Over Fairmont San Francisco

De grandeur van het Fairmont is door de recente renovaties alleen nog maar toegenomen. Eersteklas service en besef voor historie gaan hier hand in hand. Fraai gelegen nabij Union Square en op Nob Hill biedt het de uitgelezen mogelijkheid om de stad te verkennen. Hier is ook de enige plek in de stad waar de twee cable car-lijnen elkaar 'ontmoeten'. Het hotel beschikt over twee restaurants, The Tonga biedt u exotisch Aziatische gerechten, The Laurel Court onderscheidt zich met de lokale keuken, uiteraard op basis van lokale ingrediënten! "Fairmont is Fabulous gem on top of Nob Hill"

Although we live in SF and have a beautiful place, I've spent many evenings at this grand hotel with my husband just to feel like a "tourist" and get pampered. This gem of a hotel sits on top of eclectic Nob Hill where there is plenty of public transport including the charming signature cable car that transports you up and down the hill to more expansive transport hubs lower down in the city. Cabs and Uber cars are easily obtained. Our family visits each year for Christmas to view their home made ginger bread house with real cookies and candies. It is magnificent showcased and I believe almost two floors in height. I also hold many charitable events at its Grand Ballroom, which is elegant and classy. Don't forget to check out their terrace area which has a beautiful garden that you can spend time in. Reserve on of their Signature Tower Rooms where the views will make you gasp with all around panoramic Bay views from the Golden Gate Bridge to the TransAmerica. The Fairmont serves a scrumptious breakfast buffet as well as a beautiful high tea service in the Palm Court. Their superbly trained and courteous staff makes you feel special.

"Overpriced"

Overpriced room service and non-existent valet service on departure. We had dinner in our room one night, 2 adults and 2 teens. The bill came to $170 for a cobb salad, 2 hamburgers, a bowl of pasta, one order of hot wings and 4 ice-teas. It's the ridiculous charges they add onto the bill that brought it up so much. And when we left, valet couldn't even be bothered helping us to put our luggage in the car, but he had his hand out for a tip, which didn't happen.

My stay is always pleasurable at this Hotel. I only stayed a night for a business party. Maria, Devynn & Staff are very attentive and welcoming. My accommodation is just fine. I was given one of their standard room it’s a bit over price specially that garage fee was outrageous,but I supposed your paying for the name. The checkout was very efficient through text services. My invoice was sent through emailed for review prior to my departure. I was assisted from picking up my luggage and car ahead of time. I didn’t have to wait to checked out at the front desk and off I go. I loved the convenience.

"Wedding Accommodation- Not the best"

I was so excited to stay here for my wedding just a few days before Christmas. We had a small room block for us and our wedding guests. Usually when you stay at the Fairmont, no matter where you are in the world- it's usually an incredible experience. This is a stunning and beautiful hotel to stay at especially during Christmas time however, our stay was extremely subpar for a myriad of reasons. My hubby and I didn't get any type of room upgrade nor welcome amenity. I understand it's a busy time of year but after having worked for the industry for years- these are things that the company prioritizes to be a cut above the rest. There was no recognition whatsoever from the hotel despite the check in person (who was super nice actually) saying our reservation was covered in notes. Even a congrats here or there is something hotels are usually great at for special occasions. We had dinner at the Tonga room on the first night and the music was so loud it actually hurt our ears and made for an extremely unpleasant dinner. Perhaps it was our fault for not choosing something quieter. Nobody said hey "congrats" even though my mom told the waiter, hostess, and made notes on the reservation. We had breakfast at the Laurel Court the next morning. We were seated, and ignored for 20+ minutes. The waiter and I kept making eye contact but he was obviously very busy. We contemplated walking out because we literally could not get service. We tried to get drinks late in the evening also at the Laurel Court and could barely get any service once again. I was so baffled and it is awkward with new family when the flow of your meals/ drinks is so off with the service and it makes it hard to enjoy. We called down for our car and the Royal Service operator said super casually "Ok, just to let you know it'll be probably a half hour. We're swamped." That is just an unacceptable amount of time and well above standard for a luxury hotel and to say it like it's not big deal. Hmm. I then had to tell my in laws the hotel was backed up, the car won't be around for a half hour and they would be cutting it close to get to their international flight. Also not great. Upon check out we learned my in laws were charged twice as much as we were quoted for the room. We had locked in a great rate with reservations and my in laws had to call back with their credit card for their rate to be switched to the lowered rate which they did the next day. Upon check out their bill was twice as much because the hotel did not switch the rate back when they called in. Just really embarrassing because they weren't expecting to pay so much more and it was not able to be resolved. My mom tried to speak to the manger on duty (twice) to fix this and she was incredibly rude and basically said there's no notes, you have no proof, reservations is closed and it's not my problem. I know what that is like having worked in the front office for many years but this is a time even when you are swamped that you are kind, empathetic, and say you'll do your best to assist even if it's not an instant resolution. My mom was nearly in tears after talking with the MOD :( I literally again, was shocked and upset. We were able to speak to reservations and get the rate adjusted an she apologized. We are all extremely easy going people and all of this was just really strange. If these were all isolated incidents they wouldn't have been such a big deal. From start to finish it was one unfortunate thing after the next. Although we had an incredible wedding we paid for and hoped for top notch accommodation. I really would expect for a hotel of this caliber to have friendlier and better service. I had worked for Fairmont for several years, and was really excited to share the wonderful experience with my parents, hubby and his family from out of country. This was so far from luxury brand service, and overall really disappointing after having such high hopes for the big day. Again this is a beautiful property, our stay was just unfortunately disappointing. Maybe stay at a less busy time and you'll have better luck.

We were holidaying from Australia in San Francisco and had the pleasure of staying at the beautifully restored Fairmont Hotel. We stayed in a King Room with city view for four nights. The Hotel is very grand, offering an extensive in room dining service and excellent service in the Hotel restaurant. The location of the Hotel is excellent with 3 cable car lines just outside the Hotel.
