"Business trip with on property meetings and receptions...."
I love the Hotel Palomar. I love the location, I love the rooms (although a refresh should be forthcoming), I love the amenities...but most of all....I love the staff (that's you Bleu, Mark, Colin et al). This visit was for business but it was a pleasure. My organization booked the Palomar upon my recommendation...so I was in the "hot seat". I was confident that my colleagues would enjoy the property as much as I do... and I was right. The meeting rooms were ample, the food wonderful and the service top notch. Thank you Hotel Palomar for making me look good! PS: coming back in early December for pure fun and enjoyment...see you then!
"Prime Kimpton Location in Chicago"
We recently stayed a night at the Kimpton Palomar in Chicago and were overall, very impressed. First, check-in was a breeze and I was able to use one of my free upgrades for an awesome corner suite room. The room was clean, spacious, and had an awesome bathroom w/ jacuzzi. The hotel itself is in a great location, has a grocery store across the street, and is located just a few short blocks from Michigan Ave and all of the shopping. The staff was wonderful and very attentive with all of our needs, a staple with just about all Kimpton properties. Couple minor things: The climate control could use some attention, we slept fine and were quite comfortable, but overall felt our room was on the warmer side. The elevators are a little slow, but we were there for pleasure so were never in a rush. Outside of those minor things, this hotel is great. The location really makes this amazing, as you are located within walking distance to all of the Chicago staples. What this hotel lacks from a unique style aspect (i.e. Kimpton Gray much more chic in my opinion), it makes up for in service, location, and surrounding amenities. We will most definitely be back.
"Anniversary weekend "
This place is everything the reviews say. Staff is curt but friendly, location is absolutely perfect, room is clean ans spacious, bed and pillows ultra comfy. Staff at sable bar also very friendly. This hotel earns it's stars. Pay extra for the suite with Jacuzzi tub- it's worth it!
"Urbane experience in walking distance to most things"
While the space off State Street is very tight for driving, the outside patio and the adjacent plaza gives the feeling of a spacious gathering area. The lobby lounge is long and narrow, and great for quiet conversation during the wine service. While the restaurant isn't large, the offerings are very good. The crunchy sweet potatoes and the barbecued cauliflower are great treats at the end of the day. The fitness center is compact with a few machines and hand weights, but a great view. The narrow pool is a nice feature on the top of the building for relaxing while looking at the cityscape. The rooms have clean lines, adequate work space and relaxing seating options. Definitely will be returning.
"Mom and daughter trip"
We arrived Monday and departed Thursday. We had a double queen on the 15th floor. It was a corner room with a nice view towards Michigan Ave. The beds were comfortable and the linens soft. The complimentary toiletries were worth using. There is no fan in the bathroom. The decor has been refreshed with a sliding barn door to the bathroom. The color scheme of our room was tan and red and the carpeting had happy red flowers on a tan background. The mini bar is devoid of anything nutritious, just booze and M&Ms and a snicker bar. Some bottled water too. Nice location a couple of blocks from Michigan Ave so you can shop till you drop. There is a pool on site with towels but no changing area. Our room had two robes which I always appreciate. At night there is a complimentary wine tasting at 5pm with a white or red wine. The first night I was there the red was exceptional. Another night the red was just so so. One night they offered a small spoon serving of beet with ricotta at the wine affair. There are no coffee or tea machines in the room but there is freshly brewed coffee and tea in the lobby in the mornings only and water with lemon wedges in the hall. The lobby has a gas operated fireplace that creates a cozy space. The lobby is large with adequate seating that we were able to have Chicago relatives in for a visit. While the bar rocks, the lobby remains quiet enough for a visit. The towels were soft and absorbent and an upgraded quality. There is only one chair in our room and no side table that would allow one to read and drink a warm beverage. No quality newspapers in the lobby either which is a disappointment to this traveler. Cost for three nights about 806 dollars. I requested a room away from the ice machine and elevators.
