanine. The printer, which is at the front desk at the lobby level, did not work properly. This caused me to have to travel between the two floors in order to have the staff resolve the issue. There was no fan in our bathroom. Also, there was not a coffee pot in the room. Also, the handle was broken on the toilet that we had to jiggle to make it flush. In fairness, we did not complain since this was a "no hassle" and "no stress" trip and we did not find any of these issues to be big enough to bring to management's attention. On a positive note, there is Wi-Fi but it seemed to be weak. Finally, the staff was helpful and the decor is attractive.
