"Great rooms with comfortable bed and an amazing Manhattan view"

I stayed at the Soho Grand with on a family trip in October. The location is great — within a stone's throw of all that Soho has to offer (there is an excellent coffee shop called Everyman Espresso right across the street) but a few blocks away from the frenetic energy of Broadway. My room on the 15th floor had incredible views of the Lower Manhattan skyline and down to Brooklyn Bridge. The bed was large and incredibly comfortable; the room itself wasn't huge but this is Manhattan, so what were you expecting? The bathroom was funky with an excellent shower in the bath tub. The common areas of the hotel were very cool too: we had drinks one night at the Club Room bar (the cocktail menu is excellent) and coffee in the lounge area. At night, it does feel as though the staff are trying too hard to act as though the place is a night club rather than focusing on running a hotel — my brother and his wife arrived late at night on a flight from London and although we had already sorted out the credit card for their room with the reception staff, my brother was still forced to find a credit card that would accept the (hefty) hold charge the hotel said they needed to put on the room. Not very pleasant to deal with when you've spent all day on a plane and just want to sleep. Late another night, my key card stopped working and after two trips down to the reception (the first time, the receptionist just reactivated it but they ended up needing to send up an engineer to fix the lock), the receptionist seemed largely indifferent, although the problem was fixed eventually. Essentially, the Soho Grand is a good hotel and it's also a hip hotel — but not anywhere near as hip as it thinks it is. If the staff spent more time on customer service and less time trying to be a night club, it would probably become an excellent hotel.

"True boutique wonder !"

Was suppose to Stay for three nights and extended for three more !! This is a wonderful hotel in soho with a true ny style, The rooms are clean and the hotel is spotless ! Special thanks to the bellboys and front desk

"Stunning hotel"

Loved this hotel! Gorgeous, opulent without being glitzy or ostentatious, very cozy and stately. Every amenity and luxury, superior service and the location is unbeatable to explore Soho and the West Village. Rooms were beautiful, wanted to steal the bedding

"Great location, great night's sleep, good bar, clean rooms, but book carefully."

I requested a quiet room and was not disappointed. The hotel has an excellent asset: one side of the hotel faces a lot with no street or tall buildings, which means less traffic noise if your room is on that side, which mine was. As a result of this, and a super comfortable bed, I had consistently good nights' sleep. Best I have ever had in Manhattan. Mind you there was still hall noise and traffic, but nothing compared to most. Caveat: this is a dog friendly hotel favored by shoppers with accessory dogs, so if you have bad luck you may have a yipping dog on your floor. We had this problem one afternoon but only for a little bit. Be warned also: get a higher room as the trendy club/bar in the lobby serves good cocktails but can be pretty lively and loud (which can be enjoyable if you are having a drink there but not if you are trying to have an early night). The hotel is very convenient location in the middle of SOHO. It is an easy walk to other neighborhoods like the west and east villages, little Italy, Chinatown etc and close to several subway lines. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. You will probably see a celebrity or two who are also staying there. Yes, the rooms are small and pricey for what you get, but that is generally the rule in this part of town. The front desk were professional, friendly, and helpful as were other staff including the bar hostess and waitresses. The one exception being one bar host who had a very snobbish and rude attitude; not to me, but to some other guests. If I had not already had a very good experience with rest the staff, this review might have ended up as more negative as a result of this bad apple. We also did have a hiccup with our bags. When you enter the hotel, a bellman whisks away your bags saying "We'll send them up to your room" He gives you a ticket which you need to present at the check in desk. I, stupidly, did not do that out, which meant I spent too long sitting in my room waiting for my bags until I figured it out. So insist on carrying them up yourself, or be sure to give the front desk that ticket. Summing up, if you want to stay in this part of Manhattan, Soho Grand is a good choice, particularly if you are there to shop and explore (maybe less so if you are there with children). The price is a tad high but I would definitely stay again.
