"Great location, lovely staff, bizarre room layout"
We had stayed here before, 14 years ago so knew that it was in a great location, but it has clearly been refurbished and I seem to recall it had another name back then. Also, we must have had an upgrade then as well as the one bedroom suite we had then was bigger and had two bathrooms. However, it is still a great hotel. The staff are lovely and the welcome we got on arrival was truly lovely and Eugenia made us feel both special and welcome - a great start. We were on the 23rd floor and we knew from our previous visit that this was a busy and therefore noisy location, but that was all part of the NYC experience, the city that never sleeps! The suite had everything, although the bathroom was tiny, even by UK standards, never mind US ones! The bed was comfy, the suite well equipped, the little kitchen was great, it had all we needed, just not all as well laid out as it could be, making much of the amenities and facilities less positive than they should be. Whoever designed the room layout needs to be spoken to - its impossible to watch TV from the sofa as it is at right angles, one arm chair is miles away from the main 'sitting area' and of no earthly use at all. The dining table is directly below the TV and there is masses of just empty space. It took me all my time not to rearrange it all to make it more functional. The suite has everything you need, just all in the wrong place!
"Great Hotel close to Madison Square Garden"
Me and my parents stayed here 8nights in october 2016. The room might have been a little bit smaller then we wanted, but otherwise we had nothing to complain about. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I would also give extra credit to Eugenia Martinez who works at the reception desk. She was very helpful and very serviceminded. Because of that i can´t wait to get back to New York. Joachim from Sweden
"Some good but some bad..."
First the good: - Excellent location. Right next to Madison Square Gardens and Penn Station. Makes it super easy to watch a game/show or grab a train home. - The staff are super friendly and helpful. When they found out it was a special occasion they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite, which was lovely with a sitting area and a kitchen. - Love the free wine hour The bad: - The hotel was very tired looking. Peeling wall paper. A lot of dirt build-up in the tiles of the bathroom. - There were mystery stains on the supposedly clean towels. - There was a bloodstain or lipstick stain on the shower curtain. Not sure I would go back.
"Fantastic Location. Average Hotel"
Location is everything here. Bang opposite Penn Station and Madison Square Garden m. we were able to use the hotel as a great base to walk everywhere on Manhattan. First impressions are of a spacious and well appointed lobby and great lifts. However, room was a something of a disappointment. Cramped and dated. Beds were comfy but bathroom was tiny and some of the plumbing was on its last legs. Staff were, generally, helpful. All we did was sleep in it. I'd recommend on the basis of location if you can get a decent deal but don't be taken in by the luxurious photos on the website. Those are not the standard rooms. It's noisy but that didn't bother us and just added to the atmosphere of being in NYC. Next to a fire station but this is Manhattan. It's a noisy place. Earplugs provided.
"Good hotel close to station and Times Square"
Art Deco style hotel in a good location. Opposite Penn Station and a block from Macy's and Times Square. Rooms were very small and had a basic fit out. Price a bit high for what you get in terms of room size.
