"SLOW CHECK-IN ... ROOM NOT READY ON_TIME"
Arrived after taking a three day cruise to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral. Upon arrival and entering the check-in line, we had to wait over 15 minutes before we were served. Upon checking in, we were told our room wasn't ready yet but they'd text us the room number. Approximately 30 minutes later, we received a text that directed us to return to check-in desk to receive our room number. At this time, it was around 4:30 pm. However, I do understand that Hurricane Irma had only left days ago and they were probably playing catch up as their on-line app for reserving rooms noted ZERO rooms available.
"It's exactly what it's meant to be.. a Value Resort"
This is my 4th visit to the All Star Sports resort. I love the benefits of staying on property. The restaurant in site is decently fast, staff is friendly, food is decent and large portions. Wish the beds were larger than full size beds but they are comfortable. The rooms are clean. Would stay again.
"Great hotel, little bit isolated and buses are a nightmare"
Having just spent two weeks here I have mixed reviews. First of all I can't fault the hotel, with oversized icons and two great pools. It was clean and tidy always and all the staff were really friendly. Rooms are made up everyday and the air con in the rooms are outstanding. Massive queen size bed too. My minor thing with the hotel is the price of the food and drink available. The food is overpriced and the juice or water is massively overpriced but being how far you are from everything you have no choice in the matter. Sort of ruined the experience for me after how much I paid for the holiday. It needs a convienence store close by so you have the choice, just seemed like Disney cashing in to me. The buses out front are a complete nightmare. You can wait up to forty minutes for a bus then a disabled customer with a scooter just skips in front with all their families, on one occasion I counted nine family members with them. Three seats for the scooter out of action and nine seats already taken before anyone else gets on. This is a complete joke. The line had about forty to fifty people getting in the bus so needed three busses for all. They arrived one at a time. The wee guy with a walkie talkie directing the buses was no help at all. In the morning at rush times surely more buses could be directed to accommodate all the passengers waiting to go the parks in which they have paid a great deal of money for, not to stand around waiting for three busses. Sorry for the rant but it is something that needs to be addressed and addressed quick. This will put people off returning. All in all the hotel is quality but busses very poor and a bit isolated. If I return to Disney I will be going to a busier area and a bit closer to amenities
"Disney all star sports"
The rooms a very basic, The one we had was a reasonable sized room with 2 beds, a small 2 person table 2 wood chairs and a unit with a couple of draws, there were 2 beds which i will say were very comfortable, and a tv. though a pair of curtains was a wall safe, a bar to hang cloths and a sink, to the right was the bathroom/toilet. The good points there was a hair dryer, an iron and the safe was free. The tv unlike most hotels was a decent size with again unlike many hotels had a decent amount of channels in English ( i know America speak English ) Bad points the toilet was very noisy as were the rooms each side. Very little storage space. Every time it rained there was no signal to the TV. The hotel in our opinion could do with offering much more, the food was very basic and very limited in choice, There was no evening entertainment on, there was a small games arcade, outdoor swimming pools, a small outside bar which was very expensive and a small Disney shop. The reception seemed to be all ways busy so there was quite long waiting times. The Disney shuttles left every fifteen to twenty minutes to the parks etc. The location as said the shuttles take you to the parks, there is nothing in the area other than a fifteen minute walk to a McDonalds, there are no buses so to go any where you need to go by Taxi which can make an expensive week ( get the uber app and use them they charge a fraction of the price of a normal taxi ) Also book your fast passes for the rides before you leave the hotel
We were on a budget and we expected this to be a low end place. I didn't expect the step back in time I got though. It's setup like a 1970's motel. Let's start with the good. The rooms were clean and the Mousekeeping staff was great. We got different animals made every day and it really made the kids look forward to what they would make each day. The room also has a small safe to keep valuables you aren't taking to the parks. The pool was pretty nice and there are inflatable balls around the area for everyone to play with. Now on to the bad. The carpets looked like the design was supposed to have yellow, but it was so faded it was barely noticeable. There are very few outlets (I counted 2) and they are so worn out plugs fall out. This makes it hard to recharge phones, etc. Our shower control knob was so worn out it wouldn't hold itself and keep the temperature, it kept going too hot. They still have the pull out clothesline in the shower so I tied a knot in the end and used this to hold the control knob. We ran out of hot water 3 times during our week long trip so that meant we couldn't all take showers. Our fluorescent lights over the sink took a while to "warm up" so we turned them on then jumped in the shower. By the time the shower was over, the lights were full brightness. The cafeteria reminded me of a hospital cafeteria. We went to several other resorts that had much nicer cafeterias. The budget experience also carried over to the bus service. While waiting on the All Start Sports bus at parks, we would see 3 busses from other resorts before a single bus for us.
