"Unacceptable Customer Service"

We booked our stay at the Omni Royal almost two months in advance and were really excited about this historic hotel, the rooftop pool, prime location in French Quarter, etc. When we arrived, we learned the hotel lost power that morning. The city was just recovering from some bad weather in the last few days and we could understand things happen with no fault of the hotels. The front desk staff informed us that we had the choice of staying at the Royal Orleans until they regained power (with no ETA of when this would be happening and it was about 95 degrees outside with no air conditioning) or stay at the Omni Riverfront hotel. While we were looking forward to staying in the French Quarter we opted to see what accomodations could be made at the Riverfront. They were going to charge us the SAME rate we were going to get in the French Quarter for a hotel over a mile away from the tourist district and told us we would be responsible for our transportation to the new hotel which would be about $15. Having just arrived in New Orleans, we now had to scramble to call other hotels in the area for a new reservation and ended up settling for something just outside the vincinity of the French Quarter. AND debated with them on waiving the cancellation rate. This "take it or leave it" attitude is completely unacceptable in this industry. While things happen, you cannot leave the burden of finding accomodations to the guest. I made an attempt to speak to the hotel manager and my call was not returned. I will not be staying at an Omni property.

"Amazing Anniversary Trip!"

My wife and I were looking for a hotel for an anniversary trip we had planned to New Orleans. Our first two trips to the city we stayed at the Country Inn & Suites on Magazine Street but decided we wanted to be closer to the French Quarter this time around. We booked the Omni Royal Orleans not only because of its central location, but also for its rooftop pool which we deemed essential to survive a July trip to New Orleans. The customer service we received from the staff hotel before we arrived was amazing. My wife likes taking baths so I requested a room with a tub. Kierra P. from reservations was very accommodating of my request and even upgraded our room to ensure we were satisfied. A few days prior to our trip I was contacted by Tia Jackson, a loyalty ambassador with the hotel, to see if we needed anything else arranged prior to arrival. I told Tia that we were celebrating an anniversary and she arranged for chocolate strawberries and champagne to be sent to our room! The hotel itself was more then we imagined. The location was a perfect mix of French Quarter feel without Bourbon Street rowdiness. The lobby and rooms were beautifully decorated. I think my wife wanted to take some of the decorations home haha. The rooftop pool and bar was a great way to spend a hot summer day. We managed to watch the 4th of July fireworks display from the observation deck which is an experience I will never forget. Our room had a balcony overlooking St. Louis Street which was the most relaxing part of the whole trip for me. I would sit out there for hours just relaxing and observing the French Quarter. You may find cheaper hotels in the same vicinity as Omni Royal Orleans but I think the price is worth it. My wife and I enjoyed the hotel so much that we plan on returning in October to celebrate my wife’s birthday (with a few friends and family this time). Thanks again to the wonderful staff that made our stay so special.

"Unfortunate circumstances"

First off it's a beautiful property and a great location! Comfy beds and exceptional staff. Couldn't give the 5 stars due to lengthy power outage in hot summer. Not hotels fault I guess but, they should've done something to compensate for the inconvenience.

"Decent choice for location."

The rates were higher than I usually spring for. But I didn't want to have to drive downtown and try to park. Location is ideal. Far enough away from Bourbon St. to avoid most of the drunken frat party crowd but close enough to be able to walk all over the French Quarter. Was a little disappointed to find no power in building when I arrived. No fault of the hotel, their transformer blew up that morning. The offered a stay at their sister property on the river, but I decided to stay anyway and see what happened. They comped me parking for the two nights and upgraded me to a King Suite. After going out to eat, I was maybe in the room for 2 hours before the lights came back on. So no big deal. I found all the staff exceptionally helpful and courteous. Although I didn't know about the rooftop pool when I booked, that alone made the stay worth it when the humidity made the 94 degree temperature feel like 113 at 11am. I would stay here again.

"Ruined NOLA experience"

THE BAD: Double charged for room and parking fees. rodents and roaches crawling around hotel. Rude valet parking attendant. Drunk guest woke up family numerous times in middle of night. Small rooms and uncomfortable beds. No breakfast. Overpriced. THE GOOD: Convenient location
