"A tired hotel near beautiful Bryce National Park"
This hotel might have been nice 30 years ago but nothing had been remodeled and there were no extras. The pillows were old and lumpy; the lighting was dim; the carpeting was in need of repair and there were lots of huge tour groups milling around. The location was only a few miles from the park and there was a store there- which was helpful.
"Conveniently located but very outdated"
If you are looking for a hotel conveniently located to Bryce Canyon National Park, Ruby’s is the place. The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. However, the Inn is in need of a remodel; very outdated.
"When you have cornered the market.."
Apparently "Ruby' owns just about anything in Bryce so options are limited. We opted to spend our one night at the BW Plus Ruby Inn and found it to be good for one night. Wouldn't want to spend more time. The room is very dated and reminded me of the motels I stayed as a youngster criss crossing the States (basic, worn and dated). On the pro side, our room (7530) faced the lake, was fairly large with two queen beds, separate toilet and shower and wifi (note: worked on date of check in, apparently was turned off on our date of departure although we hadn't checked out). Also on the plus side was the ice maker not working (our room was next door so glad it wasn't working). Cons: dated and worn room decor, a dirty towel was left in the bathroom, bath enclosure while clean squeezed like crazy when stepped on (I wonder if someone a little heavier than I would crack it), door to the closet which was outside the shower/toilet room when opened totally covered the door to the bathroom so beware if coming out you may run into it (oddest configuration I've seen in a long time). Mini-refrig was noisy. The hotel has a grocery, which appears to have a good supply and pretty packed. There was a line to the breakfast room (not included, so we skipped it) which moved slowly due to the number of tours and visitors. This is a fairly large motel spread over a number of buildings. Has a laundromat. The town rolls up at about 7 pm. We were at the door to the ice cream parlor (across the street from the motel) at 7:03 and they could care less of serving us (our fault for not checking times I guess). Check in was easy and the staff were friendly. No issues there.
"Comfortable, clean, good location"
We don't spend tons of money on a room, we prefer to be outside and explore. Our room was clean, the staff friendly, the location was perfect. The restaurant buffet was better than I expected, the "diner" was not good. We ate at the Bryce Lodge which I recommend.
"No options and no handicap assistance "
Stayed here one night (thank goodness). Check in was easy but communication poor as English was a challenge for staff. Handicapped daughter was given farther east room and was no told by front desk there was no elevator which clearly there was after we struggled to get her to room. Room was dark dingy and poorly constructed. Overpriced at best. The diner was a nightmare. Food was fast food but again communication caused order failures like a simple plain hamburger couldn’t be comprehended. Had a similar problem at a best western before so I won’t ever be back.
