"Clean and Efficient Hotel for Business"
Last night I stayed at the Wyndham Historic District and I was pleasantly surprised at find the hotel much improved after rebadging as a Wyndham. The former Holiday Inn property was never one of my favorites, but now I find it much refreshed. The desk and restaurant staff were super friendly and the room was clean and relatively up to date. I really liked the linens and found the room to be very quiet. They have nice smelling bath soaps and the free pod coffee in the room is acceptable. Best of all, is the the hotel's location. There are so many fantastic sights and restaurants you can walk to if you have some spare time. The restaurant streets are just a couple blocks away so just ask at the desk if you can't figure it out or aren't familiar. The Liberty Bell is just a short walk away!
"Connie and front desk staff are great, that is all"
I don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to do so with this visit. I knew from the moment I walked in the door this hotel would disappoint. Lobby is ok, Rooms are dirty and outdated. Front desk staff is very nice and Connie in the restaurant was extremely nice and accommodating. Wish I could say the same about the rude bartender working on the evening of 12/6/16. Connie went above and beyond to rectify the issues and turn my experience in the restaurant around. Unfortunately my room is dirty, shower covered in mold. My view outside is a cemetery! I am so disappointed at the organization that chose this hotel for a conference. I would never return here.
"Some good, some bad - but good price/value"
We stayed for 7 days Thanksgiving week and overall the hotel met our expectations. The thermostat was not working the first night (we checked in late) but was fixed during the next day and worked for rest of stay. Rooms do not come with suitcase stand, but we were offered one if we wanted it. There was no clock in room; front desk confirmed there should be and offered one if we wanted. Phone message light was on second day and we had to try twice to get code to access (no message to retrieve anyway) to end the blinking light. Room was not serviced/cleaned Thanksgiving Day (front desk blamed on low occupancy??) and maid left apology note the next day. Service in all areas of hotel was friendly. Lots of restaurants in the area so we made little use of the onsite restaurant except for 3 breakfasts -- which were serviceable and same pricing level as other restaurants in area. Overall, the room was clean (bathroom shower/tub showed some age issues, but was clean), room amenities were fine, bed was fine, quiet except for Thanksgiving Day when hotel was filled with teenage parade participants. WONDERFUL location; our room had a view of Christ Church cemetery and access to many historic locations. A good price/value if you pay equivalent to a 3-star expected rating.
Hotel had a great location central to lots of things. The rooms could use a little updating. Staff was friendly and made good food recommendations.
"Lovely little hotel"
Just around the corner from Ben Franklin's Grave and a few blocks to Independence Hall theirs hotel was perfectly located and comfortable. The staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. Room was clean and comfortable. Taxi stands right outside the hotel made for easy getting around and if you are willing to wander a few miles Redding Terminal and South Street are easy to get to. Love this part of Philly and I would Absolutely stay here again!
