"An excellent choice in downtown SF!"
Booked this hotel through the reservation system i work with (b2b supplier), and the check-in process was very fast even with a late check-in (arrived at about 9.30pm). The room itself is a room which i would describe of a "normal" hotel size for a city hotel. We booked a twin room (separate beds) and the bed type was honored on the reservation without the need to reconfirm. Regarding the area it is in, please do your homework before travelling anywhere, and check about the city you are about to travel to. Indeed, SF is full of homeless people, especially in the downtown area, but i had no problems with the area around the hotel whatsoever, even though i went down to smoke at about 4-5 am (jet lag kicked in). If you are used to large cities, you will have no problems with SF, this area or the hotel whatsoever. If by comparison you are used to country retreats and seaside resorts, perhaps rethink your destination ;)
"Environmental friendly to what cost?"
I liked the idea of an environmental friendly hotel, but it was not very pleasurable as rooms were very cold. With look warm heater and one thin blanket is not exactly the best solution for peolle who aren't used to cold. I actually asked for extra blankets which we dud not receive . This hotel was part of a Top deck tour and this hotel was by far the worst. Location was not one of the best choices.
"The BAD hotel"
I was part of a TOPDECK group tour and stayed here for 2 nights. No one felt safe here as the location is run down and full of homeless people. We had a room near the main road and I hardly got a good nights sleep. Find somewhere else!
I have previously written a review but after reading many horrible reviews I decided to clear a few things up so people get a better understanding of the hotel. I visit his hotel at least once a month and stay between 2-3 days. It is not perfect but I do consider it to be my home in sf. There are homeless people around but seriously where are they supposed to go and the reason it exists is because of people who would rather have it out of site and out of mind. I have never had an issue outside the building and if you say hello they actually say hello back because they are human beings ( just my opinion. I've also read about staff not being friendly but I have had some of the best conversations with some of the staff and politeness goes both ways. The hotel is eco friendly which I think is cool and if your looking for a 5 star hotel then you prob should've stayed at the Hilton. I love the hotel there's food and a bar right next door and also has a gym and pool at neighboring hotel. I would suggest getting the room with full or queen mattress
"Poor hotel in an awful location, don't stay in this area"
The Good Hotel was awful. We asked to change rooms three times and in fairness were allowed to do this at no extra extra cost but we really regret not moving elsewhere. The rooms were smelly and the carpets filthy. The local area was full of homeless people and druggies openly injecting and dealing 24/7. We were to discover that this area is the capital of the US's homeless people. We are not fussy people but without question this is the worst place I have ever stayed at - and I am pretty well travelled. San Francisco was otherwise fantastic and we would love to return there but this area of the city was a nightmare and ruined our holiday there. Thank goodness we only had to endure three nights. Travel agents should never allow clients to stay in these places and should do their research better before taking money off people for staying in such places.
