"I wanted to like this hotel but... "
Stayed 4 nights for work. Good location but rooms are dated - cracked paint, chipped woodwork and similar. Biggest issue was that I spent 4 days and 4 nights listening to the TV noise from the person next door in room 1619, who I think must be a long-term resident. I rang reception every evening to see if anything could be done because I could hear the actual words from the TV, and the responses from reception ranged from telling me nothing could be done, to promising to ring the room next door (which they didn't do as I could also hear the phone ring in that room) to actually ringing (but that didn't result in the noise quieting down). So, sorry Hotel Beacon, I wouldn't stay here again because I do not want to listen to someone else's TV for hours and hours and hours.
I would definitely recommend staying here. A short walk to the subway where we purchased a pass for the whole week. A big shop across the road Fairway which had everything we needed. The staff here were amazing especially the doorman. Thus is a 10/10 hotel.
"Lots of space, perfect location"
A block from the 1,2 or 3 subway line, surrounded by restaurants and across from a supermarket, can see the Hudson from the upper floors. Suite Room was huge and had a kitchen with full size fridge and functioning gas stove plus microwave. Elevator was fast, check in and check out fast, rooms quiet and tv easy to work, what else can a hotel do for you?
"An Overnight That Felt Like a Vacation"
Living an hour away from NYC, my husband and I had tickets to a concert at the Beacon Theater and wanted to make a weekend out of it. The Hotel Beacon is right next door and was perfect. Our room was spacious (bigger than the apartment we had when we lived in the city) with a kitchenette, a separate living area, and the bedroom. We were on the 10th floor and while we didn't have the best view in the hotel, our room had lots of light and still had a decent view of NYC. Check-in was smooth and everyone was pleasant. We had dinner at a lovely little Italian restaurant around the corner. We stopped in at the hotel bar before the concert and met other concert goers. All in all, a great experience. If you were traveling with a family this would be a great set-up. There is a great grocery store across the street, which could be a great savings with the kitchenette. The size of the rooms are unusually large for a city. (We had stayed at a lovely hotel in Brooklyn recently whose rooms dwarfed in comparison to the size of the rooms at The Hotel Beacon). We signed up for a Beacon Rewards program before we left because we will definitely be back.
We were happy to find this hotel in our old neighborhood for a trip back to NY. The staff were the perfect amount of friendly and helpful. I thought the price was great considering it's so well located on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The hotel is a short walk to Strawberry Fields in Central Park. We stayed in a Queen suite with our 3 year old daughter. After the long days out and about in the city, we were able to put her down in the bedroom in the evening and hang out in the living room. Next time we will get a King suite, because the bed was a little cosy with the three of us! There was however, a sofa bed in the living room. The kitchenette was useful, though we never cooked in the room. Always handy to have a fridge! We also used the laundry room (almost unavoidable with a toddler), I was so happy to have it in the building. Considering this place is on a busy street on the Upper West Side it was very quiet. We will absolutely stay here again. Oh, they also offer free internet which is a big winner in my book!
