"Great Location and Staff"

We had the misfortune of booking our trip the week of the historic snowstorm! Staff went above and beyond to make guests comfortable. Most of them were stuck at the hotel for a couple days, along with the guests. Everyone worked together to make the best of what could have been a bad situation. Great location - easy walk to downtown, across the street from the river. Restaurant staff was fantastic and food was delicious. Rooms are small and comfortable but noise can be a bit much. We were on the 5th floor and outside traffic was quite loud. Only issues we encountered were with housekeeping. It was spotty at best. Even when I called to get specific items, it was not delivered as requested. I had to go to front desk to get items and almost beg housekeeping staff to clean our room. They always seemed surprised we wanted our room serviced. We had put out the 'please clean the room' sign every day. Didn't help...at all. (This was after the 'off' snow day and when we first checked in.) Also, we could never figure out how to adjust temp in the room. No matter what we set the thermostat on, it was unbearably hot every night. Other than the daily frustrations with housekeeping and temp control, we didn't have any problems and would stay there again.

"Not Impressed...stayed at worse."

We stayed here for a couple night trip to Portland. What we enjoyed: The location near the water was decent and getting on and off the free way was easy (except when there is a bike race and they close the ramp). What we didn't like: Noisy. One of the noisier places we have stayed in a while. Door lock didn't work most of the time and they could not figure out how to fix it so we spent 2-3 hours of hour stay waiting by the door for someone to come let us in. Bathroom door handle kept falling off in our hand

"Cute Hotel"

We only stayed two nights at this hotel but were very happy with our stay. The location is great! We were able to walk just about everywhere we needed or wanted to go. It is in a quiet area compared to the Pearl District, but we liked being right on the river. That being said, we had a river view room, which was gorgeous, but you could hear the train and street traffic. It was fine once asleep, but I was woken up by the noise both mornings. The room was clean and modern. The beds were very comfortable! My only complaint about the room was the temperature. We were unable to get our room temp. below 78 degrees which was a little warm for us. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, especially in the restaurant downstairs. Overall, good hotel for or quick weekend trip to Portland!

"A Perfect Stay at the Hotel Rose without even a thorn!"

This is well appointed hotel with a friendly atmosphere. It is extremely well maintained and the rooms are spacious. The hotel sits close to the Willamette River but is also close to all downtown activities. It's only a few blocks from the art galleries and the famous Pioneer Square. Because of weather I was necessary for me to spend an extra night in Portland. The hotel was very accommodating and offered the best rate possible given my circumstances. I would highly recommend the pineapple cupcakes offered each day from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. When visiting Portland I would certainly stay there again.

"Great rooms, staff, food, and drink"

Lovely rooms with great beds and great views. The staff was very, very helpful. Bar and dining are excellent, too. The airport closed and we had to find a room for the night. After seven hotels said they were totally booked, one recommended the Rose. I found out later they were flooded with phone calls and a sudden burst of reservations. The staff handled the load gracefully. We were lucky that more people didn't already know about this little gem, or we would have been stuck in the airport! So let's just keep this between us: this is a great hotel.
