Kennebunkport is een klein, charmant plaatsje aan de noordoostkust van Amerika op zo'n 200 kilometer ten noorden van Boston. Op uw route door het noordoosten van Amerika is het een fijne tussenstop.
The Kennebunkport Inn is located right in the middle of Kennebunkport. We were able to walk to everything! The staff was very friendly and always willing to recommend restaurants or give information of any kind. The room was clean and the continental breakfast was delicious! We were able to put our kayaks right in the river next to the Inn, that was a very nice feature as well! We will definitely return next year!
"Amenities a perk, changes are disheartening..."
This was our 5th stay at the Kennebunkport Inn and while one of the main reasons we choose it is because of the fabulous amenities they offer, as well as the updated decor and beautiful rooms on the riverside; we may not book here for our next yearly trip to Maine and stay elsewhere. The reason for this has mainly to do with the changes since under new management and lack of staffing. Change can be good and we certainly aren't adverse to it, but as cliche as it sounds, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." One of the areas that has changed greatly since our first stay at the inn has been the continental breakfast offered. It used to be a good variety of hot and cold options, enough that actually constituted it being called a meal. A few years ago it's offering was at its worst with a sparsely furnished bowl of fruit, yogurt, and a few carbohydrate options; mind you the tackiness of setting up toasters on the bar so you could prep your own bagel or muffin. If you don't eat carbs or simply don't want toast or a bagel, a piece of fruit would have to suffice. This year the options were hard boiled eggs, one type of quiche, plain croissants, one type of muffin, and one type of cereal. More than previous year, but same everyday, no variety in flavors. Also, after first hour of service when selections were dwindling, there was no replenishing. The breakfast hours were definitely short staffed as a tray was provided for guest to pile dishes on in dining area. We never saw waitstaff monitoring the food areas or the tables. When you pay almost $400 a night during peak season to stay here, you shouldn't have to bus your own table because staffing is inadequate. Just the staffing alone baffles me as it's peak season. A good business prepares for this and for all instances when there could be a shortage of staff.... which leads to the other major area of change noticed. The Burleigh, the inn's restaurant operates on a street level seating area, an outside deck area, and 2 indoor dining room options; as well as a bar area. Two of the four nights we were there, there was no host at host stand and no service at street level area. We sat down for a drink and a few small plates and asked a couple sitting near us how they obtained their drinks and we were told that we had to go inside and get it ourselves and if we wanted food, to order inside. What?? If the general public were to walk upon this venue, see the signs promoting Happy Hour from 3-5 pm and dining as well, notice the outdoor bar and hostess stand, why would they think to go inside the inn and order?? We weren't sure if this disheartening lack of service and inattentiveness was due to shortage of staff. Two of the four nights we were there, however; there was service, so unsure as to the lack of consistency. Also, the furniture from the street side eating area has been switched with the couches and chairs that's used to be on upper deck. Patio furniture would be cozy either place, but not having a seating vignette on the upper deck limits folks who aren't coming for dinner to a comfortable space to just have a drink, enjoy the fire and visit with people. Overall, the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, but other staff would walk right by and not acknowledge with a simple "hello" or " good morning". That shouldn't have to be training in hospitality, that's just simple manners and courtesy. All this said, we do truly love the Kennebunkport Inn, for what it once was to us and still for the amenities that are the major perk for staying there. It will be interesting to see what changes transpire in the next year and if they are worthy of booking another stay. A special "thank you" to Spencer for his attentiveness and our celebratory bottle of champagne in our room upon arrival.
"First Pick for Kennebunkport"
Loved my stay here with family. Porch is lovely. Free parking in Kennebunkport is a dream. The Inn is not located on a quiet street and there is morning traffic noise. Breakfast was nice. The whole vibe of the place is terrific and our room was very nice. We needed the fireplace late at night in August too! Very Maine. Kennebunkport is a traffic nightmare and anyone going should know this going in. The Inn definitely overcomes any of the negatives of visiting the town. Would not hesitate to stay again.
"Couldn't Be Any Better"
The staff here "bent over backward" to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Our room was spacious and very well appointed. Their breakfast buffet was wonderful and their advice on things to do in the area extremely helpful. My wife and I recommend it quite highly. And ... their location in the heart of the touristy part of Kennebunkport cannot be beaten.
We did a quick one night get away and it was the perfect place to stay. Hotel is lovely and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Location is great, you can park your car and have easy access walking to shops and restaurants. Hotel is lovely, well maintained and immaculately clean.
