Los Angeles is een grote, uitgestrekte metropool en qua oppervlakte de grootste stad van het land. Los Angeles is eigenlijk een verzameling van woongebieden, samen goed voor net zoveel inwoners als heel Nederland! Het subtropische klimaat en de ligging aan de Pacific maken een bezoek aan Los Angeles het hele jaar door mogelijk.
"I was warned - Wait for the renovation to be done"
I was warned by reviews on Tripadvisor regarding the disruption caused by the renovation, but i opted to book this airport Marriott. The property is undergoing a renovation, and this seems to have created some disruption including a power outage at the time of my arrival. First a few positive points, the updated rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and in working order. The food in the hotel's restaurant was pretty good. The location is convenient if you have an early flight the following day. A few negatives, the hotel seems either poorly managed or under-staffed. My key could not be made at the time of check-in, and I had to be let into my room, which was understandable because of the power outage and fine. However, the staff failed to keep the promise to create my key and bring it to my room shortly. After waiting 40 minutes (keep in mind, I can't really leave the room without a key), I called to ask about the keys. I was repeatedly placed on hold. Eventually, I reached an operator who said the key would be ready soon. I lost patience and opted to visit the hotel's lounge, which was nice, but over-crowded with some low quality snacks. I eventually went to the front desk, waited on line and eventually got my keys. The aforementioned restaurant also seemed understaffed. It took over 30 minutes to get my burger. I was not particularly bothered, but the noise proofing is not great and the airplanes landing and taking off at the nearby airport can be heard. Finally, the desk is located on the same wall as the TV, which made it difficult to work and watch TV.
The hotel is finishing a remodeling that has taken over a year. The new room updates are very good but they can not seem to get the air conditioning quieter so that one is able to sleep. Drinks in the lounge are not free as in some other hotels and, if fact, they are fairly pricey. The shuttles to the airport are not at a set time but one is told "run continuously." If you plan to shuttle back to the airport expect a wait of 10 to 20 minutes at the hotel which is not good.
Wasn't very impressive with it. Staffs weren't that friendly and check in is rather slow. Hotel looked like was having upgrade at point of staying but wasn't inform. Wifi is lousy to the max. Will not stay again.
"A Short Stay that Significantly Exceeded Expectations"
My wife and I stayed at the LAX Airport Marriott for 1 night in late November as we transited through LAX. I used points for booking the room. The shuttle from and to the airport was seamless as was check-in at the hotel. We were in a room on the same floor as the M Lounge. As a Marriott Rewards Gold member, we had access to the newly renovated M Lounge. My wife has celiac disease and I had corresponded with the hotel's GM about her need to eat a gluten-free diet. Our expectations were significantly exceeded when we discovered that the chef had made all the food (other than bread) for the evening appetizers in the lounge gluten-free. My wife was also offered gluten-free bread and other options for breakfast the next morning. It was wonderful to watch, from our room and the M Lounge, the long line of airplanes land and take-off every few minutes. The service provided by the staff at the lounge, the check-in desk, the bell desk and the shuttle were truly exemplary. I was extremely impressed by our short stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay near LAX.
"Renovation taking place but a good property"
Conveniently placed, good service. Their hotel is a bit expensive (breakfast buffet cost $30 with tips). There is a lot of construction going on but the staff is very polite in explaining it to you and offering to move your room if you so wish.
