Kennebunkport is een klein, charmant plaatsje aan de noordoostkust van Amerika op zo'n 200 kilometer ten noorden van Boston. Op uw route door het noordoosten van Amerika is het een fijne tussenstop.
"Great Staff, Great Rooms, Great Service, Great Location"
We stay at the Nonantum once or twice a year to celebrate my husband's birthday or our fall wedding anniversary. I think we've been going there for the past 7 or 8'years. It's our home away from home. You won't find a staff more focused on guest satisfaction and top notch service. It's genuine, heartfelt, and sincere...and it shows. Everyone at the Nonantum from the college student summer help to the professional hospitality career staff truly provides fantastic service. We stay in the Portside Lodge and have one or two favorite rooms that we typically seek out. A huge breakfast selection of hot and cold items is included with you stay. The location is lovely and convenient. You can walk into town or stroll up,the road to Walker Point. The list of amenities and activities can keep you going all day or you can just enjoy sitting in one of the plentiful and comfy Adirondack chairs along the river and watch boats and yachts sail past you to the open sea. The only downside to our visit this past week for 3 nights was the parking. We arrived in Thursday afternoon and departed on Sunday morning. During that time it was clear that there wasn't enough parking for overnight resort guests, wedding guests staying elsewhere, daytrippers, and resort staff. We've never seen the parking situation this overloaded before, and we wonder if this is the new " normal". We think perhaps the resort added more lodging rooms at the inn or maybe increased their function space or booked more weddings, but it's clear the existing parking exceeds the demand. Staff told us that they ( the staff) have to park off property and get the resort shuttle to pick them up to bring them to work. We felt badly having to park on the grass at the side of the building basically in front of a first level Portside Lodge guest room's patio. Several other cars were parked in this area as well, all packed in tightly throughout our stay. If we had been lodged in one of those first floor rooms, I would have been upset having to look at someone's car a few feet from my patio chair. Some guests were getting obnoxiously (and dangerously) creative with where they chose to park, with some cars parking in the paved main lot area where no parking spaces even existed, blocking the entrance to the parking lot section directly in front of the Portside building entrance. You couldn't drive past them. Perhaps the hotel should mark the curbside travel area as a no parking/fire lane so that cars don't park there. It was nutty. Parking aside, we highly recommend the Nonantum. It's a gem.
"The View was lovely."
The view from the room was some of the river, but the breakfast room was full view of the river. Lovely. We were surprised that the resort had transportation from the village and back. Anytime, anywhere.
"In the top rooms ever"
What a beautiful hotel and grounds. Amazing. The local middle school 8th grade decorates a room each year picking out the furniture fabrics etc and is eco friendly We were lucky enough to stay in one. Beautiful !
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent first stay at the Nonantum. From the moment we checked in until the time we left, every employee that we met was so friendly, and genuinely cared that we were satisfied with everything. Our unit had a king bed in one room, two twin beds in another room, and 1 1/2 bathrooms. Both bedrooms were very clean, updated and roomy with a tv in each room. It was perfect for our family of 4. The beds were very comfortable, with upscale bedding and great mattresses. We had a wonderful view of the river. There was a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the main bedroom. The only suggestion that I would make about the rooms would be to put in some different shelving or different sink in the main bathroom, as there was not a good place to put toiletry kits, etc. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which had delicious food, and a great variety each morning. The maple pecan scones were amazing, as was everything else! We made the short walk to town to shop and have lunch, and then up to Walker's Point one evening. Both were enjoyable walks. There is also transportation available if you don't want to walk. We enjoyed sitting out on the chairs by the river in the quiet morning before our sailboat ride on the Pineapple Ketch. Our short stay was one of the highlights of our 5-state New England trip, and we hope to return some day. Thanks for the great memories!
"The Nonantum Resort"
We stopped here during a visit to Kennebunkport. What can I say but the place was far, far beyond any expectations. We only wish we could have stayed longer the one night. My best suggestion to anyone traveling near the southern portion of Maine's coast is not to pass on this gem. You won't be disappointed.
