"The best family hotel in Miami "

   23-02-2017
Whenever we decide to travel with kids down to Miami we always choose the Loews. The rooms are always very clean and the service level is superb. All the staff is very friendly and work hard to accommodate guests. A big thank you to Andrea in guest service for accommodating us with our late flight. Daniela at the front desk was also very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Great job everyone.

"Great remodel but underwhelming experience"

   23-02-2017
We recently visited the Loews over President's Day Weekend. I get that it was a busy time - but from the moment we checked in things were disappointing. First, the room configuration we were guaranteed was not available and the woman at the front desk tried to tell us that it didn't even exist. Once the manager came out - he did acknowledge that it existed - but that the rooms were rare and had been given to someone else (we did appreciate his honesty). Our "family" vacation where we had hoped to be together ended up with my husband and I sleeping in different rooms so that we could be with our various kids. They did sort this situation out the next night (and did comp us one room for the night) but after way too much discussion, debate and effort on our part with the front desk. In addition, the pool was crazy crowded and for $1,300 a night - we couldn't get a pool chair unless we grabbed one by 7:00 a.m. - really? Even if you were lucky enough to get a chair - everyone was on top of each other. The rooms were on the small side - but nicely renovated. The bathrooms are very small and the water pressure is terrible. The elevators were so crowded, that we had to wait forever and when you were lucky enough to get on one - it was a long haul down - with elevators stopping on every floor - even when filled to capacity. When you start on the 18th floor - it is a frustrating ride down. They had water in the lobby and out by the pool - but there were never any cups. The food in the restaurants was excellent and the wait staff was very friendly. The beach is lovely - although getting drinks and food out at the beach area was very slow. The location is fantastic. We walked everywhere, and maybe that in itself is how this hotel does so well, but for the price - we will stay somewhere else next time we visit. I had an opportunity to see lots of hotels while walking along the lovely beach front path in front of the hotel and none of them had the crowded pool scene like the Loews. While they are known to be "family friendly" which is great - my idea of family friendly isn't screaming kids with way too many animal pool floats pool floats with zero chance of getting a pool chair at a decent hour. I noticed a quieter family friendly hotel on my walk called the Edition. I think it is a Hilton - but that might be my choice the next time we visit.

"Great Hotel And Staff, Renovations Some Good, Some Bad, More Needed!"

