"One night get-a-way for R and R"
Fast, friendly, thorough check in...liked our room with a view...clean and quiet. The best location ...walking distance to everything...restaurants, entertainment, sports complex, shopping mall......liked everything. would definitly like to stay again. Parking was convenient.
"Great location, wonderful staff, lacks some amenities."
The hotel is a short, 15 minute trip from the airport on the TRAX green line ($2.50 one way, stops directly in front of the hotel). The location is wondnerful, right next to Temple Square, the convention center, and shopping district. JB's restaurant, which is a good family restaurant with standard American fare, and a breakfast bar and salad bar, is accessible from the lobby. The staff, from the front desk folks to the housekeeping ladies, were pleasant, helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, but could use some updating (lightly scratched furniture, somewhat worn carpet, etc.). I wasn't a fan of the soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers located in the bathtub. I suppose it saves money and waste though. One big drawback is that there isn't a newspaper to be found, not in the lobby, at the front desk, in the gift shop, nor in the machine out front. I travel frequently for work and I've never encountered a hotel without either free newspapers in the lobby or newspapers readily available for sale. The machines out front had no newspapers any of the 5 days I was there. I'll not stay here again because of the lack of newspapers, but that may not bother some people, if it isn't important to you, then by all means book a room. Most mid priced hotels do offer free breakfast now, this hotel does not, but the JB's restaurant has a decent breakfast bar for about $8.
"Great spot to see the city from."
Very nice spot in the center of the city, close to everything. Beautiful views of the city at nighttime , worth a look out the window for sure. Room was clean and very nice and staff was nice and helpful when needed . Easy to get to highway when morning came too.
"Wonderful, caring people"
Went to SLC in September. Stayed at the Plaza for a week. This was our first trip to the City. The hotel was very clean. Our room was on the 13th floor and over looked Temple Square with the mountains in the background. What a sight! The people were fantastic, caring, and helpful. The restaurant on the ground floor was fantastic as well. And the genealogy library was just across the alley. The room had a safe, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Everything was as close to perfect as it could be. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Salt Lake City.
"Excellent location, reasonable rates - THE hotel for ancestral research"
This hotel is in an excellent location: it is across the street from Temple Square, Kitty-corner from the downtown shopping center, and across another street from the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Symphony. Directly behind the hotel is the Family History Library - mecca for ancestral research (the hotel actually has a back door the provides even easier access to the library). It is adjacent to the light rail system (which is free in the downtown and goes straight to the airport), and you can walk to all the downtown restaurants and sights. The room was only a little dated, but well appointed with a mini-fridge and a microwave. After staying for a week the only downside is the restaurant: it is terrible! Unless you love rusty iceberg lettuce and fried and overcooked food, stay away. There are lots of great restaurants nearby, and Harmon's market is within an easy walk so you can stock the mini-fridge with meal items. There is a free shuttle to the airport, but you can also take the light rail. And yes, you can walk to the State liquor store and wine store. If you want something more glitzy, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a clean place with reasonable rates in a great location, this IS the place for you.
