"No frills but fully satisfactory hotel"

My wife and I stayed here while I was attending a conference in the area. My wife worked remotely via the hotel wifi and found it fully satisfactory. She did complain that the sheets were not fully clean; the hotel left a note card saying they did not wash the sheets every day for 'green' reasons, so I understand, but they could have been cleaner. That aside, the hotel, is clean, centrally located, no noise, no other issues, and boasted an enthusiastic and supportive front desk. Hardly the grandest hotel in Philly, but did the job I asked it to do.

"Some unexpected surprises."

I stayed at Wyndham for a conference and was not particularly pleased with the way the hotel handles certain things. The first thing which I was not comfortable with is that if you are playing with a debit card, the hotel creates a hold of almost $200 which remains there for atleast a week or so. This creates problems for international students and tourists. Secondly, the wifi had severe connectivity issues during my stay there. Perhaps, this was a one time issue, but if the hotel wifi is not working this can be a severe issue for some one preparing to present at a conference. The hotel room was neat and tidy, but there was no fridge or microwave. I find that weird since most hotels in similar price ranges at least provide that. Last but not the least, the most crucial issue was the sound that the heater made. If I lowered the temperature to 60 the pipes made so much noise, it was impossible to sleep. So I was left with no option, but sleep in a cold room, or not sleep at all. I usually do not review hotels, but this was a pretty bad experience for the time I spent there and the price I paid. If you are on a work related trip and need tranquility and peace, I would suggest that you do not stay here. The plus is that it is close to the historic district in a beautiful city, so if you are traveling for fun or just need a place to crash which is near downtown Philly, take your chance.

"Very nice Hotel at a good price"

very nice hotel for a great price right in the heart of philadelphia's rich history of when this nation started

"Adequate accommodations, poor soundproofing"

The location is reasonably close to the Philadelphia Convention Center (10-15 minute walk) and the room is clean and adequate. Unfortunately, the soundproofing between rooms is so poor that I was wakened every morning by my next-door neighbor's alarm. I could hear his/her television, his/her walking around in the room...even his/her yawning! I am NOT a light sleeper or easily disturbed by noise. Another inconvenience, tolerable although annoying, was the dodgy climate control -- no matter how I adjusted the thermostat, the old heating/cooling wall unit swung between too hot and too cold. On the whole the hotel is acceptable; microwave and refrigerator in the room are welcome amenities.

"Exellent customer service; rooms and hallways need a facelift"

The staff at the hotel was excellent - courteous & efficient! The lobby was sleek, modern, and bright. The room hallways were dark, several elevator buttons didn't work, and while clean, the rooms were average and in need of repair. The beds were comfy but the sheet were wrinkled, and the wood molding was peeing in places - esp the bathroom. I expected more from a Wyndham re: room appearance and quality.
