"Disappointing- Noise and hidden costs"
My wife and I (50’s) are currently staying 4 nights at the Fontainebleau. We have travelled extensively and have never posted a review that has negative comments ...until now. Firstly let us state that the staff are great and the rooms and grounds also. Our concern started at check in when we were informed that whilst we booked a “King - Chateau/Versailles Oceanfront Balcony Room†we were allocated a room with 2 queen beds. We were disappointed. Secondly at check-in we also were informed that there is an extra $29.95US per day fee to access internet and basically be able to lay on a sun lounge on the beach. We treat this as a hidden extra. Unexpected and likely hidden in fine print somewhere. Our real concern however is that the apparent demographic that the Fontainebleau is targeting is sub 35 year olds as there is very loud music from two competing venues around the pool complex during the day. My wife and I had to retreat to the beach to escape the noise which made conversation very difficult. We both love music of all sorts but not at disco level in each ear around a pool complex. The main bar had the same music volume issue and talking with friends was very difficult. We spoke to many guests who also stated exactly the same concerns about the exceptionally loud music. PLUS when you get to the beach you have to pay an extra $25US to have an umbrella. Hidden cost again and something we have never encounter anywhere around the globe. Disappointed. Also there was no free bottled water in the rooms at all, again something we expected at a hotel such as Fontainebleau. Disappointing experience. Ray & Roz Australia
The room has a lot of issues. Dirty carpet, dirty bathtub, dirty toilet, leaking shower with very low pressure. Towels are outworn. There were no laundry bags in the room, until requested several times . There was only one bathrobe, until requested the second(the room is for two). Hotel doesn’t provide slippers at all. Breakfast costs 36$ for a very little choice of food and is subject for mandatory taxes and a 20$ service fee, moreover they provide only orange juice or coffee, tea and hot chocolate are for additional charge. The umbrellas at the beach are open only for the setup, but if you want to use an umbrella it costs additional 25$. Water in the room is 10$/bottle! Same water at the supermarket costs 2,70$... Food in all restaurants is almost the same, so I don’t understand why they need to have 5 of them. At the beach, there are cabanas at the front for almost 200$! and it is not allowed to place the beach chairs neither near nor in front of them. The sun chairs are located so close to each other, that even when you raise your head you can see somebodies feet in front of it. The hotel manager didn’t call back on time to try to resolve the problems. Would not recommend this hotel and won’t return here in any circumstances.
"Hotel not for me!"
I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. Our initial thoughts when we checked in was ‘wow’, an impressive hotel but sadly that all changed. This is a huge hotel with 4 blocks (I think), our room seemed to be furthest away from anywhere (possibly our fault as it was booked as part of a package deal). The room itself was really nice and spacious, the bathroom was also nice however, we were very disappointed with the cleanliness. The basin in the bathroom had the previous peoples ‘scum’ around it and beside the bed, I stepped on someone else’s toe/finger nails, there was also a lot of dust on the fixtures, fittings and underneath the chairs and other furniture. We complained about the cleanliness of the bathroom and the nails on the floor and they apologised, waived the hotel fee and promised to get it sorted. Unfortunately this didn’t happen and my husband ended up cleaning the basin himself - not good. Our fist night we were woken by loud, screaming, giggly girls/ladies in the adjoining room at about 1:30 am, it went on for ages so we called reception. They sent security up to knock on the door but they took so long, the noise had subsided and we were back to sleep only to be woken again by security calling asking which room the noise was coming from. The pool area is very impressive, huge area and a few pools and bars. However, the different bars seemed to be ‘competing’ for who can play the loudest music! It was not easy to ‘relax’ and enjoy the area. The ‘pool boys’who were meant to prepare the lounges with towels when you arrived were clearly only interested in young, pretty girls/ladies so we didn’t stand a chance. Our second stay was similar although they had upgraded us to a different room which was in a better location and actually clean. We were woken at 5am by somebody (staff member) talking very loudly and in a heavy accent, coming through a speaker in the room. Unfortunately, we couldn’t understand what was being said, we think it was to do with a fire alarm but we didn’t hear it. 5 mins later another message through the speaker which we think said ‘false alarm’. Overall, although a lovey looking hotel with nice rooms and facilities, the bars and restaurants Charge extortionate prices for drinks and food which you have no choice but to pay as it is a long way from anywhere, the noise level is horrendous. Definitely not a hotel I would recommend or return to. Another disappointing point, on our return home, we noticed we had been charged $373.87 - we have queried with the hotel as or bill was $0. They have confirmed it was a mistake and are going to refund. We are still waiting for the money to be credited back to us.
"Highest levels of service on Miami Beach..."
I was fortunate enough to bring the fam down for the kids school vacation in April. Upon arrival we were provided an upgrade by the front desk to a bigger suite to accommodate our 5 children. The entire valet team accommodated all of my requests (and I had a lot) for our car. The cleaning team on the 31st floor of Tresor were terrific. On our beach day, the service on the beach for our section was amazing! Laura provided an amazing experience for my family and I. Understand that the vibes here help you to relax and enjoy Miami Beach at a baller level. Spa day was amazing. And did you know you can purchase items in the gift shop and have it billed to your room? Convenience in my line of business is as valuable as money itself. If you’re considering this place for a getaway, celebration, retreat or overall experience while on Miami Beach...there’s no other way to do it 💯
"Great Day at the Fountainbleau"
Recently traveled to Miami to meet my nephew who just retired from the Air Force as an F16 Squadron Leader. We decided to make it an unforgettable experience so we booked at the Fontainebleau. It was a wonderful experience. Services, accommodations and attention were impeccable. Other than a glitch getting served slow at the bar, everything just clicked. The La Vida restaurant was great for dinner and for Breakfast. If you want to have a very nice time with a special person, the Fontainebleau is the plkace.
