"Winter stay, average accomodations"

Dates: 01/13/2017 - Planned on staying in this hotel for 4 nights - checked out after one. I had booked this property MONTHS in advance. I'm very familiar with Ruby's as we've been there several times. They have the main lodge and many annex buildings. Since I had booked so far in advance, I assumed we'd be in the main lodge; however when we arrived we found out we were in one of the back buildings. I made a request to move to the main lodge and seriously got the run around. I had different people telling me different things. One even told me they had rooms, but had to get approval. I'm a Best Western Rewards member and was stunned at the treatment we received. We were in the Antelope lodge. The floor was very flimsy. Felt like you were walking on a piece of plywood. The beds were horrible. We didn't sleep hardly at all. There was some "Bryce-Con" going on while we were there. They seriously took over the hotel/pool. There are sofas and a sitting area by the pool. They were taken up the entire time by all these "gamers". They left their trash everywhere... Pool: If you want to use the pool, good luck walking outside in the winter. You have to walk through the icy parking lot to get to the main building. The pool was freezing too. Nice to play in during the winter - NOT. The hot tub had so many chemicals it burned your eyes to sit in it. We gave up and left. Speaking of icy parking lot. We had a truck and snowmobile trailer and the hill getting up to the Antelope lodge was so icy that we couldn't make it up the hill. We slid down the hill and ended up sliding into two parked cars. This is negligence on their part in keeping the parking lot cleared. We had a lot of damage to our trailer, and those two parked cars. They should take better care in cleaning that hill or close that area to cars. There's no free breakfast and the restaurant is expensive and the food is average. When you're the only game in town, that's what you get. FYI - in winter months this is the ONLY restaurant in 25 miles. We checked out and moved across the street to the other Best Western. MUCH nicer hotel and the staff was much nicer.

"Bryce Canyon in the winter"

The hotel was just OK. The best thing about it is the beautiful lobby with the fireplace. The restaurant is the only game in town in the winter and they know it they're not too motivated when you show up. There's no buffet in the winter, which is OK cause we're not buffet people. The menu food is just OK nothing too special. The staff just seems kind of bored and not interested. Not to dampen our spirits this is a beautiful getaway in the middle of winter. It's a small group in the winter so you see a lot of the same people again and again throughout the parking at that hotel and restaurant, and there seems to be a little camaraderie there.

"Big hotel complex with good facilities on site"

We stayed here for just one night during a coach tour. We were allocated a nice clean ground floor room which was well equipped with all the usual things plus a fridge, microwave and coffee making equipment. It was let down a little by very poor TV reception (unwatchable) and a shower with poor temperature control. I’m sure that these would have fixed if we had stayed more than one night. Aircon was effective and fairly quiet. Ruby's is a big hotel complex catering mainly for Bryce Canyon visitors. Everything seemed to be owned by the hotel including the large on-site general store selling souvenirs, clothes and food. The hotel also had the only proper restaurant close by which was very busy; that said, we only had a short wait for a table. The service was efficient and friendly, however the food could have been hotter, especially the vegetables (wish I’d sent it back). We didn’t bother with breakfast and had some nice bread rolls from the store instead. We would happily visit again, but only for a short stay.

"Great base for Bryce Canyon"

We stayed here two nights and have no complaints about our stay. Surprised to read such negative reviews. The location was perfect and only a short walk to the shuttle station on the opposite side of the road or a 10-15 minute drive to the viewpoints in Bryce Canyon. The room itself was basic but comfortable and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, fridge etc. I found it to be very good value for money. Ruby’s Inn is all about the location and convenience; it is not aimed to be a luxurious stay and I think that is reflected in the price. There is a huge gift shop and onsite grocery store selling alcohol. Reasonably priced. Cowboys buffet and steak room next to reception can get very busy but we were not waiting more than 10 mins for breakfast or lunch/dinner. Bear in mind that this is a busy place where many people stop even if not staying onsite. It is going to be busy so a little patience is required. The food was not a la carte, but was more than adequate. The canyon diner is next to the main lodge and within a 2 minute walk and serves breakfast and fast-food throughout the day. Convenient for a quick bite and was a cheaper option to that of the restaurant. Ebinezers bar and grill is also across the road (separate review). It is also the main base for activities such as horse riding/ATVS. Great base, friendly staff, everything we needed onsite and more. Happy customers.

"best place, no complimentary breakfast"

this place has the best 'lobby' and hall way in all of the bestwestern's i have visited so far (not many, may be some 15+). The rooms are large and comfy, restaurant is ok for a vegetarian (meat lovers may enjoy more). The proximity to bryce canyon NP makes this a strategic place to stay in your long roadtrip. So why one star less? 1. It was not clearly mentioned anywhere that the breakfast here is NOT complimentary. I stay in BWs because they save me time and money every morning with the complimentary breakfast, when I am in a hurry to go on with my tourist attractions., but this place I missed the fineprint that its not. I paid some $11 for buffet breakfast which is not very great for a vegetarian. Its not a big deal but if you are travelling with family, thats like $45 additional expenditure.. Just note this point., as I said, its not a big deal (always). 2. The stairways and one of the 4 rooms we booked were stinking with probably dirty carpet smell.. I understand this problem in a snowing place but that is surely avoidable. We reported it to the reception, may be they will take care of the next visitor. 3. The hotel is old so that explains why the hot water is not consistently hot when you r taking shower with -20°C outside.. It sure will give you an unpleasant surprise but thats just for a second or two.. is that ok for you? This also has been reported but I doubt if they can do anything to their pipes. May be its just a bad day for us with all the Christmas crowd.
