"Lovely hotel"

The Carmel Mission Inn is a reasonably priced, pleasant hotel for those travelling down from San Francisco to LA. Its near to Carmel (2 miles), Point Lobos State Natural Reserve (2 miles), Monterrey(5 miles) and 17 Mile Drive (6 miles). It can be a little difficult to find as a Chevron garage blocks the view of it from the road, so its worth looking on Google maps before you set off. The decent sized rooms are very clean, with nice beds, furniture and shower. There is a swimming pool if you fancy a swim and an on site bar come restaurant. There are also other restaurants minutes walk away. The room price includes a hot and cold buffet breakfast.

"very good "

one night stay very good price. the room was clean with good quality linen nice beds a safe fridge coffee machine iron hair dryer etc and a swimming pool on site. price included breakfast and that was ok too a little walk from carmel but very good access to highway one staff where very helpful and seemed pleased to help nothing was to much trouble for them.

"Great Stopover driving down Pacific Highway"

Stated here for 1 night stopover on our way from San Francisco down Pacific Coast Highway to Los Angeles. Pleasantly surprised. Hotel lovely and a great complex called The Barnyard just behind it. Loads of shops and restaurants. Great place.

"Touch of Class at the Crossroads."

For most of our road trip around California and thereabouts, we stayed at Holiday Inns, which are great, but the Carmel Mission Inn had a touch of class. It is conveniently located just on the edge of Carmel, and is surrounded by useful places like restaurants, pharmacies, Starbucks and a gas station with a well stocked store. The room was comfortably sized rather than spacious, but the style, decor, chairs and an excellent bed made it a place we liked to come home to. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, but we did enjoy breakfast in the room first morning, with enough food to last us for two days. The grounds are attractively planted and the outdoor pool looked inviting. We walked into Carmel one morning, a decent length of stroll. Plenty of quaintness down there, but the coffee roasters didn't have a restroom and the public ones were not too much to our liking . We preferred the unsophistication of Monterey and Cannery Row - the Wax Museum is good fun as well as a history lesson. We tried to visit the Stevenson House in Monterey, but it only seemed to be open on Saturdays; be aware. We also took a drive down Highway One as far as Big Sur, stopping for the views and the photos at the amazing Bixby Bridge. One evening we ate at Rio Grill across the way at The Crossroads shopping centre. We had excellent sirloin and even better all the wine was half price by the bottle, including some superb Carmel Valley Zinfandel.

"Highly recommend"

Room was beautiful, clean and spacious. Very close to Carmel by the sea and also Carmel Mission. The front desk was a great source of information for dining suggestions. Breakfast was a buffet reasonably priced. Overall a great value.
