We stayed as part of a road trip at Capitol Reef. First thing - location - Wow !!! As with a lot of places located in national parks, it is set in the middle of some fantastic scenery with the canyon right in front of you. We opted to stay in the teepee as a bit of a different night time experience and it didn’t disappoint. I will say on the search on the website this came up as suitable for 3 adults but there was only a king size bed in there and one of us had to sleep on a camp bed. I think this has changed on the website now but it didn’t subtract from the experience we had. The teepees are set amidst cabins all of which looked as though they had the same fantastic view. You also get your own private bathroom located approx 1 min walk away from the teepee and where lovely inside. The staff were very attentive and courteous. They took our bags to the teepee and made sure the huge campfire was lit as the sun set and the night sky took over, which was magical. We saw the Milky Way, heard coyotes and watched rabbits jump about as the sun came up the next morning and colours on the canyon change as the sun set and rose again. One thing - it gets cold at night so bring something warm - there was a heater in the teepee but it was still pretty cold. All in all a pretty amazing experience I will never forget.
"Comfort and Views"
When we walked in the king room we reserved, we immediately opened the drapes and the view of the red rock formations was breath taking... we arrived late afternoon in cold November and the sun lit up the rocks! Then we settled into our room which was spacious with lots of storage and a very comfortable bed. Small kitchenette, nicely appointed bath and comfortable sofa and chairs for sitting. Unfortunately too cold to sit on the balcony. The breakfast buffet was good, dinner was expensive and disappointing in the hotel dining room, but not much else available in town.
"Great Place To Stay"
Close to the park, clean, friendly, all the amenities you could ask for and the winter rates are super affordable. The breakfast was good and adorable for all you can eat at $10 a person. Love everything about this place. Thank you for a great stay!
Decided to do a get away for New Years. Although this is definitely their off season, our 2 bedroom cabin was quite comfy and enjoyed site seeing thru Capitol Reef National Park. Initially was told the restaurant would not be open so we brought our own food supplies to ring in the New Year and was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant open so enjoyed appetizers before our own 'cabin' cooked meal. The full kitchen (minus an oven) worked out very well. Had it been normal season we would certainly have enjoyed using the grill and eating outside on the very comfortable deck and taking in the beautiful view it faced. The breakfast buffet at the restaurant the next morning was better than expected. Would. definitely recommend to others to stay here when visiting Capitol Reef.
"Most comfortable sitting chair ever in hotel"
I stayed three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a king superior w/ private carpeted balcony (including 2 chairs and small table) overlooking the red cliffs to the north; pretty sweet laying in bed watching the cliffs light up at sunrise. The room was very spacious and luxurious. Since I was interested in watching college football on New Year's Day, the room had a very comfortable sitting chair; I have never experienced a similarly comfy chair anywhere during my travels. Moreover, they have DirecTV which means lots of HD channels!! One minor negative (not really) was that the bathroom was not proportionately large like the room. Merely an artifact of the original hotel. In winter, there are few choices for food, namely the restaurant at this hotel and the Red Cliffs restaurant; all else closed for the season. If visiting Capitol Reef, this is the only place to consider so plan ahead because Torrey is tiny.
