"Better options available for your money"
While the location and front desk staff (and room delivery) were great I was really disappointed in the room/ cleanliness/ and above all, someone stole my husband's coat. The room itself was dark and the air conditioning vent was so incredibly dusty I ended up getting really sick. Also, the down comforter didn't have a duvet and was covered in yellow stains...gross. My husband and I chose this hotel because of the decent reviews and because it's a super short walk from his NY office on Park Ave. My husband ended up leaving his nice coat in the hotel room which was completely our fault obviously. But when we called a couple hours later they advised us to submit an inquiry VIA their online Lost & Found. An immediate response was promised but never delivered. Then when we called the next day the receptionist said she would check and give me a call back, but hung up before I could even provide my phone number or room I stayed in...When I called back I got some major attitude. Then I left a voicemail for the manager who advised us that the coat was gone. I know for a fact the coat was left on the coat rack in our room because I advised my husband to pack it bc he'd forget it...which of course he did. We submitted an "inquiry" soon thereafter so I'm not sure how they could have lost it. Either they threw it out or someone stole it. Either way it's disappointing. I know hotels aren't liable for lost goods, but over the countless years of travelling my family has lost sunglasses, dresses, even retainers (so far as Spain) and all were returned to us promptly. We even offered to stop by the hotel to pick up the coat so they wouldn't have to deal with shipping, but I guess they decided "chucking" it was easier. So basically this poor review is for the cleanliness of the room and the rudeness received from the onsite manager and receptionist who didn't even try to help. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to friends and we already had it removed from approved hotels for his company and partners/clients to use for out of towners.
"Good location, nice place to stay in NYC"
It is less than 10 minutes' walk from the Redbury hotel to the Empire State Building, and less than 20 to Times Square. Redbury has an interesting history which hits you as soon as you enter it. It is a vintage style place, very, very clean and neat, with each detail carefully chosen. Within the hotel there is a very popular and nice restaurant "Marta" which is crowded with people every day and especially evening. The staff are more than nice and polite, always there to help. The room we had was small, while the bathroom was very big, with a walk-in shower. The room was cleaned every day, towels changed, used-up toiletries replaced with new ones. Nevertheless, when we made the reservation, we found a very good deal on Booking.com, with some 60% discount, and with all fees and taxes included, considering its location it would b . The hotel charges 28$ per day towards "service fee", but again it will charge you additional 5$ for each package received for you (for example, if you order a book via Amazon and give the address of the hotel). Also, on its website, the hotel specified that local calls were free, but the staff were not aware of that, so I did not want to take any risks. The internet is quite good, there is one network in the rooms, and another in the lobby. As the price does not include any meals, it is good to know that there are many delis within 100m radius, where you can choose between vegan, organic, fruit, vegetables or a meal with meat or sausages. Generally speaking, I would recommend this hotel, but only if you find a good deal. Otherwise it is way too expensive.
"Good Hotel, Good Location,"
We stayed for 2 night in this hotel and was very please with the size of the room and the comfort of the bed. The room was very clean, and everything that you needed was there, such a safe, hairdryer. The layout of the room was very strange as the TV was on the furthest away walk and only able to be seen from 1 size of the bed. The shower was good and powerful but took an age to get hot water. I would stay at this hotel again, but would ask for a room away from the lifts and with the TV in another location.
"First class from start to finish"
We were recommended to use the Redbury hotel by our travel agent, we weren't disappointed. All the staff were helpful polite and couldn't do enough. One member of staff who I would recommend speaking to is the hotel concierge Alexandra she was s mind of information always willing to help. Couple of tips, the yellow cab drivers have had the same customer service training as the border control staff, no small chat and we felt we interrupted there work!! The yellow cabs have a plastic shield between you and the driver 5'8" and above won't like it very hot and cramped just about ok for 2 passengers. From JFK to our hotel the charge was 65.00 I gave 80.00 because we were told always give a tip. On the return trip to JFK Alexandra suggested we try the hotel private hire contacts, the first was already book but would have charged 80 the second was 98 but could have carried 6 passengers in total comfort this cost was 98 the company was called Six Stars our lady driver was brilliant and well worth the extra cost over the yellow cabs, and the added bonus of being able to "speak" Overall our visit to NYC was a great life experience and a stay at the Redbury will make it just that little bit more special.
"Comfiest beds ever..................................................."
Loved everything about this hotel. Great location, close to the subway and the Empire State Building is just around the corner. I thought the reception area was really quirky and I loved the music that they were playing. Found the reception staff to be really friendly and helpful, they assisted us whenever we asked directions to get somewhere and were always very chatty and pleasant to us. The restaurant at the hotel does the best pizza EVER!!!!!! We ate here a few times because it was that good! The rooms were a little bit on the small side but who goes to New York to spend time in a hotel room? The beds were sooooooooo comfy, wanted to bring it home with me. Overall I had a fantastic stay at this hotel and I would most definitely stay at the Redbury again.
