"not ADA compliant"
Because no elevators were working, we had to walk up TWO flights of stairs to go the restaurant Hakkasan. The SURLY security guard told us that the three elevators were not working. When we asked for a GM, he said "no". We were a party of 13 & spent a considerable amount at the restaurant. The server, Daniel (He said he formerly worked at the pool for 3 yrs. & this was his 1st day as a server at Hakkasan) He was delightful!! An excellent waiter. When we left, we were told that the elevators were working. When we pressed the down button, an announcement came on to say that there was an emergency & to evacuate the hotel & not to use the elevators! Strange that there was NO EVACUATION & the hotel was operating without any interruptions???? Two in our party were disabled (one with crutches, the other senior citizen with a cane) Egress was EXTREMELY difficult!!! Why is there no ADA compliance in such a huge hotel? Are they exempt from federal regulations? Is it because they are famous landmark hotel???
"Service has greatly improved in past couple of years, but rooms can be hit or miss."
I having been staying at the Fontainebleau at least once a year almost every year since it reopened after bankruptcy. Typically when I'm visiting the hotel is booked solid for a large industry trade show starting the same day as weekend partiers exit -- this means there can be a long wait for a room. One tip - if you are going for business, go a day early if room selection is an issue for you. I was spoiled on my first visit - with an upgrade to an ocean suite. Since then room views have been as bad as the air conditioning equipment but this time at least I had the coastal waterway view. Ask for that if you can't get ocean view. Make sure you don't get the elevator shafts or air conditioning as it can add to the noise Halls are noisy -- so take earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Location on the boardwalk is fantastic, however beach area and pool becomes extremely crazy on weekends. If you enjoy - you will have a great time. The different areas and types of seating can accommodate almost every type. And make your spa appointments early too if the hotel is going to be full. Its a wonderful spa and it fills up fast. There's a restaurant to fit almost every type - and that's good because there a fewer options at this end of the beach. Bathrooms are nice but not over the top - I do appreciate the good lighting and the amenities. Housekeeping could tell I used a lot of lotion and I never ran out. Towels are also very nice - I appreciate when some luxury hotels seem to cut back. Getting a taxi was not a problem -- however having to walk from the main tower what seems to be a quarter of a mile at 4 am to make an early flight to pick up the taxi seemed to take forever. I prefer smaller hotels with less activity. However, if you like the on site night clubs, multiple restaurants, some shops along with a great pool and the beach - you could walk in on Friday afternoon and not have to leave the premises until you check. And if unfortunately you have to work -- wi fi is reliable and hi speed. No dropped files during this visit.
It should be one of the biggest and most iconic hotels in Miami. The entire setting is massive and the moment you walk in to the hotel it puts you in awe. Almost all Hollywood personalities have stayed there and it was a pleasure being there. Service is great and views just awesome
I've been twice and I love, love it there. Great Hotel, rooms immaculate, beach, views and water just breathtaking. The boardwalk is awesome for those of you who like to jog or just take a walk and enjoy the view. The staff, great!
"Beach awesome omg rich cool people wow"
We felt like true privileged 1%'ers when we interloped into the hotel and then the pool zone and had [super dumb expensive] food and $18 marghs at La Cote and saw Kendrick Lamar, then went down to the beach and got set up on some chairs in the sun, got served on by really sweet local employees named Sierra (sp?) & Ryan Gonzalez - they kept things lively and fun and we had a good ol' chat. Then we walked on the beach past the hilarious SOHO House and laughed at all the fools, and pointed and laughed at the giant LED advertisement barge cruising up and down the beach for all the suckers to ogle at. Good times!
