Over Royal Lahaina Resort

Our favorite

"Maui in December"

First, all of the staff are VERY friendly. The beach is BEAUTIFUL. There is a happy hour from 2-6 every night in the restaurant on the terrace. The bartenders Jason, Marc, Stacy and Mate (Australian dude I believe) are all quite nice. They will take great care of anyone who sits at their bar. Very thoughtful people. Just good humans. My room was on the 7th floor with a partial ocean view but it was more than enough for me! The coconut lime body wash and lotion smell divine! The room also had a small fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. Free wifi too! There is a shuttle that takes you into Lahaina for only a few bucks and you can walk to the fairway shops in under 10 minutes. There is a small fitness studio with some free classes for the guests. I took the yoga sculpt and boy was I feeling the burn! There is also a small gym on campus with cardio equipment and free weights. I never made it to the ice cream shop on the grounds but I made a few trips to the general store across the way from the lobby. It's open til 11pm each night and sells souvenirs, snacks, & alcohol. There are two places to book tours and activities at the resort as well. The myths of Maui luau was brief (2 hours or so) but the food was SO GOOD. The luau MC did a great job of explaining the origins and meanings of the dances we saw. I was so impressed! The fire dance is always my favorite and the performer did not disappoint! Even with all of this, there was no daily resort fee. Parking seems to be free. They have a large uncovered lot and asked if I was driving a car so they could give me a sticker/parking permit. Loved the whole experience! Why are you still reading this?! BOOK THIS PLACE ALREADY!!

"Welcome Home"

We stayed at the Royal Lahaina for just under 2 weeks and had the best time of our lives there. The staff were always very friendly and approachable and always seemed to be so happy. The check in/out staff were just lovely and couldn't have done more to help us; as were the Bell staff and Guest services. We also used the Expedia office to make some reservations which was also very good. We were given a bunch of discount vouchers with our bookings which gave discounts to restaurants we had planned to visit anyway and were good for spends also at CJ's which is a lovely little diner. We parked our car via Valet parking every night and I know there have been some gripes about the fee for this but we were really happy to be only paying $15 dollars a night for Valet as it was less hassle for us. We sorted our car hire out @ the Expedia office and it was supplied by the guys @ Enterprise over at the Sheraton who were brilliant too. We were put in Room 1221 which admittedly did have a damp smell that you picked up whenever you entered the room, but we were able to look past this because the room itself was so nice and the views were out of this world. From this room we had views of the mountains, Golf Course and the beach/ocean and this was just perfect for us. Housekeeping visited daily @ about 8.30am which was super early for us and we had to almost always advise her to come back (which was fine). It was nice to come back from breakfast to a clean room though. The air con was not noisy at all and kept the room lovely and cool. The shutters across the patio doors to the Lanai were great at Black out too. I loved the decor of the rooms with the dark wood and I really loved the vanity area which had the blinds you could open or shut. There was plenty of storage areas and I liked that there was a fridge because you will want to have water and drinks in your room...best enjoyed on the Lanai. I also liked the coconut toiletries that are supplied. We were invited to the Managers Cocktail reception during our second week there which was really lovely. They had put on a buffet of hot and cold foods as well as an open bar and everyone got a goodie bag as a thank-you for attending. We spent some time with Staff member David which was great. We dined at the Royal Terrace on Thanksgiving and also on our first night. The first night we had Fish and Chips/Ribs which were actually quite good. Hence why we booked to go back for thanksgiving. We were really disappointed by the thanksgiving dinner to be honest. It wasn't very neatly presented and the flavours just weren't there. Also the soup was identical to the soup you could get there any day of the week (Corn Bisque) but they'd just given it a different name. I did love the soup! We also did the Buffet breakfast @ $25 each...there is certainly a lot to choose from but if you are not big on breakfast you probably wouldn't get your money's worth @ the buffet. We chose to have breakfast at either Dukes Beachhouse (15 minute walk up the boardwalk) or CJ's @ the Fairway Shops (10 minute walk up Kekaa Drive) and for dinner we ate at - Kimo's, Fleetwoods, Lahaina Pizza Company, Cool Cat Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe (all on Front Street) as well as the Hula Grill, Dukes and Bistro Casanova in Kahului. But you won't be short on options! We didn't use the pool or the hot tub whilst we were there. Literally every time I wanted to use the hot tub there were kids splashing about in it which I find really annoying (and that doesn't change wherever I am in the world). I wish there was an adults only hot tub. Beach towels supplied were great and the lounger area is great for catching rays. I also found the beach out front to be perfect for swimming, People watching or sunbathing. It didn't ever seem crowded at all. We didn't use the trolley either. Before we picked up the car, we preferred to do the beach walk right along to Whalers village and catch the 25 to Front Street from there. It gave us a chance to check out our surroundings and is a nice walk of I'd say no more that 25-30 minutes. Whenever you would return to the hotel you would be greeted by 'Welcome Home' which was such a lovely touch. We had a late flight out on our way home and had a 17 hour journey to look forward to (!) over three flights, so we viewed late check out as a necessity, so I really was grateful that we had the opportunity to do this. Because the hotel was not full on the day we were checking out we were able to keep the room until 6pm for $100 which was ideal since our airport pick up was 6.10pm. Finally, the Trading Post shop was perfect for souvenir needs as well as food and beverages but I also thought they had a real nice selection of apparel too. I picked up a spirit jersey in stripes from there which had seen nowhere else on Maui.

"Fantastic experience!"

We were upgraded on arrival to an Deluxe Ocean View room. It was absolutely beautiful! This resort gave me the most wonderful experience I've had at a hotel. The valets and front desk folks were helpful, friendly and attentive. Very short walk across the yard to a lovely beach; coffee shop, bar and scrumptious restaurant right there in the hotel, with a convenience shop as well for all those little things that you can't get through the airlines as well as some fun Hawai'ian mementoes. I will absolutely stay here again whenever I'm on Maui - which will be as often as I can afford it!

"Bliss!"

Amazing location right on the beach! Lovely helpful staff. Clean, modern rooms. This place is really somewhere you dont want to leave once you arrive! It has all amenties you would need for a relaxing, refreshing getaway.

"Beautiful location"

   03-12-2016
Check-in started out rough, reservation was made in Feb 2016 (9-months in advance of arrival) for an "oceanfront tower room", the front desk said we reserved an "oceanfront cottage"...big difference. Reyna was able to work with room assignment staff to put us in the room we requested, but in order to accommodate us we HAD TO PROVE we booked the tower room. Fortunately we had our Pleasant Holidays itinerary as proof. After going back/forth several times we were given a room on the 12th floor. The rooms are beautiful & have a lovely view. BEWARE...in the morning there are ALOT of tiny, flying black bugs, not only on the balcony, but also in the room (able to enter room through multi-panel glass balcony doors). Also, if you're a member of their club they only extend waiving of the nightly parking fee if you book directly with the hotel. Whether paying Pleasant Holidays or Royal Lahaina if you're paying $395/night for a room & are a returning member the $10/night parking should be waived.
