"Impeccable Pool Service"
Our pool experience would not have been as memorable without our amazing server...Diana! She was extremely attentive, professional and very sweet. We will definitely visit her section again in the future.
"Bugs - and terrible customer service to match"
First off, this is my first highly negative review in 10 plus years on TripAdvisor. I would never go out of my way to harshly review a hotel unless absolutely deserved. In this case, I was staying at the Fontainebleau for probably my 3rd or 4th time for an annual work conference. The property I have reviewed before as nice and very large with many restaurants, bars etc and a large pool area such that the place is very entertaining for group events but certainly has a factory type feel so not my fist choice for a vacation. However, I would disregard even focusing on the property itself given this property may have the worst management and customer service I have ever experienced at a hotel. I presume its because of the size of the property and the amount of guests which funnel in and out each day. Upon my last trip's check in, I was told my king bed room was not available (which I had already booked) so they were putting me in a double queen. Not a big deal or worth complaining about in the scheme of things, so I didn't say anything but just keep it in mind as the story goes on. So I wake up the next morning at 7am to go to my conference and my room is swirling with little ants. They were on the beds, the walls, the carpet, the bathroom and the dressers. Lots of the tiny fast moving ones. I called the front desk immediately and asked for a room change and for someone to come assist with bags. I was told I couldn't switch to a different room unless housekeeping came and verified there were actual bugs, which I found strange but maybe they have a problem with people pretending to complain about bugs to get an upgrade so while that is a poor initial response already I played along nicely. As I waited for housekeeping, I began packing my bags (and trying to shake out all my clothes and bags which also had ants crawling on and in them). I waited for over an hour and a half with my bags in the hallway for housekeeping to finally show up (after I called to check on them 3-4 times) and tell me that yes I would need to switch rooms as there was a bug problem. I proceeded to the lobby and was told by the front desk that I would have a new room later in the day, but not until early afternoon. Thats a problem considering I was here for a work conference and needed to shower, get dressed and clean the ants off my clothes, etc to actual meet clients and attend the conference. The front desk advised there was nothing they could do to help in terms of a courtesy room or bathroom to shower, etc. After sitting in the lobby for 2 hours and missing my morning meetings, I was able to connect with a friend and borrow his room to get showered and dressed. Finally, at 2:30pm the front desk called and had an "upgraded" new room ready. I politely told them I was obviously not paying for a night of sleeping with ants all over my room and in my luggage, and the response from the 21 year old manager was that "the hotel is not responsible for ants in the room as they are close to the water and its fairly typical". Because the room was occupied they would not waive the room charge. They offered me a $100 housekeeping credit an to waive the $35 resort fee. The staff at the desk was incredibly unhelpful and dismissive. I am a very easy going person and could have made a huge scene but instead tried to reason with people who had absolutely no sense of customer service. I will never stay at this property again nor will I or American Express be paying for this $540 per night room as I disputed the night's room charge. The hotel responded to AMEX that I asked to change rooms because I didn't get a king bed, and that they fixed it by upgrading me the next night. They claimed they have no record of complaints about bugs. Now they are not only incompetent, but they are liars too. For my next conference if it is at Fontainebleau again, I will stay at a nearby hotel and come here for the party. The hotel is lucky I took mostly videos which TripAdvisor doesn't let you upload, but check out the pic of my bed's headboard attached and you decide for yourself if you want to stay at a supposed high end resort where this is a "fairly common occurrence because you're close to the water."
"Disappointing visit to a fabled hotel"
This hotel is more like an 18-30s resort.Our room was excellent and had everything one could desire. There are many pools in the grounds surrounded in artificial grass.The sunloungers are so close together you would not want to fall out with the person beside yo!.It was anything but peaceful lying there with a constant throbbing of music .It was a case of Guess That Tune as all you could hear was the beat.We sat on our balcony after dinner and at 11pm they started power hosing the grounds - we could not hear ourselves speak.Despite complaining this went on till 1am. The restaurants and there are many -are grossly over priced and 18% service charge is added .4 Gin and tonics in the lobby bar $85. Dinner for 4 - without wine in Strip Steak was $458.It was good but nothing special.The staff are excellent and very welcoming and helpful. The beach is beautiful and staff there helpful and at least you don't get the throbbing music but it is on the flight path to Miami Airport which is busy and hence very noisy from the planes getting into position to land. Things may have been different when Frank Sinatra stayed here but I would not choose to stay here again.
"Amazing Valet Service!!"
I visit the Fontainebleau a couple times a year when my sister and her family come down south. The hotel is simply amazing, but one thing that is especially exceptional is the valet service. Alcides, the valet supervisor, makes sure me and my father are always well taken care of! I look forward to many more visits in the future!
"Great place to throw a party!"
We rented the penthouse here for a party during a film market there and this hotel is amazing. We loved the art deco feel of it. It could possibly be updated a bit, however was just fine for us. Beautiful views.
