"Great hotel but avoid room service"
The hotel itself was amazing. Great location, friendly door staff, fast elevators, good views. We pre-ordered the pralines to be waiting in the room and they weren't. They didn't show up until late in the night and they were stale. Avoid room service if possible. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs - the music on the street below can carry on into the night. On the other hand, if you love music you're in for a treat - you'll likely be serenaded to sleep each night.
"Omni Royal Orleans"
In the heart of the French Quarter, the Omni Royal Orleans was the host for a conference I attended with a colleague. When we arrived we were greeted by the hotel staff. The lobby is beautiful, although there is a flight of stairs in either direction leading up to the main lobby space, just be aware if you're traveling with someone disabled. Check-in was prompt and we went to our rooms to drop off our bags. Being there for a conference, we had single king suits on the seventh floor. The seventh floor is also home to a rooftop bar, pool, gym, and observation deck that overlooks the Mississippi River and New Orleans. We enjoyed the view although we got in too late to try the rooftop bar. That's because we were out exploring the essential French Quarter stops which were well within walking distance: Preservation Hall and Pat O's were a block away, the Carousel Bar in the Monte Leon were a couple blocks, and Johnny's Po Boys shared the same street. We were in New Orleans for less than 48 hours and because of the location of this hotel we were able to see so much. Plus, they offer to hold your bags after checkout so no need to lug your bags around the day you're planning to leave.
Great place to stay, close to everything, great service, your able to look out on balcony to watch the street performers, great view, close to church, close to bourbon street, great resturant and bars in hotel
"Southern Comfort in New Orleans"
Every encounter with every staff member...whether at the door, front desk, concierge, gift store, housekeeping...impeccably friendly, authentic, and genuinely helpful!!! Convenient and safe location in the heart of the French Quarters too!
"Way short of expectations"
Over the years we've stayed in many Omni Hotels, we've always found them to be spacious but not opulent, comfortable and clean. We feel so strongly about this that we've not even left the hotel before we've written this review. Not the Omni Royal Orleans, its in a great location in a wonderful city but the hotel is easily the biggest disappointment in a hotel we've has in a decade and we've been to a lot. When we arrived we were upgraded to a court yard room, I'd hate to see the original room. At 335 USD a night you;d expect to have some room around the bed. Well the night we arrived we order room service, it was not physically possible to get the trolly (sides down) past the bed, so we ended up eating our 250 USD room service (ouch) 1 foot from the 40 inch TV, with sun glasses on. And the bathroom is so small that the toilet has to be installed so close to the wall that you can't physically sit straight on it. Have you ever tried taking a dump sitting at a 45 degree angle? As for cleanlines the air-conditioning return air ducts have so much dust on them you can visibly right your name, and one of our fresh towels has a wonderful red stain on it. The breakfast (which is great) and friendliness of the staff are the only things that drag our rating up on this hotel.
