"Worth experiencing it for the Animals"
After staying four nights at Boardwalk, we transferred for one night at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The views of the animals on the grounds are fabulous. We spent several hours out on our balcony watching the animals and birds as they came and went on the savanna. That alone was worth the experience of staying there for one night. The lobby is impressive and beautiful. Valet service and bell service were as expected from a Disney property. Additionally, the concierge assisted me with a billing question in a very helpful and friendly manner. However, the room was somewhat of a disappointment, especially for a Disney deluxe property. While clean, it was much smaller than the rooms at the Boardwalk - almost too small for the queen bed and bunk bed. There was a scarcity of outlets and lighting in the room - and no charging station or anything convenient for devices. We were unimpressed with the check-in and check-out process. Our room was not ready at check-in time, which I realize cannot always be prevented. And we were not emailed a summary of charges the next morning, which has always been the standard Disney approach. We are glad we had the experience, but likely will not return. There are other Disney properties that are a better value for the cost, and are more convenient to the theme park locations.
"Beautiful & Unique Resort"
The resort was the best one we have stayed at while visiting Disney World. We experienced excellent service from the lobby staff checking in to the mousekeepers cleaning our rooms. The beds were great, and the best sleep I've had while at Disney. The resort has many viewing areas to watch the exotic animals. With activities in the lobby, roasting marshmallows at the fire pit, and a large hot tub, you really would not have to leave to go to the parks to enjoy your visit. BOMA restaurant on site is one of our favorites for their breakfast buffet. We loved this place and splurged on this visit!
"Unimaginable Magic after 30 years!"
It's been 30 years since I took my children to DisneyWorld....and this time I took my grandsons who are ages 5 & 7 years old. Because they both love wildlife, we decided to stay "at the Lodge" so we could experience what it would be like to be on "safari". Our jaws dropped when our magic bus delivered us to the Animal Kingdom Lodge straight from the airport. Mere words can't describe the intricate details put into every facet of this hotel. The grand lobby is vast but filled with tribal garments, drums and many other items. The ornate carvings could only be brought by Disney, and the service is 5-star plus. Our room was complete with a set of bunk beds for the boys, and three huge balconies outfitted with wonderfully comfortable chairs that overlook the wild animals who are eating just below. If your family is wild for adventure, this is one place you need to be!
WOW! Just wow....can't say how awesome this experience was! First of all: you look outside your room and you are adjacent to open areas where the musk ox, giraffe, and more roam! That alone does it for me! The rooms are small, but that couldn't keep me from giving it 5 stars! There are many options for lodging AT Disney, and they all probably rock! The service here was great - I enjoyed some of the 'at lodge' activities - like movies at night, awesome pools, game room, etc. -- my favorite: talking to the stafff who are there to assist - or even just provide information about the animals that live there, etc. - many folks live her for a year on a work-related visit...they hail from Kenya, Nigeria, etc. - and they are WONDERFUL! Their first-hand knowledge of the land the resort is based around is great...cool experience for sure! The rooms are comfy, small, but we weren't there to lounge in the rooms - we were all about Disney! The TRANSPORTATION to and from the different parks is sooooo convenient and great. Nice drivers and incredibly convenient...at night, when you've spent 10 hours in the park, you can RIDE back to the resort - no parking worries, no driving, just relax and ride! Restaurants - I'm a vegetarian, not a lot there at the mainly used 'easy' 'fast-food' styled "restaurant" - it has cereal, danishes, etc. - sort of like a 'store' - and a few options to 'order' food. We got tired of the same 'ol stuff day after day, and regret getting the 'snack vouchers' - these were VERY Useful in the parks, but not here. We usually just grabbed fruit and cereal and took it to our rooms. HOWEVER, the other REAL restaurants (that are often crowded and not available for breakfast) - are beyond AWESOME! So there's a trade-off there, for sure. Overall - convenient, beautiful, and loved it! No other way to go!
"Only one night - but want to go back!"
We only stayed here one night (our last night) but I'm already dreaming of when we can go back. It is as beautiful as expected! Our room was not what we had requested, but it was beautiful, big, comfy beds, with a nice (ground floor) balcony from which we could see giraffes (this was not a preferred or savannah view room). Pool was lovely, easy entry, albeit it was a cool evening. One downside was that it is not easy to find your way around. It took us asking about 3 people to eventually find our way to our room the first time. And when we tried to find the movie one night we were told at least 3 different locations from 3 different cast members, and never found it. Instead we found the drumming lesson, which my daughter loved. The safari guides were great and "night vision" viewing of the animals was wonderful!
