Over Delano Las Vegas

"Gorgeous, but pricey amenities"

   26-03-2017
This hotel is a perfect overnight stay if you have concert tickets. The Delano shares a lobby/casino with Mandalay Bay, so if you're going to see Michael Jackson ONE or anything in the Mandalay Event Center, the rooms at the Delano are actually closer than the Mandalay. Also, Delano rooms are suites forb about the same price as Mandalay, so the extra space is a plus for families and groups. For $232, our Delano room had 1 bedroom, plus living room with sofa, plus bar area with sink and mirror, plus 1 and 1/2 bath. It was perfect for 4 women getting ready for a concert. The room itself is very pretty. Simple, but we'll appointed. Comfy beds. Decent view. There were 3 TVS - living room, bedroom and bathroom. Closets were lighted, and there's a safe. The 2 queen beds were comfy. Note, none of the Denalo rooms have pull out sofas, so the only beds are the two queens or one king you have in the bedroom. The sofa is small and would be suitable for a younger child or very petite adult, but they would actually be sleeping on a sofa, not a pull out sofa bed. The half bath was adequate - toilet and sink, good lighting, good mirror. The bigger bathroom was OUTSTANDING. It had two sinks and a big mirror plus a well-lit close-up mirror. There is a shower plus a very big bathtub for soaking. Very nice. Also, the toilet in this bath area is separated by its own door, so someone can be doing hair /makeup at the vanity while someone else is going potty with privacy. That was a bonus with 4 girls getting ready for a show. What I didn't like about this room was the nickel-and-dime aspect to their amenities. Yes, there's a little wet bar and a mini fridge. But everything is on an electronic sensor, so if could touch anything, it automatically gets added to the bill. I don't usually have minibar items, but I'll take a look. I turned a bottle of alcohol to see what it was, and that minor movement automatically came up as a room charge. Also, there was a little coffee machine but you pay for use of the coffee cup itself. I lifted up the coffee cup to see the price and I was floored to see a price tag on top: $4.50 if you use the cup or the sugar or the creamer inside. Get that? You pay for the use of the coffee cup. No other opyion in this room. The front desk staff was nice enough and easily removed those items from our bill. But be aware, especially if you have kids with the wiggles or throw your bag on the wet bar counter -- if you bump something and don't double check it before you leave, you will be charged for that item. And let's be honest: $4.50 for the use of a coffee cup is kind of ridiculous, especially when you're already spending a couple hundred dollars a night to stay at a hotel which offers in-room coffee. Also, no complimentary water bottles here like other hotels and resorts in the area provide. By comparison, I stayed at the Trump a couple months ago for a business conference. Think what you like about politics, but that hotel room was fully stocked with all the amenities, complimentary coffe, water, etc. Seems a small concession for a $200+ room.

"Home away from home"

Excellent rooms and service. The rooms were so spacious and clean. Laundry service was 24hrs so this didn't disappoint. Coffee bar at reception is quite good and not that expensive. Breakfast area Farm Fresh food is fantastic. Overall a great place to stay.

"Great Hotel"

Beautiful large 2 bathroom suite was well appointed, immaculate and extremely comfortable. A friendly staff, great Location and a spectacular view from its rooftop lounge. Several pools for both adults and families to choose from, and well as great dining options within the Mandalay Bay complex which also to included a good casino smoking ventilation system.

"First Delano Experience"

   22-03-2017
We stay here (the Hotel, now Delano) every year during the college basketball tournament for the best access to the MB sports book. Last year we were kicked over to MB, so this was our first Delano experience. I really like the overall renovation of the lobby, bar and reception area. The ambiance was perfect, the occasional band was a nice touch, and the daily quotes made me smile. We had a king suite facing the strip - excellent views. The rooms as noted, were not completely gutted, leaving the bathroom areas relatively untouched, but I thought the the furnishings, carpet and wallpaper were really well done. My husband and I both really enjoyed the mattress - super comfortable. I also appreciated the mobile check-in; knowing my room number before even arriving at the hotel is a great touch. This was the first time I took advantage of the separate Delano Beach Club pool area as well. I really liked it. If you can forego the wave pool, the Delano pool has better chairs, dedicated service, and a much more relaxed, grown up atmosphere. I had my pick of chairs and never waited long for a drink. Highly recommend. Besides the steep nightly rates (I assume due to the basketball, IBM and Home Depot conferences??), my biggest complaint is that our shower had an unbearable piercing sound. I thought I heard the same coming from another room as well, so it might be a pervasive issue. Lastly, I saw a note that said no robes - I thought the same but then found them on the back of the bathroom door. If I could offer any tip to increase the luxury level of this hotel (and my star rating) it would be to improve the robes. They are not warm and comfy, but rather rough and scratchy. A soft robe could compensate for many a grievance.

"Nice hotel but not a good value"

   22-03-2017
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and the room was adequate, but the rooms have no space for your clothing. The only area is the closet for hanging clothes and no drawer space. We actually had to operate out of our suitcases. The rooms are what I would call minimalist rooms. Very little furniture, and small TV's. You can get a much better room for less other places.
