"Done the Job"
In November 2016 we had booked up to do a California holiday starting off in San Francisco and this was the hotel we took. We picked this one before it was south of Market and also because it was cheep. When I go on holiday I spend very little time in my hotel room so as long as it is clean and I can sleep a few hours I am happy. On arriving in San Francisco I had s hire car finding the hotel from the airport was relatively easy using the Sat Nav you come off the freeway and the hotel is just 2 minutes up the road. Now the hotel has some parking spaces to the left of it which is the best option for parking. If this is full you have 2 options. The Best Western across the road and if that is full the little hotel next door. Just hope you don't have to go with the 3rd option as the parking is in the basement and we had a minivan so it was super super tight to get down, get parked and get out of. If it had been full I don't know how I would have gotten my car back out! Parking in San Francisco is an expensive affair the hotel charges $35 (give or take $1) per night for parking. You may be thinking this is expensive but it's actually one of the cheapest prices in town! You have to go to reception to get a ticket to hang in your car and you oay the balance before you leave. HOWEVER make sure if you want to pay in cash you tell them before checking out otherwise they just put it on your credit card without asking. The hotel itself is located south from Market Street only a 2 block walk but the area isn't really the nicest of areas. I called it Come Down Downtown due to the amount of homeless people in the streets laying around, people sat drinking and many under the influence of drugs. Randomly talking to themselves looking very confused and disheveled. I must say though at no time did anyone bother me at any time of day or approach me or did I ever feel scared or fearful. It's more sad than anything. You can walk to Union square in around 15 minutes and there is also a main train line near the hotel just on Market Street. There is a convenience store on the corner at Market Street a pharmacy shop which I used loads. ***TIP*** when you use this store and you see an offer like say 2 drinks for $4 this is only if you have a little discount card. When you go to self check out and you scan your items you will see a little red card fob ok top of the tills. This is for you to scan with your shopping so you can get the discounts. The rooms in the hotel are quite basic but clean enough the bedding was always very clean as was the bathroom. The carpets are quite worn and old looking. The hotel likes to recycle things which is very cool and has some art deco that is recycled bottled etc made in to lights and the beds are made from recycled wood as well. When you flush the toilet they top of the cistern has a tap for you to wash your hands with the water that will fill it up. The beds were comfortable as well and the windows have wooden shutters. However the rooms are also very noisy and you can hear people in other rooms, walking around, talking and also when they go to the toilet etc. you can hear pipes a lot when someone flushes the toilet as well. If you can perhaps ask for a room near the top. The staff at reception were always happy and very chatty and willing to help you out if you needed to find somewhere or ask about somewhere. There is free wifi as well which is pretty decent. In all it's a good budget hotel if like me you just want to have a shower and rest your head before spending days exploring the city. Don't be afraid of people who are living on the streets not once did anyone approach us they just go about their day.
"NYE holiday weekend"
Awesome value. Great rooms (I stayed inside access). Parking available. Nice lobby. Great location. Friendly staff. The "do not disturb" sign is apparently invisible, though! LOL. And, it was annoying when the front desk mistakenly thought that I was to checkout New Years's Day and woke me up st 10 am to ask when I would be leaving the room... which was 4 days later :(
A very cozy setup of the hotel in the heart of Downtown SF brings out the aura of the Urban center of the city! The concept of visitor's photo booth and the wall dedicated to their memories is quite appreciable! Small, yet cozy rooms with windows looking right out to the street! It connects you to the every buzzing city life! It was a short stay but worth it. Amenities like wifi and prompt room service is note worthy! Indeed, The Good Hotel!
"A good hotel, but no more!"
The rooms are very small, but clean, the bathroom is functional. We had a room to the yard, which is very small, so there was not much light. There is a loud ventilation (neighboring restaurant) in that yard, luckily it is shut off around 10 pm, otherwise sleep would have been impossible. No breakfast! I always wonder why hotel rooms for two people are equipped with one chair only... The location is somewhat rough, with homeless people hanging around.
