"Pretty good stay"
We stayed at this hotel for three nights. Our room was nice and had unusual decor and was well equipped. The staff were helpful and friendly. The street the hotel on was ok although the area of market street at the junction wasnt the best street in San Fransisco. During the week it wasnt too bad but at the weekend after 6pm, there were a lot of homeless people gathering together, many on drugs or alcohol and it made me feel a little intimidated. No problem though as we just arranged taxis to and from the hotel for the evening. The hotel is in a handy location otherwise, very close to Union square and there is plenty of transport from market street to other areas of San Fransisco. On the whole a good stay and experience and even though we were among the homeless people, there is nothing wrong with this in the right frame of mind, it is a mind opener.
I couldn't fault my room in the hotel, however the staff were really unhelpful and seemed unable to communicate and share information with eachother. I had two nights booked, one with a group tour and the second night on my own. I asked at reception if I would need to change rooms the next day and was told I wouldn't have to, the next day I was told I had to change rooms. When I went into the new room, somebody else's luggage was in there so I went down to reception again to tell them, they then told me that actually I don't need to switch rooms. Not only had I been messed around but they had also given me access to another persons room with their luggage there, so the opportunity for me to steal something was there if I wanted it. I didn't get an apology for the mix up and the staff just didn't seem bothered. I then asked if I could book a taxi for the following day at 6pm to take me to the airport, they said yes and took my name. The next morning I mentioned it again as it was a different member of staff and I wanted to make sure that my taxi would still be taken care of. I was reassured that yes, it was booked for 6pm. I return to the hotel at 5.55 pm and check at the front desk, only to be told they have no recollection of anyone wanting a taxi for 6pm, and I was asked who it was who I spoke to (as if I'm supposed to know the staff members name). I said that it was whoever was working last night and this morning, they then had to order me another taxi that was more expensive and meant I was late arriving at the airport. Not once did I receive an apology which I find extremely rude, and I definitely expected better customer service from a hotel that is as expensive as this one.
"Good hotel bad arrea!!! "
Last june I stayed for 3 nights at the good hotel. The hotel itself is nice and the rooms are clean. However, the arrea arround the hotel is awfull!! There are junkies and homeless people everwere. We felt verry unsafe and thuis ruinned our trip to trip tot San Francisco.
At most 1 star Rooms dirty , toilet dirty air con does not work and not been serviced in years Shocking area did not feel safe Spoilt our holiday Certainly does not live up to its name and would not recommend anyone staying here
Stayed at The Good Hotel for few days. The rooms are ok, we had plenty of space for a double room. The bathroom has a 'recycle system'. You basically wash your hands on the toilet trough a sink, and that water goes to fill up the toilet tank for futher flushes. However the place needs some maintanance as you could easily see marks from the previous guest. Location wise is ok. As known San Francisco hosts lots of homeless, but this does not mean that the area is not safe. You can easily walk to Union Square and the start point of the Cable Car, as well as tge main tram stops are 2 minutes away.
