"Heating disabled - wtf?!"

The heating could not be turned on in a night with 7 degree celsius (44F) same about inside the room and we were traveling with our baby! Unfortunately we just realized this 1 hour after check-in and it was already late so we had no options left for that night. It is a real shame!! Room was really nicely decorated and everything super clean but I don't care about that if the health of my family is at risk.

"week stay for work"

I was put in this motel by my agency when doing an assignment in the area. I enjoyed the motel room, quaint and comfortable. it opened onto a courtyard that included the pool and a small patio. The pool was fenced, creating an area where my dog could roam with supervision. The parking was plentiful, and they had Navajo tea in the rooms as a nice local touch. The bed was comfortable. There was no refrigerator or microwave, however the restaurant in the complex was open for breakfast and dinner. It is a fairly elegant restaurant with prices a bit higher than average, but probably average given environment and quality of food. It is convenient to day trips in the area, and also to the local stores for supplies.

"Nice hotel"

On the way to Las Vegas we stayed here. Not very far from Grand Canyon. The hotel is outdated and a little sketchy, not much stuff around it. The room itself was nice, not many other people staying in the hotel and they had a lot of rooms. There's not much stuff around the hotel, no places to eat expect fast food. Not my first choice to stay but it was the best we could get.

"There were bugs in our room!"

I'm so torn about this review. The room was average in size and amenities. Nothing special, very basic. The room seemed clean, bedding seemed clean and was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The room was very dark, though, and seemed a little cave-like with the brick wall, but that really wasn't a big deal. The hotel was packed and we had a long wait to check in...close to an hour. We did not eat at the restaurant, but the gift shop was WONDERFUL. We really loved the gift shop and bought way too much. My problem with the hotel was there were black beetles in our hotel room! When we first arrived, we thought it might have been because housekeeping left the door open while cleaning, allowing them to enter the room. There were a lot of black beetles in the parking lot and sidewalks in front of the rooms. My husband killed several, and we were hoping that was it. Wishful thinking. We kept seeing them throughout the evening, and my husband found a HUGE one in the bathroom. There were no other rooms available anywhere in Kayenta, so we really didn't have a choice but to deal with it. We checked the beds thoroughly and tried to get some sleep. The next morning, we all got up, except for my teenage son. As I was trying to get him up, I saw a beetle crawl across him on the bed. I was pretty ticked by this point. I've stayed in many hotels in my life, but never in a place where beetles were crawling over my children! We couldn't leave fast enough. All that said, I understand it's the desert, and bugs are an issue in the area. I understand the hotel can't control the bugs in the parking lot, nor can they demand people leave their doors shut so bugs don't get it. But it was very bothersome for us. We spent 2 weeks in the Southwest and this hotel was the only one where we had a bug issue. Thank goodness the gift shop was so fabulous.

"Clean and convenient "

Basic but quiet and comfortable with decent restaurant on site. We needed a place to stop over between St George and Taos and this was perfect for that. We stayed in the newer building away from the pool.
