"Great location, but that’s all!"
Not impressed or happy about our stay here. Under renovation which is an understatement. Took approximately 10-15 minutes to check in due to 3 girls at desk not sure what rooms were ready etc. had to wait for one to go up and check. It was total chaos just trying to get our room. Finally got to room, it was ok. Nothing spectacular as they suggested it was. Bathroom was super tiny. Went to get ice, ice machine down from our room, wasn’t even plugged in. No ice, went to the next floor, ice machine didn’t work, went to another floor, same thing. Went to lobby to ask where could I get ice, employee said floor 15. Went up to the 15th floor, private event going on, NO ICE. Tied one other floor, finally got ice. Took 6 floors to find ice. Elevators were filthy, was speedy, but only because of the location.
"The worst, hands down. Close it now!"
The construction going on makes this hotel unsafe for habitation. The noise is due to drills and hammers trying to scrap every bit of tile off of every floor above, and the noise reverberates throughout the frame of the building and into every room. I recorded video because I was so incredulous at how loud it was. I expected the ceiling above me to start falling. It began at 8:15am one morning and 7:45am the next. This was on a Mon, Tues. They don't work on the weekend, so that's something. In fact we called on Sunday about the noise the heater in our room was making, which is laughable considering what came the next two days. The makeshift lobby is heated by a propane space heater that sent fumes up the elevators into hallways of the floors above, including the breakfast area. The staff, thank god, was very apologetic and accommodating, but they suffered as much as the guests. One front desk young lady was so sweet and helpful our hearts broke at what she was going through. The breakfast was great, as were the maids, and all of the staff. The desk clerk told us that it was an outside contractor that the onsite staff has no control over. I went up a back staircase to see what was actually going on, and it was a rag tag team of workers with outdated tools that were seemingly hired off the street. They laughed when I asked the to stop working until 9am. I don't know when the hotel was built, but if there was asbestos, it's in everyone's lungs. Unbelievable that local government would allow this place to operate.
"My Worst Hotel Stay in 40 Years"
Hotel under total renovation: No lobby, no restaurant or bar or anything. No hot water at 10pm or at 10am. Construction from 8-5, then moving furniture at night. Only 1 of the 4 elevators worked, and the only working one is monopolized by construction workers, maid carts. Dead bugs in 5th floor ice machine. The only positive was the offer of earplugs for the jack-hammering! No notice of renovations or discounts offered. When checking out 2 days early, and when I mentioned no hot water, clerk says that's why we are renovating. I can't believe both Holiday Inn and the holding company that owns this property know this is hotel is housing guests under these conditions? Something funny going on here.
"Hotel from hell "
No hot water- freezing room- smells damp - breakfast cold - dust filled lifts- and they are the best bits been travelling the world for over 30 years and this is by far the worst even told by staff how bad it is hotel should be SHUT! While much needed renovations are very very very very slowly carried out have spoken to head office and assures me we will be moved in the morning let's see ? Birthday holiday totally ruined by this poor 3rd world student hostel !!
"Worst hotel stay"
We were never notified that there would be renovations going on during our stay. The smell of wallpaper remover and other chemicals permeated the entire hotel. We had no heat in our room in below freezing weather. On the morning of our 3rd day a water pipe broke. Then the elevators were shut down. Since we were on the 9th floor this was extremely inconvenient. If it were not for the shuttle driver we would not have known that they were moving people to other hotels. We did finally get moved to another hotel. The front desk was little help through all of this.
