"Convenient location, reasonably priced suites available. (great for families with young children)."
Family of 4 here, we just returned from a 3 night stay here. We were able to book a one bedroom suite for less than most regular hotel rooms (which was great). (Also, be sure to price out rooms on different site. Same room on different site was $150 more). So nice to have space to move around and kids had separate room to sleep in.(and that is hard to come by in NYC!). Location was vey good, walking distance to both Central Park and Times Square. There is a diner attached, although it was very expensive and food was just ok. (was $100 for 4 people). Several other diners close by and a Starbucks across the street. Subway stop right next to side door. Staff was fine, not rude but not overly friendly either. We were celebrating a birthday which I let them know on reservation but it was not acknowledged. Elevators were rather slow and neither thermostat worked great but really those were the only negatives. Overall we were happy with our stay. We would stay here again and would recommend.
"Three star hotel at asupurb location"
Prewar building. First, I want to say that my expectations were low, so I was pleasantly surprised and releaved. The check in time is 4pm, I arrived at 10am and by 10:15 I was already in my room. The staff was polite and efficient. The room was small (too small for two people) but clean and pleasant: typical interior for a boutique hotel, in beige and blue color with classical looking furniture. Since I read all the negative reviews, i was on the watch out for bugs, i saw none. The bathroom was fine and clean and had a big window (unusual for hotels). The room decor was pleasant. My room was on the 9th floor overlooking the courtyard (that is the windows of other rooms, no view). the room was next to the elevator. I did not hear the elevator at all. The room was very quiet, you can hear in the background faint city noise and a low hum like from some air-conditioner way below. The window opens sufficiently to let air in. The heater/air-conditioner does not make more noise than expected. If the hotel was kept in a better shape it would have been quite quaint. The bed sheets were clean and crisp, but there was a hole in one sheet, the bathroom towels were tin at spots, the bathroom fixtures were missing some caps, the night lamp had to be twisted in a specific angle in order to work, the curtains were very dusty and grayish rather than white color. The water pressure was strong but the shower head was no good and rather than a shower it was pouring the water. I needed a hotel for the day, at this specific location, and at this affordable price, the Wellington served the purpose. The whole hotel is non smoking.
We were here in early March 2017 for the National Art Education Conference. This hotel was one block away from the conference and close to all the New York sites we wanted to visit. The MoMA was right down the street! Central Park, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Plaza, and much more just blocks away. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was large for four people. Included a refrigerator and a sofa. This hotel was perfect for us and I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit New York.
"Good base for a New York stay"
We've just returned from a 4 night stay here, celebrating our 40th birthdays and feel it's a great location. They say it's the "city that never sleeps" and that is very true ? Wherever you stay in the city, you can't escape the traffic noise, so be prepared to put up with it, and a bit of advice, the higher the floor you stay on, the further from noise you are 😉 This hotel is very clean, staff are very efficient and it's got a great location. Wifi is not free though and New York is very expensive. Buy the New York Pass. It saves you a lot of cash if you do the main sites 😉 A 3 minute walk uptown gets you to Central Park and 6 minutes walking downtown, sees you on Times Square ! Being on 7th Avenue means you're only one parallel street away from Broadway and obviously just 2 away from 5th Avenue ! To gage distance, each block of 20 streets equal 1 mile exactly ! Great city, very good hotel and wouldn't hesitate in going back there with our teenage daughters next time ! ðŸ‘ðŸ¼
I would just like to thank the Wellington hotel for a fabulous stay while in NYC. Our room was a good size in a king room, it was cleaned on a daily basis and the shower was always hot. It was the perfect location to see and shop in NYC. A two minute walk to time square and Central Park plus a bonus of a subway stop right outside the door! This hotel is nothing fancy but in NYC you don't spend anytime except some hours of sleep in your room there is too much to see and do, so this hotel is the perfect location if that's what you are going to New York for.
