My son and I stayed at this property on a recent trip to the USA. We booked a Red Cliff View 2 bedroom cabin. The cabin was situated about 200 metres from the main hotel in a string of cabins that faced open land and a small cliff. The view was not outstanding, but the outlook was quite peaceful and relaxing. The cabin has a large verandah that faces the cliff. There is a private BBQ and outdoor setting on the verandah. The cabin itself has a bedroom at each end, with a kitchen and living area in the middle. The cabin is well appointed and quite comfortable. The queen sized beds were also very good. The bedrooms are on the smaller side and could not accommodate a lot of luggage. The living area is suitable for 4 people, but would be a squeeze beyond that. It was ideal for my son and I. Given that we were there in the off season, there were not many people at the resort. The price was also extremely good value. We would have been happy to stay they for a few more nights if our schedule would allow. It may be different in the holiday period, however, because it appears the resort is set up for a lot of family activities. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we would not hesitate to stay at this property again in the off-season. During the off-season it is very suitable for couples wishing to have a quiet and relaxing time, as well as families that might be travelling through the area.
"Just a Clean bed with Parking"
As expected. No restaurant or food abd everything at 8 PM shuts down. Small town and advise getting your own food. Good view but nothing spectacular. Good bed and average WiFi. Something about the AT&T tower was down. No cell coverage. Most businesses look closed. Will not recommended unless its a mandatory stop.
Had a room with a balcony and the view was amazing. Beautiful, comfortable rooms with modern amenities. Bath, free wifi, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, cable TV all in room. Location was good with just a short drive to Capitol Reef NP. Be aware that a lot of things are closed here for the winter. I had minimal groceries with me and had no choice but to use the attached hotel restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was $US10 for a buffett. Good selection. Dinner was around $US14 and only one vegetarian option. It was an average meal. Staff were a little unfriendly on check in. Restaurant staff however were excellent.
Capitol Reef Resort sits at the end of Torrey, right before the National Park. YOU feel as if you are at the edge of civilization (in a good way) with all the amenities. We stayed in a room with a great view. There are also tee pees, and perhaps covered wagons to stay in. The staff was very helpful. We were there for New Years Eve. They served a good dinner, and pulled together a cold buffet for all the guests, with apologies for it not being more elaborate. The off season price was very reasonable.
"Great find, but KILL the porch flood light PLEASE!!!"
We were passing through for a night and needed a clean, safe place to stay. This was one of the few places open for the season. Wow! Were we surprised with our room! It was so warm and cozy, clean, comfortable and incredibly well appointed. There were multiple options for heaters so even in the dead of winter, we were comfortably sleeping in just a T shirt. Our room (503) had blue tooth speakers, fridge, microwave and coffee maker, plenty of closet space, a comfortable King bed, sitting area and large modern shower. Even the toiletries were quite nice. The location was great, just outside the park. We were there in December and for less than 24 hours, so I can't speak for the pool or outdoor areas, but we did enjoy sitting on our rocking chairs with a glass of wine under a blanket looking at the stars after our late evening check in. MY ONLY GRIPE, AND IT'S A BIG ONE, IS THAT THEY HAVE ON A FLOOD LIGHT ON THE PORCH ALL NIGHT. It's high up past the top of the curtain so it shone into our room all night. There was no switch to turn it off and the front desk was unable to override it. WHY???? Is this a high crime area?? If it's for safety, they could position it elsewhere. They have these blackout curtains which are useless when you have a flood light shining into your room. If I hadn't had a sleep mask which I hate using but pack for bad hotel situations such as this, I wouldn't have been able to sleep since I'm a very light sleeper.
