"Best themed hotel at Disney World"
This is hands down the best themed hotel at Disney World. We had a savannah view and loved watch the animal in the morning and at night. The restaurants at the hotel are great! Wish it was closer to all the park and just not Animal Kingdom, but that's a very minor complaint. If you can afford a deluxe resort stay here!
"Absolutely amazing family holiday"
We visited as a family of four and absolutely loved this hotel. The lobby is breathtaking, it's just so big and beautiful, there were always drummers playing and generally something going on. We booked a standard room and were lucky enough to be allocated a bunk room with a partial view of the zebra trail which was incredible. When we were checking in I just asked if there were any rooms with a view of the animals and they were happy to check and oblige so definitely worth an ask. I loved waking up and having my morning coffee looking out at giraffes and zebras although I have to say after day 1 the kids weren't too bothered! If you don't get a room with a view don't worry as there are lots of places to look at the animals. The pool was great and most days the kids would have been happy to stay here rather than go to the parks, we walked to kidani a couple of times and the pool there is also great with spray fountains and things. It's good to have the option to mix things up a bit. The quick service restaurant was fine, as others have said a little dark and the queues could be long at certain times but it was ok for breakfast or a quick lunch. I had planned a couple of dinners here but after the first one we got a taxi elsewhere as it's no more than ok. The buffet restaurant is fab, lots of choice really good quality and a nice ambiance. The general theming of the hotel is wonderful and there's attention to lots of small details so it's lovely to just walk about and take everything in. The transportation worked well and I don't think we ever waited more than 20 minutes for a bus and often much less, we also used über for the times we couldn't be bothered waiting and id recommend that for getting to the water parks or other resort hotels which is more of a hassle. Overall I'd enthusiastically recommend this hotel and I'd love to return some time although for now I'm all Disney'd out.
"Brilliant 2 weeks"
Stayed here with our 3 & 5 year old. We loved it. We had a savannah room with bunk beds which the kids enjoyed. You see all the animals perfectly at all times of the day from the balcony. We were on the dining plan and the food choices were fine for us at the animal kingdom lodge but we mainly only took breakfast here out with the occasional snack. Pools were great. Both have slides. Life vests available for non swimmers. Open till 10pm. Be sure to also use the pool and splash park at kidani. You can walk or get the little mini bus. I used the gym a few times more than adequate for a hotel gym. Can get busy in the morning but it was empty at night. The hotel shows movies at night from around 20:30 at the pool side. You can check online to see timetable. Room service was 5 stars. My only issue would be that in 2017 at a Disney resort the tv should be a smart tv with on demand Disney services, similar to that on the cruises. Location wise; you need to get the shuttle bus everywhere. This was fine for us with our kids age but if you're kids are older where you might want to venture back out most nights to see fireworks etc you may want to stay closer to magic kingdom / Disney springs.
"Absolutely loved staying here!"
Recently spent 5 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Absolutely loved waking up each morning (and going to bed each night) to the animals off of our deck. We had so much fun using the guide to find so many different creatures! The room was very clean, decorated nicely, and pretty quiet. Down side was the size of the room. It was far smaller than our room the week before at the Polynesian. We were cramped, with limited storage. They truly need to upgrade the dressers and move away from the old converted TV storage units. They make for little storage and super small TVs. The wall safe with a key was beyond annoying too. Who wants to carry a key with them to the park? Other than that, absolutely no complaints. Will absolutely stay here again!
"Great hotel, just wish it was more central!"
This was my first time in a "Deluxe Resort" - taking advantage of the 'Free Deluxe Dining Plan' that is available to UK guests. having stayed in both moderate and value on previous trips, there are definite benefits to staying in a deluxe, but also a few catches... Benefits. Firstly - the detail & theme of this hotel, as a deluxe, are far beyond the moderate resorts. The hotel was stunning - the decor throughout was amazing. It felt like an escape to another world - everything Disney is about. Secondly - food offerings were varied and great by Disney standards. The assumption that all US food consists of Burgers and Fries is unfair - if you were to only eat in the hotel (ignoring the parks) then you wouldn't eat the same thing twice. Jiko was well worth the use of 2 dining credits! Thirdly - the view. Even our 'standard' view was of the Savannah, the animals were amazing and being able to wake up, look out of the window and see the wildlife was incredible. Fourth - Amenities. The pool was far better than the moderate, with more room and 'fun' to be had - including a pool bar for adults. The benefits stretch beyond the parks too, with 'closer' bus stops at the majority of the parks, better services from staff members and an all round 'VIP experience'. The downsides. Really, this is less about the hotel, and more about its location on WDW property. Its at the very edge - almost off site, when you look on google maps. This meant that transport to the parks (other than animal kingdom) took a lot longer than the Moderate we stayed in (Port Orleans). This created an issue on a couple of occasions when trying to meet meal reservations. I suppose this accounts for its lower room price than other on property Deluxe hotels. Would I stay here again? Certainly. The deluxe experience was worth the extra cash (food, surroundings and all). But would I book here next time... probably not. Personally, I'd want to be more central and try another hotel in the Disney Springs area.
