"One of my Favorite LA Hotels"
This is one of my favorite Marriott hotels. Its location, gym, amenities, pool are great. its a cheap cab or uber ride to Manhattan beach. parking is always plentiful. Lots of people around the bar area so you have entertainment if you are landlocked at the hotel.
"The renovated rooms are just right - can't get much better near LAX"
Just spend a single night in one of the renovated rooms at this airport Marriot. But don't let the phrase "airport" throw you off. The hotel is convenient to the airport (though the short drive can be longer than expected due to traffic) and there is not a lot in the area. But the hotel itself is a welcome oasis. There is a courtyard pool that makes you feel almost as if you are at a resort. Nice sunshine and breezes and a good size pool in addition. The new rooms are terrific. A big, walk-in shower -- a new trend in hotels that is welcome. The only time I prefer a tub is when it is deep enough to soak in, a rarity indeed. The bed was among the most comfortable I have enjoyed in my many, many days on the road. The outlets were plentiful and convenient. I so welcomed that small bit of thoughtfulness -- I hate digging behind a night table or bed, desperately seeking a way to charge my various electronics. Wifi was steady, and the air conditioning worked quietly and efficiently. There is a good steak place and a Starbucks in the lobby. Highly recommended.
"This location is as convenient as it gets..."
I have to say, flying out of Burbank - even for a gross 7am flight - was a breeze. We arrived around 3pm, and I dropped the family off after checking in and returned my car to the car rental place at the airport. Guess what? It's right across the street! Even closer than it is to the arrivals terminal! Hahaha! So I had the rental car returned and I was back at the hotel in like 10 mins! When has that ever happened to anyone? Not me! There are a zillion restaurants across the street if you don't feel like eating at the hotel. My kids had McDs, I had Del Taco, and my hubby had sushi (we brought our food back to the room to eat). The hotel itself is your typical Marriott - slightly aging, nice pool area, expensive parking. We upgraded our room to a one-bedroom, with two double beds and a sofa-bed. It was worth the extra money for us, since we have 3 tall family members that all need their own bed. The WiFi wasn't great - and was especially bad in the bedroom area. That was disappointing for my kids who were trying to watch some streaming shows before bed. We took the shuttle to the airport. It runs every 10 mins from 5am. Even at 5:30am, the van was quite full - and a couple of people had to stand. I'd stay here again if arriving late or flying out early. Not sure if I'd stay otherwise, since Burbank has nicer areas (we also stayed downtown and loved it there), but it's a nice alternative.
"Decent hotel near airport "
I stayed here for one night for a business meeting. The shuttle to and from the LAX airport was quick and friendly. The hotel rooms on the higher levels are under construction so I got a room on one of the lower levels which I believe are not renovated as the bathroom and carpets were a little worn. However, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. My room service breakfast came exactly at the time I requested it. It was also surprisingly quiet for being so close to the airport. Would stay here again if I needed to be close to the airport.
Right firstly I shall state that I spent the first night of my current holiday to California at the Renaissance at Heathrow prior to my flight. Then at the end of my trip I have stayed at the Marriott Fishermans Wharf, so I have a got quite a good idea of Marriott properties! I have also stayed at this hotel before and was completely satisfied. Recently I read previous trip reports from folk saying this hotel is currently under going renovations. However I was not prepared for my awful experience. The pickup shuttle from the airport was okay and convenient. We checked in and after asking for a low floor, I was absolutely horrified to walk into a very out dated room and to make matters even worse I looked out the window onto the building site. There was construction workers staring straight into our room, so we had to draw the curtains. I took photographs as the scene was unbelievable. Reception told me there were no other two bedded low floor rooms available. Therefore we had to put up with this room. We walked to the pool but again this is under renovation with many area cordoned off by tape. The pavers around the pool area which being are being patch repaired will look horrible. Surely they can afford to replace the whole paved area? On finding this pool area somewhat unpleasant, we went for a meal in the Lattitude restaurant. The meal was acceptable and the staff very friendly. However this is another area of this hotel which is in a time-warp. It is very outdated and somewhat dilapidated. The furnishing are old fashioned and the whole decor is very old & shabby. I shall not be returning to this hotel unless I read the renovations are finished and complete. Stay away would be my advice.
