"Classy Boston Hotel"
We absolutely loved this hotel. The location by the harbor with a lovely outdoor cafe/bar by the promenade is very relaxing. The beds are luxurious and the rooms spacious and comfortable. Everything is personalized, from the card written to welcome us by staff with fresh fruit, concierge service, even bell-hop--everyone is helpful and friendly. We wish we could have spent more time here. We didn't get a chance to use the spa with complimentary sauna, and we didn't want to leave so soon as this was a great location right in the heart of historic downtown Boston. The parking was done by valet attendants and cost $44 for 24 hours.
"Above and Beyond Service"
Front Desk Manager Rebecca Ward went above and beyond to accommodate me during my stay. She not only addressed all of my requests, she exceeded my expectations over and over again - all with a smile and a kind attitude. The hotel choices are near limitless here in Boston, but I will definitely choose the InterContinental when staying in Boston again - and Rebecca has much to do with that.
Honestly - Polite staff, clean hotel, great location - We stayed on the water view side because the front of the hotel is directly across the street from the fire station. No issues at all with noise, just a very nice stay. The outside bar was clean and nice, directly on the water across from the Tea Party. So much to do on this side of Boston, very impressed. My wife enjoyed the spa.
"Fantastic location, comfortable higher end hotel."
I attended a conference at this hotel and as a late entry was initially unable to get a room, but a (quite expensive) last minute room came up which made for a much more convenient and practical trip. The room I was able to get was on their 12th floor club level. Given the high price of the room, this definitely made up some of the value gap as we were able to use the club lounge for a couple of private meetings. The breakfast served there was also above expectations - it is billed as "continental" but had a great hot and cold selection. The room was a good size and comfortable. Very nice but nothing too special. While some apparently have great views, mine was of a wall. Did not spend much time in the room though, so not a big deal for me. What sets this place apart is its location. Close to the airport. Close to the business district. And right on the harbour next to the Boston Tea Party site. While my room didn't have the greatest view, the conference held a reception on the hotel's patio which is a unique and fantastic venue. The front desk team and lounge staff were also very attentive and helpful. Not great value probably given when I booked but the location and convenience made it worth it.
I booked this hotel for a surprise birthday trip to Boston for my husband. I had never been to Boston and thought the idea of being on the waterfront sounded appealing. It certainly was! We were able to take the water taxi from the airport; which, while it wasn't a speedy option, it was so enjoyable on a nice day! It was a great welcome to the city, so I highly recommend that if you're on a leisure trip. We took the water taxi from the dock directly behind the hotel several times and was never disappointed. As far as the hotel: the location is great. It was an easy and walk to just about everywhere. Places that required public transportation were made easy with the South Station being only a few blocks away. The hotel itself is lovely. We were greeted immediately by a wonderful bellhop who took our bags to be stored. We arrived at the hotel at around noon and weren't expecting our room to be ready. They were able to get us in to our room though which was wonderful. I opted to upgrade to a club level room. I had booked the hotel through a third-party website so I didn't know anything about the club level until after I booked. I did call the hotel a few weeks prior and was told there wasn't a way to pay the difference to upgrade. However, when we checked in that apparently was ok. It was $80 a day to add the club. While it was steep, I figured it would be a welcome addition to our trip as we were traveling with a toddler. We were able to run upstairs to fill up his milk during hours the club was open, and it made breakfast easy. We stopped in one evening for their happy hour and they had some great appetizers and cocktails. If I were a business traveler, that would have been great! But being a tourist we typically weren't at the hotel during those hours. I will say though that I was disappointed in the club overall. During breakfast hours on the weekend they set up an omelette station. I felt like the refills on items were pretty lacking. The breakfast was until 10 or 10:30, and we were never there later than 9. However, the fridge was almost always picked empty and several dishes were emptied and not refilled. Monday morning was the worst... we were there before our flight at 9am and it was just leftovers from the weekend; berries that were smushed and picked through, the empty fridge again, some items were already gone and not replaced at all while we were there. When I was checking out of the hotel the lady at the desk asked how I enjoyed the club. I was honest with her and was surprised that there didn't seem to be an apology of any sort; simply the excuse that the omelette station was only on the weekends, which was not my issue at all. All staff that we encountered though was wonderful! I had called the concierge prior to our arriving to arrange for a slice of birthday cake to be left in the room. Steven was wonderful in arranging that and suggesting when to do it. To our surprise they also included a hand-written note and a bottle of prosecco which was a wonderful touch! The room was as expected- clean and nice. The bed and pillows were top notch! Having the toddler with us I had to use the bathtub (and get in with him because of the size!) and I'm always surprised that hotels don't seem to include anything for the bathtub with their toiletries. A small bottle of bubble bath or a bath bomb would be such a nice and easy touch! The bathroom did not have a fan, and the shower door leaked water everywhere which always made the tile floor treacherous. Overall though my complaints are minimal and it was a great trip. I would most definitely stay there again and again... although I wouldn't recommend the club level for those that would pay out-of-pocket for it.
