"Salt Lake Plaza "

I love this hotel. It is a little outdated but in a fantastic location. It is next to the Temple, 2 minute walk to the Genealogy research center. The staff is fantastic. You can take the train from the airport to the hotel. The train stop literally is in front of the hotel. Parking is excellent and sometimes has a fee. Book early. This is always my first choice for a hotel in Salt Lake City.

"Perfect Location and Great place to stay in Salt Lake City"

Our family of 7 recently stayed for one night and were pleasantly surprised.Firstly I had prebooked this hotel solely because of it providing a free shuttle to the airport as some other hotels in the city seemed to have better ratings butvwerecalso much dearer..The lobby was large and inviting and the staff was helpful and welcoming.Rooms were spacious and comfortable and having a restaurant on the premises was a huge plus as we did not wish to venture out for a meal after a long drive with small children. However, the best was being able to use the free shuttle to the airport. One of the shuttles was out of use so the hotel provided a taxi for us at no charge. The previous evening at a very late hour, our soninlaw needed to return to Hertz Car Rentals as something was left in the rental car.Not only did the hotel shuttle serice drive him there but also waited for him for the return journey. The service also brought him and my husband back from the airport earlier that day after they returned the rental cars.I am so pleased I chose Salt Lake City Plaza Hotel and will recommend it to visitors of this beautiful City.Thankyou for a great stay.

"Closest location to Temple Square"

I have gone to the Plaza for many years. It is still a well run hotel in the heart of Salt Lake City. It is next door to Temple Square, a block from the Conference Center, and 2 blocks from City Creek Mall. The rooms are nice; beds comfortable; lots of mirrors in the room; nice views; and everything is very clean. You can mail postcards from the desk. Parking is only $8.00, and you can walk to everything. During LDS conference, parking is at a premium. It was wonderful to stay at the hotel and not have to worry about anything.

"Perfect Location, Great People, Dated Hotel"

I stayed here for four nights. My conference was at the Salt Palace, at the end directly across the street from this hotel, so I could not have been any closer. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel is a little older than some and needs a little updating. Good mini-fridge and dated microwave in room was a plus. The AC fan never shuts off, even on Auto - just adjusts when the condenser kicks in. The bed never lost my 'indention' from the first night and was not the most comfortable mattress. The shower head was awful, took over a minute for water to begin heating up, and then during the shower, the pressure and temperature kept adjusting on its own, all while 'squealing' in the pipes. Free wi-fi, but slow at times where I just switched to my JetPack. On the plus, the room was spacious, and even being right next to the elevator, very quiet. Restaurant on site had very good 'diner' food. It wasn't fancy, but close, tasty and inexpensive. UTATrax has a stop directly in front of the hotel, so this place is easy to get to and travel around town from. Hotel provided complimentary shuttle to and from the airport. Even with the drawbacks, I would stay here again.

"Unfortunately ruined in the last minute"

I came over for 5 days and the hotel was good. No complaints. Everything neutral and pleasant. However, on the night I was leaving, I informed the front desk that I had an airplane at xx hour and asked them to arrange a cab and wake me up too, because I had cold and was likely to be preoccupied with nighttime discomfort hence miss the time. I dozed off and was half an hour late to wake up. It was half an hour later than the cab arrival time. Called the front desk surprised, and the response simply shocked me. "We called you and you didn't pick up the phone". So they just forgot about it. I acted in a constructive way and asked them to call another one. When confronting the nighttime bald tall manager about the incident, it felt like I was the one getting paid for service, because he talked with whims and manner of a customer while I tried to understand the situation in a more neutral way of expressing myself. What I got was an unfriendly tone and semi-fatherly advice that I should have been more responsible myself and they would never come up to wake me up, never caring if there might have been a technical issue with the phone.
