Our favorite

"Beautiful vacation - and staff went above and beyond to help fix a problem"

We recently returned from our first trip to Maui and a seven night stay at this hotel. The location is absolutely breathtaking with dreamy sunsets every night and a lovely pool area for the kids to play in. It was definitely their idea of heaven! I loved looking out of our room and seeing the humpback whales mothers and babies in every direction during their migration here at this time of year. A concierge named Shirley helped me arrange for snorkeling, dinner reservations and other fun activities even prior to our arrival. Our kids loved going to the Kids Club on the last night having fun there and hunting for geckos and toads and playing with the games in the room while we enjoyed a sunset dinner at Honu in Lahaina. The luau on the property was wonderful with good food and great performers! On the third day there was a problem in our room and the housekeeping staff did everything they could to help us and move (and upgrade) us to a different room. Thank you to April and the front desk staff for being prompt and professional, starting at 7 am that morning. We received updates via text and follow up phone calls to make sure that everything was in order. We were never made to feel that we were being a nuisance. The view from the lanai on this fifth floor suite room was amazing and we enjoyed having coffee and breakfast with the sound of the ocean. We rented a car and found this was great for day trips to Haleakala Crater and Hana. (And downloaded excellent Shaka Guides onto our phones/bluetooth to help be a "tour guide" on the trips there and kept us and the kids entertained with info on Hawaii and the sights) We snorkeled at nearby Black Rock near the Sheraton and also gorgeous Napili beach a short drive away. The self parking at the hotel was crowded but we only had to valet one night and it was complimentary because the lot was full. There is some traffic but not that surprising as this is a popular destination (for good reason). Lahaina is close nearby, with shops, great restaurants and a reasonable grocery store where we stocked up on lunch and bfast items and snacks for trips. In summary, we loved out beautiful view, the pool and outdoor amenities were lovely. Very friendly and professional staff. Would definitely stay there again and recommend that others do too. Ka'anapali Beach is beautiful and the Westin a great place to stay. Mahalo Westin! Doing a great job!

"First visit to Maui"

This is our first visit to Maui. 5 night stay. Upgraded to an ocean view room in the beach tower of the resort. The views of the pools, the grounds and the ocean are beautiful. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Everybody from the valet, front desk, housekeeping, restaurants, grounds crew, etc. are warm and will easily engage in conversation if you allow it. Brought our 18-month old boy along...we didn't feel out of place. Family friendly resort with several activity centers for the kids. You will run into several families who are on their family vacation. The resort is right on the beach. It sits on a portion of Kaanapali beach. Conveniently steps away from the sand and ocean. The grounds are well kept and manicured. Several waterfalls, flamingos, koi fish ponds, parrots, macaos, black and white swans are on premises. Only a few minutes walk to Whalers Village to visit beach front boutiques, shops, restaurants and a museum. Would stay here again

"Wonderful experience on Westin Package deal"

Since I am a SPG (Starwood Prefered Guest) I received around a year ago an offer for 6 days 5 nights at the Westin in Ka'anapali. Along with the offer there were many other perks that enticed me to seriously think about making the trip from Missouri. I am so glad my significant other and I decided to go. We had a wonderful experience, from the time we checked in with Alika at the front desk to the minute we had to leave. Since this offer was significantly less than the usual room prices we did not have an ocean view room, but we had a beautiful 8th floor mountain/sunrise view. We loved it. Now that being said there was a parking lot below our view, but being on the 8th floor really helped us look beyond the cars and the mountain side was lovely. Everyone we encountered at the hotel treated us courteously. Perhaps because we were there in February we didn't experience any problems getting lounge chairs facing the beach or around the pool as other reviewers had stated. The heavenly beds that the Westin is known for were indeed heavenly. Our room was cleaned each day promptly. The only negative I would say, is that the parking is horrific. Do NOT rent an SUV and think you can fit into one of their self parking spaces unless you are in the last row. You will probably have to valet each time you come and go with an SUV. We had a small compact car and even that was not easy maunevering into the spaces. There are also not a sufficent amount of spaces if the hotel is somewhat filled. Other than parking if you get offered this as an SPG member take it. You will not regret the money spent or if you live in the Midwest the plane ride to get there.

"Amazing Honeymoon!"

This is one of the best resorts I have ever been to. I was between the Westin and the Sheraton and I am happy I chose the Westin. The pool, with the slides were really fun. There are two hot tubs, one is hidden under the waterfall. The staff was very friendly and the many concierge agents were always ready and willing to answer any questions we had. The grounds are beautiful with waterfalls, a fish ponds and even pink flamingos roaming around. The location is great, right next door to Whalers Village with a few restaurants and shops in walking distance. This hotel is about a 45 minutes away from the airport depending on traffic. Ka’anapali is very close to Lahaina which is a really cool little town to visit while you are in Maui. There are more restaurants and shops there. Being an SPG platinum member we were able to get room upgrades (not a suite) but an ocean view. Rooms were big and beds were comfortable. We also got FREE valet parking, which was not that big of a deal because the self-parking lot was right in front of the hotel. Free breakfast was also given to use due to my SPG status. Maui was so beautiful I didn’t want to leave and it seems as if a lot of people come to Maui on vacation and never leave. Overall I would recommend this hotel to everyone. You will not be disappointed, and if you are just think… “Hey, I am in Maui” and it will make it all better!

"Like an aging Grande Dame"

I've had the wonderful opportunity to stay in this property 3 times now. I'm not really a resort person, but I've been impressed with the courtesy of the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. This year we were given VIP rooms, and this is the basis for this critique. The room just wasn't what I would consider VIP. The outlet switch in the bathroom was dirty; it had dirt stuck in between the letters of the words "off" and "on". The caulking in the tub was coming loose, the shower fixtures were rusting, and the screen door was flimsy and starting to fall its track. Any one of those items I could easily overlook, but since we were "VIP" and there was more than one issue, it just didn't seem right. And this is why I've entitled my review "Like an Aging Grande Dame". The property is still beautiful, and like bigger-than-life personalities that we come to love, we don't want to acknowledge - or point-out - that there are a few flaws. But there were a few flaws that I hope they fix before they become bigger flaws. Would I return? Yes. But I wouldn't be disappointed if I weren't in a VIP room as that distinction didn't seem to carry any more advantage than extra towels from the pool desk. And like I said, I always enjoy the courtesy and kindness of the staff.
