We arrived around 6pm and we're quickly greeted by the friendly reception staff. We had to put a $200 deposit down which we luckily knew about. One of the porters (Frank) quickly grabbed our luggage and took us to our room, he was really friendly and offered advice on our visit. We were shocked when we got to our room as we expected one room with 2 double beds but had a large front room with 1 double bed, kitchen area, bathroom and bedroom with 2 double beds. This was great as the boys in our group didn't want to share! The decor of the entire hotel and rooms is old fashioned but the hotel is kept very clean and the maid service was excellent. We were on the 15th floor but found the thin old windows to be awful for keeping the constant sound of sirens and honking horns out. Luckily we were so exhausted that it didn't bother us to much. Only complaint would be that the water was yellow when it came out of the hot tap. Bit gross. However I would recommend as the location is fantastic, right by a subway station and just a few minutes walk to Central Park, Times Square and the Rockerfeller centre.
Stayed here for 5 nights leading up to thanksgiving. Welcomed on arrival by friendly concierge who took our bags to our room. Check in easy. Lovely room with good size, comfy bed, good shower and bathroom. All you could want in a hotel room. Room service quick and not really expensive. Excellent location to see Central Park, Times square, Broadway, Empire State building, Macys and loads of local restaurants. Most within 15-20 minutes walk but subway only 2 blocks away. Overall very pleased for a 3 star hotel.
"Excellent location, friendlty staff, great room"
We stayed here in Feb/March 2015 (Taken a bit of time to get my review on here) The hotel was great, very easy check in - even though it was very busy we didn't wait long and they had plenty of staff on hand to check guests in. The room was big enough for what we needed, the view was of the side of another building, but we were thankful of this as there was no noise. The hotel were very helpful at pointing us in the direction of where we needed to go daily and saved the day when we needed to arrange transport back to the airport on departure. Once inside the rooms we didn't hear much noise from outside the room, maybe first thing in the morning with people getting up to go about their day but this is expected and we were up getting ready anyway. Not to far from Times Square or Central Park the location for this hotel is brilliant. There was a place to eat below the hotel, which honestly I wouldn't waste my money on again, we ate once and the staff were rude and circled the more expensive tip on the bill. This hasn't anything to do with the hotel but just wanted to mention it.
"Central Location but not posh!"
Located very close to Broadway and a few minutes walk to Central Park and the subway this makes it a great base to explore. The main thing is value. Compared to what you'd need to pay to go posh in New York in a similar location it's great value for money. The service is ok but not hugely attentive and the bedroom was nice enough. It's all about location and value for money
This hotel is quaint and classic NYC-looking hotel, not modern whatsoever and their elevators will prove that to you. Very small and cramped, but that's expected at most hotels in NYC unless you're doling out benjamins. Location couldn't be better and that made staying here entirely worthwhile. Times Square is about 200 ft away, on the same street. The Plaza and Central Park are 2 blocks away, Rockefeller Centre is 5 blocks away. My husband and I were in the city for a few days surrounding Christmas and we were able to see everything that NYC boasts about for holidays in the city... definitely couldn't have stayed at a better located hotel to hit all our site seeing. Front Desk/Valet service was really good, very friendly and accommodating service. Be warned that valet does not allow you to take your car in/out as you please though... it's a one shot deal and for every time you need your car they charge you another 24hrs worth of fees even if you haven't checked out of the hotel. My only other real complaint with this hotel is the bathroom. The toilet would flush and continue making noises unless you opened up the tank and fiddled with the chain and whatever (husband for that...) and the little shampoo/soap rations they provide were crusted and white, almost looking like they poorly tried to refill the bottle after the last guest used it - disgusting. Thankfully I anticipated such a thing having been to New York several times and brought my own from home. No free wifi, anywhere in the hotel - it's 2017, not sure how this can still happen. But there is a Starbucks across the road with 24/7 wifi and you can access if you stand literally outside their window. No mini fridge in the room. No safe which is most concerning. Pretty typical hotel experience for NYC but this hotel is all about location, definitely worth staying here if you intend to spend little to no time in the actual room :)
