The Hapuna Hotel has an amazing beach - one of the best on the Big Island. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and have large bathrooms. The price point is good compared to other hotels with a lesser beach. Only criticism: the carpet in our room was worn and stained. Overall - the room was clean - just the carpet needed to be replaced. Beautiful location and lovely Aloha spirit.
"Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel"
Everything about this resort was amazing. I can see why the beach is one of the top 10 in the USA. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was great to be able to walk over to the Mauna Kea Resort and have dinner at the Copper Bar. The rooms and the views at both resorts were beautiful.
"Our week in Hapuna"
Gorgeous contemporary hotel on the best beach on the Big Island! Staff are very friendly! Food and drink prices are very high. Beautiful pool....Nice walking trails... Definitely need a car as the hotel is out of the way.
"Great location. Not a very accomodating staff."
We came for our son's wedding. During the wedding planning phase, sales office would not return calls. Sales office would not work with us to block rooms or offer group rates. This is a HUGE sprawling hotel and our family was spread out from one end to the other. When our wedding guests called to reserve rooms, the hotel told them they had never heard of the wedding...giving us sleepless nights wondering what was going on. We figured they must have so much business because of the nice location that they dont have to be bothered by returning phone calls or working with customers. I finally (afer 3weeks of leaving messages) got one woman to return my call to plan a family dinner at one of the resturants but she turned me over to someone else who answerd one email and then never responded again. Again sleepless nights wondering if my reservation was really there...i had emailed to ask if i could come early and put flowers on the table...never got an answer. We paid extra for an ocean view room...we wanted to listen to the waves. Each morning starting at 6:00 am a noisy gardening cart starts traversing back and forth and back and forth..so much for peaceful mornings. Then the noisy beach cart starts traversing the beach. Front desk is snippy when you ask a question. There is actually paperwork involved in getting a pool towel. They advertise wedding packages but the hotel sales people act like they know nothing about them and there seems to be no way to purchase a "package" and plan a wedding though them directly. The packages are just come-ons cause there is NO way you can get married here for their "package" prices...dont be fooled. We finally had to hire an outside wedding planner to get anything accomplished. Parking fees are outrageous- on top of pricey rooms. What more can I say... our daughter is next to marry but it wont be here! They do everything they can to make it difficult and there is no one at the hotel you can work with to plan the wedding. They should not be advertising wedding packages on the website because the staff here know nothing about them and there is no way to purchase and execute what they advertise. Wish they were responsive and easy to work with but they clearly don't need your busines. On a positive note...I will say the wait staff we encountered are fantastic...friendly, warm, and efficient but sales and management cant be bothered, dont know their own products, and really have no interest in working with you. Rated the service as a three only because some of the staff are great. Really wanted to love this place. :(
This resort is very nice! If you don't like walking don't stay here! We thought the hotel was great except for the bathroom if your traveling with a friend or simply don't like anyone else hearing you fart or pretty much hearing anything that happens in the bathroom. There will be an issue! The doors aren't really doors no privacy at all. I read some reviews about dirty rooms etc.... I think that's going alittle far, normal hotel stuff is what we've experienced I'm actually a total clean freak and had no problems here! I thought it was very well maintained. All of the staff was polite and friendly, We never experienced any lack of hospitality or any rudeness (many reviews have complaints about this) I think if your nice and pleasant they will be too. The big island isn't our favorite this was our first trip to this island and I don't think we'll ever come back unfortunately (nothing to do with the Hapuna) Luckily we picked this hotel because the beach really makes it a sweet spot. Overall this island is pretty boring Locals aren't as friendly as the other islands its an elderly crowd mostly, alot of families with young kids etc.. For 2 best friends traveling together this has been a learning lesson that we want to stick with Maui or Oahu, much funner there and alot more easy going! The big island is a bit stiffer in everyway, people activities its just different like alot of people say! Believe them! Its beautiful don't get me wrong, just not a blast like our experiences on the other island's. Usually I cry when I leave Hawaii! This trip I can't wait to get home! (We did do a Cessna air tour of the island and a Fair wind snorkel tour to Captain Cook it was fun but expensive and was the highlight of our trip) We ate at the Manta next door for breakfast it was great. We hiked in between the 2 resorts along the coast. At Hapuna The little Cafe/shop has wonderful salads sandwiches and deserts. That's where we ate mostly and subway! If I ever do come back here I will definitely stay at the Hapuna again.
