a very beautiful place and relaxing - food was very very good - we ate breakfast and dinner - several times and our room was very relaxing and clean- the staff was very kind and very helpful - next time I will book the nail spa early so I can get in . The whole place was beautiful and not pretentious in the least
"Giant tub, xbox, drinks, all at the same time."
The bathroom opens up into the room with shutters so you can soak while enjoying tv, or company in the rest of the room. Brought my own xbox, plugged it in and had a few all nighters. Good long hot bath salt soak there and some gaming, cured my back problems for the next couple weeks.
"Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, delicious food and wonderful spa"
My husband and I stayed here for a special birthday get away in December. We were able to pay with some Hyatt points and some cash, making it really affordable. Otherwise, I think it would have been quite expensive. We were very lucky to receive an extreme upgrade to a spa suite, that had a gorgeous view of Camelback, a gas fireplace, a deep and luxurious claw foot soaking tub and a steam shower. The room was romantic and perfect. We also received a complimentary plate of chocolate covered strawberries with a birthday message written in chocolate on the plate - so sweet and such a nice touch. We had one dinner and a few breakfasts at T. Cook's that were delicious! Complimentary Illy coffee is offered each morning in the Mix Up Bar, so take advantage! We both had fantastic massages at the spa - you get them for less money on Groupon or Travelzoo, but the spa will honor the rate on site as well. Special shout out to all the people who made our trip amazing: Michael at the front desk, Michael S. in bell services from Rochester, Kong and the gentleman originally from South Africa.
I would consider the Royal Palms a cozy but elegant resort for a special occasion. A group of girlfriends of over 30 years got together for a weekend of food and drink and the Royal Palms was the perfect location. The staff is so pleasant and attentive.
"Great value if you get a deal"
Managed to get a good discount rate via Hot.es when other vendors were selling this for much more. Kinda expected to get bumped to a rubbish room on check in but it was fine. The grounds are truly lovely as many other reviewers have remarked. We ate at the restaurant one night and it was very nice. The service was good and the food pretty high quality, though perhaps without great flair or originality. The hotel is a fair distance (10-15 mins) from downtown Scottsdale, so this was regrettable if you wanted to eat out and enjoy a few drinks because it meant getting Ubers everywhere. Not really the hotel's issue but you wouldn't experience the issue with the W, for example, which is much closer to town. Missing a few special things which set great hotels apart from the ordinary, in my opinion. For example, the free (water, soft drinks) mini bar at the Rancho Valencia in San Diego was a great touch and should perhaps be the 'norm' in a classy hotel these days, a bit like free wifi! Overall good standard. Enjoyed our stay.