   22-02-2017
We had another fun vacation at the Loews this past December during Christmas week. As previously mentioned, we've been here over 20 times since 2002 when it opened, and are usually here twice a year. We keep coming back, as the location is excellent, and their food and service is well above average. We know the staff well and they're always accommodating, helpful, prompt and friendly. The VIP manager Andrea, and her team Sydney and Shan once again provided outstanding service and exceptional hospitality. Service with a smile I would say. No concern too small, and no request was too great. We were given a beautiful room upgrade as the first room had a problem, so we had to move. Bell service was very helpful in re-settling us in a beautiful full oceanfront premium room for our troubles, and staff was very apologetic and efficient throughout. Speaking of the rooms, they were renovated which includes no more carpet, which I love! So much cleaner, especially since they allow dogs here for too many guests that feel the need to inflict their annoying dogs on others who DON'T want to sleep in a room a dog was in, which is a PET PEEVE for me, but that's what they do, cater to pets. In fact, I was sneezing a lot and hoped the room was properly cleaned. I would say they should've left it completely bare though, as they still have straw rugs under the beds, which still trap dust and hair, and are not necessary. Bare wood only, would've been perfect, and I'd feel better if my blanket or pillow accidentally hit the bare wood and not a straw mat. Beds need to be upgraded to TWO QUEENS PLEASE! A room with two full size beds is TOO SMALL. Most adults are not comfortable sleeping in a full size bed together. The army green walls are gone, which was an ugly color I never understood for an oceanfront hotel, and now they're off white. I know there are a zillion people who like boring wall color, but I am not sure why they'd not get a bit adventurous with color. People on vacation might really enjoy the mood that great color can create. It can elevate a plain room into something truly special. I'd have turquoise blues, periwinkle, lavender or sea foam greens, with pinks and coral tones. Give it a true tropical paradise feel, and for no more money than it cost for white paint, the rooms could be so much better with colors of the tropics. The room atmosphere and mood could be fantastic with the stroke of a colorful brush, and so easily. Still no privacy curtain in the bathroom in front of clear shower doors. Again, I see others share my sentiments about not wanting to be on display while showering. I hope someday I'll see those installed. A lock on the loud roaring and rolling glass bathroom door would also help. Water pressure is not impressive, and the shower heads are the awful low flow kind. Maid service was courteous and friendly. Remember to put the green light on by the door when you're leaving, or your room won't be serviced. The pool area was still not completed when we were there, and we look forward to seeing it when it's done. We had excellent service from Radost at the pool. They have an excellent staff of friendly help that has become like our vacation family. Everyone greets us like that whenever we are here, which is one of the reasons we love staying here. Hotel manager Alex T. along with assistant hotel manager Chris T. and their associate Mr. M, are also always very warm, and hands on. They're never too busy to stop and chat for a moment, and always take the time to greet us whenever they see us. Raoul the valet manager is super friendly, and always greets us if he's around, as we wait for our transportation to arrive. The carport is being run efficiently, and this time the valets were always polite. Great job! The only issue I was disappointed by is due to the ladies room renovation at the pool. For some crazy reason, they ruined the nice private, classy poolside bathrooms, and took away the PRIVACY COMPLETELY! At the time we visited, the men's room was still the same. My advice is, cancel any more renovations of bathrooms. I doubt I'm alone when I say that I used to like the completely private bathroom booths with solid walls ceiling to floor, all tiled, and with a nice wood door with slats. Privacy is important. All that made the bathrooms private for guests, is now gone, gutted and torn out, then replaced with commonly mass designed, shiny cheap cobalt blue stalls, much like you'd see in your local fast food restaurant. The color is nice, but they should've painted the WALLS this color instead, and left the old private well constructed, solid walled, tiled, floor to ceiling separate room cubby bathrooms. Who doesn't love a totally private public bathroom stall? Unfortunately, someone thought, if it's not broke, let's break it! Now gone are the days of privacy and it's a shame. No longer can you keep your business to yourself, and be spared other people's business in turn. This is thanks to a cheap design with thin plastic blue shiny walls that are high off the floor, and open to your neighbor on top and on the bottom of each stall. This means lots of noise from everyone and that includes what you could not hear before, need I say more? Worse case if you're in there with someone in a stall full of kids, you can have kids looking under since it's not even a low divider. Expect stray hands appearing under the wall, and in your stall. Bags, and clothes, toys or whatever else, on the floor, ending up in your stall from next door. Before, there was no chance of that. Now there's NO PRIVACY as you can hear and even worse, actually SEE whoever is next to you! Not only are the walls high from the floor, they don't even fully reach to the door in front of the stalls. The walls come to an open ended wall with space between the walls and door, which has at least an inch gap and is mirrored at the end, reflecting your neighbor in the next stall! Besides that, the walls and doors are all shiny! Now, you can see people in the stalls next to you, and in turn, they can see YOU! Bad enough you get a panoramic view of yourself in there which is not a thrill in a bathroom, to make it even worse, as mentioned previously, they actually have a shiny silver mirrored block attaching the door panel and the short walls I describe, at the front of each stall between stalls, that gives a mirror clear picture reflected from next door on both sides of you. I was stunned and angry. It was nice and classy, well made, and there was no reason to turn it into a cheap looking, plastic, generic public toilet for a voyeur peeper to be thrilled about. Not for a person who values their privacy! Aside from that, 3 stalls didn't even lock, and the automated sinks were a struggle. I wish people could turn a faucet on like the old days. The Loews has undergone so many changes, but one thing remains constant. The Loews Miami, offers great location, service, staff, and for this reason, we will keep returning. Great for families, couples and more with room for improvement in some areas. But, all in all, a great place to stay while you're vacationing in South Beach. We look forward to coming back soon and seeing the rest of the completed renovations, which hopefully, will be improvements we enjoy.

"Recommended!"

My stay was for two nights and I was pleased with the hospitality and courtesy provided. The food in the lounge was excellent and I'd like to specifically mention Robyn, one of the bartenders where I had dinner both nights, who was especially professional, attentive and accommodating and made special provisions for my dinner arrangements after my long day while I was (quietly) trying to enjoy it in a very loud atmosphere. The facility has a resort atmosphere outside and conveniently right on the boardwalk where I could get my daily run in. The decor inside was very Cosmopolitan and not necessarily to my taste but it was well kept and clean. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again. R #612

"St. Moritz was bliss"

   22-02-2017
My husband and I stayed at Loews to attend a conference Feb 4-7. I was worried about some of the reviews. We stayed in the smaller building called St. Moritz. The room was smaller than most US rooms, but modern, clean and bathroom was very spacious. The pool was packed, but it was the height of the season. Honestly, unless you had children I did not see the appeal of the pool as the beach is gorgeous. The beach service was excellent. Every beach activity is available at the hotel's beach. The area was perfect. One block up is Lincoln Ave and the pedestrian zone with shops and cafes. One block south is the Art Deco Strip area with all the nightlife you could possibly take in. One block north is a Walgreens with a smoothy bar or anything you need at a reasonable price. Everything is handy. They do charge a $30 resort fee and if you plan on sitting on the beach in a chair, it is worth the charge.
