"We wouldn't go back"
We were very excited about staying at Lake Powell Resort. We booked here on my sister's recommendation and knew it would be convenient for the 2 boat tours we were taking. We arrived at 345pm.. check in was 4pm. There was a long line for check in and every single person was told that there room was not ready. When I got to the desk, again our room was not ready. Before she told me that, she did say that we had been upgraded to a Marina View which I was happy to hear. Still the room was not ready and would not be available until after our 5pm boat trip. That meant we wouldn't get to freshen up after a full day before going on the boat ride. Ok.. things happen. We went on the boat ride and finally checked in at about 730. Our room was very nice with a nice view. The next morning we left our room before 7am for our Rainbow Bridge tour. Unfortunately the computers were down for checking in but they handled it well. The boat tour was nice and it was a pretty long day on the water. We got back to our room at almost 3pm. Our room had not cleaned! We saw the housekeeping lady down the hall so we thought she was headed our way. At 5 30 pm we headed out the door for dinner. She was across the hall so our room would be next. We came back at 9pm and our room had not been cleaned!!! Now we were exhausted and I was too mad to even speak to anyone at that point. The next morning at check out I told the receptionist about our situation. No apology, they just said they would let the housekeeping manager know. Now this is a pretty expensive hotel and I went way over budget on our stay because it sounded wonderful and it was convenient for our tours. What resort doesn't clean the rooms everyday unless you tell them not to do it? I wrote a review on their site and asked for someone to contact me.. I have never heard a thing from them. I hope others will think about booking elsewhere.
I chose this place as our one night stay while visiting Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope Canyon in Page. Slim pickings in this area. Warning: you have to pay a national park fee of $20 to enter the area this resort is in. That was a fun surprise. And there aren't any elevators. Check in was easy, front desk staff was awesome!! Hi Mariah!! We were there the first week of July. We booked a lake view room with two Queen beds. AMAZING view from our room. It took my breath away. Our building was the last one at the end on the left. We were on the second floor. We drove over and dragged our suitcases up. The building is dated and has a musty smell. Housekeeping was friendly. Room was clean although very basic. And that's ok, I wasn't expecting more. The lobby looks renovated and features a few restaurants and huge souvenir store.
"You Pay for the Location. Aramark Management Services is the Worst."
As others have noted on TA, this "motel by the lake" is definitely not a resort, so take that into consideration when you book. If this was a resort, I would expect to be able to contact the front desk at any time, day or night, but this is Aramark Management Services (AMS), so there is only one 800-number that operates from 7am-7pm PCT, so do not plan on getting anything accomplished via the travel assistants employed by the LPR (Lake Powell Resort, aka AMS) or getting any help if you need it above and beyond being able to make a reservation. In addition, reservation assistants do not provide accurate information. In our case, we were told that there were "plenty of power boats available - 89, in fact" at time of booking so I should "not worry at all about being able to get a boat upon arrival". I was reassured that it would be "no problem" renting a power boat onsite, which turned out to not be the case at all. This is a resort that employs nice, helpful, and friendly staff (I actually think the employees are the only ones who have read the TA reviews because they definitely make an effort); however, LPR is a property that is utterly mismanaged and I blame AMS. For instance, check-in. There were simply not enough staff to check families in when they arrived; however, there were 2 employees solely dedicated to booking Lake Powell Boat Tours, which are led from the LPR lobby. So, while I waited in line at check-in for almost 20 minutes, there were only 3 staff members checking in hotel guests, while there were 2 dedicated staff for the boat tours, along with about 25 people waiting in the lobby to get on the boat tours looking unhappy and impatient - unacceptable. Back to the power boat rental This was the ONLY thing we wanted to do when we were in Lake Powell, which I made VERY clear to the reservation specialist when I booked. That being said, now I understand the "racket". LPR wants you to book "boat tours" through them, not your own power boat rental. When we arrived and checked in, we immediately went to the LPR Marina to make a reservation for the next day. We were told bluntly that there would be "no reservations and reservations should have been made 72 hours prior to coming to the resort and there would be no exceptions. reservations would be on a first come, first serve basis the next day" (which was 6am, in person at the Marina, a mile away from the LPR). Luckily, my husband got up first thing and was first in line at 6:15am to obtain a power boat for the day. That being said, it added unnecessary stress to our vacation - unacceptable. The only thing this place has going for it is its location - that is absolutely it and that's what you pay $300/night for. The property was built like army barracks with no thought or care for architectual design or integrity. It is not well kept, there are no elevators, and the public hallway carpets were dirty upon check-in. Furthermore, the bathrooms are outdated and dingy. The balcony overlooking the lake is nice when it's already hot out and you're sitting next to the AC unit exhaust from your room -- again, poor design and no effort to make things right - unacceptable. When onsite and you need assistance or help, you cannot get anyone. I spent a full 7 minutes trying to call anyone for additional towels and the phone rang endlessly with no response - unacceptable. Finally, I have tried to call the LPR several times during the remainder of my vacation, including an email receipt of a final bill. To date, no response - unacceptable. Bottom line...if you want to stay in the park overlooking and close to Lake Powell, then book this property. Remember to rent your power boat when you rent your room. Don't expect high-end resort treatment, simply expect a Motel 6 experience on Lake Powell at $300+ and you will be all set.
"Location Location Location"
So the Lake Powell Resort was alright. The room was nice and the view spectacular. The hallways and common areas need some updating. Being right on the lake was amazing. Rented a powerboat for the day from the marina and had a wonderful day on the water. If you are looking to stay right on the water this is the place. Anywhere else in Page is just up in town.
"Old, basic, ok for the view & the early start on the lake"
Went there in the middle of a trip around Utah & Arizona parks. Spent a day on the lake to refresh from the August temperatures! The resort is pretty equivalent to a road motel, kind of old and outdated. Clearly not a lot of refurbishment since the entry into service. Our room was yet ok, nothing really to complain apart from the noisy A/C which had no automatic mode. It was therefore either the noise or the august heat! The resort is hosting huge tourist groups, so you'd better arrive before or after them otherwise checking can be painful. Good for a stopover on the lake, clearly not for a longer stay
