Over Bacara Resort & Spa
Het Bacara Resort & Spa ligt op een prachtige locatie aan het strand. Het resort is omringt door het groen van de mooie tuinen, waar u door heen kunt wandelen terwl u van het mooie weer geniet. Opfrissen en ontspannen kunt u in en bij een van de twee zwembaden of in de spa met whirlpools, fitnessruimte, sauna en diverse lichaamsbehandelingen. De kamers zijn ruim, volledig ingericht en hebben een balkon of terras. Voor het avondeten kunt u uiteraard dineren in het resort bij een van de 6 aanwezige restaurants.
In Santa Barbara, vlakbij Highway 101 en enkele minuten verwijderd van de Santa Barbara Mission, diverse golfbanen en het centrum van Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara ligt aan de westkust van Amerika ongeveer 160 kilometer ten noordwesten van Los Angeles aan de kust van de Grote Oceaan. De stad is nabij een Spaanse missiepost uit 1786 gebouwd. Tegenwoordig is Santa Barbara populair als toeristische bestemming en als woonplaats voor beroemdheden.

I'm not sure why there are so many terrible reviews of this place. First, we did not find the walls paper thin like so many people are complaining about. I honestly don't even know if we had anyone next to us, it was that quiet, and we were there for 5 nights. The room was absolutely beautiful, one of the most beautifully decorated rooms I've ever stayed in. In fact, the whole place was meticulously clean. We ate at both The Bistro and Angel Oak several times and both were excellent. Angel Oak was completely booked the first night we wanted to go, but they were able to squeeze us in and we were very thankful. Some spots in the resort could use some work... the coffee shop does not serve gelato like its sign says and seems like an afterthought. The spa also does not have its restaurant open, so limited options for dining. Any way, we had a wonderful time at the Bacara and would love to return, if just for a day at the spa. (Get the Bacara Body Melt.)
The walls are thicker at a Motel 6. Mistakenly overcharged us on two occasions. Credit to my wife for checking receipts. Waiter "...our stakes are served 'Modern Style', a la carte...." BS to me. Cheesy cash grab by the Ritz. Poor service at diner - ex. I TWICE walked up to the bar to get our empty water glasses filled. Will never stay at a Ritz again. Your money goes much further elsewhere.

This past summer my husband and I went to Bacara for a lunch by the pool. It was excruciatingly awful! We were truly shocked and very disappointed to say the least. Now I find out it was recently purchased by the Ritz Carlton Group. I will truly hope they vastly improve the food of this potentially beautiful hotel. We will be checking back next summer and I will give you a report.

As a Marriott Platinum member I go out of my way to stay at hotels within the chain. This experience was extremely disappointing to say the least. The check in took 45 minutes and at the end I ended up being told there were no connecting rooms for my husband and me and my kids and so I was given two rooms right next door to each other. I arrived at the rooms only to see they were separated by a huge elevator. When I called I was told someone would get right back to me. An hour later when no one had called me, I called again. Finally I was told there was a sudden cancellation and they had found me connecting rooms in a nicer villa. Since the 72 hour cancellation policy was in effect, I knew that the explanation provided to me wasn't accurate. The manager was sympathetic and apologetic. Checking out they forgot to get the bags from one of our rooms and forgot to deliver my daughter's lunch. This is truly not the experience you expect from a Ritz Carlton hotel.
"ok, not great"
I just got home from a New Year's weekend stay here. Good: Physically, the resort is nice. Spectacular location, common areas are well-kept. Nearly every external perspective is photogenic - I can see how this would be a great place for a wedding or gathering. When the service is good, it's great. Everyone who drove us in the carts were delightful, as were the room service staff. The room service breakfasts were also quite nice. And we did get a complementary upgrade (more on that below.) Not good: * Problems with the front desk were not handled gracefully. Examples: - I had a couple of simple room requests (tub, non-connecting room.) It required 60 minutes for them to move us to another room, and it only happened because I escalated. Jose did upgrade us, which I appreciated. But the staff at the front desk don't seem to be able to make that decision on their own, and have no sense of urgency. - Some hungry folks decided that they wanted a $172 lunch after we had checked out, and then put our room number on it. That's not the hotel's fault, but when I called, the answer was "we'll look at the receipt tomorrow." It's like the front desk assumes we're guilty until proven innocent. * Pricing discrimination. I understand the reasoning: if our customers can afford a $600 / night room, they can afford a $35 resort fee (+ tax!), and a $36 valet fee. Since they're clearly willing to pay that, they will be comfortable 3X Starbucks pricing at our cafe, and so forth. While most resorts put up a thin veneer to explain the resort fee: "it's for surfboards, it's for in-room coffee, it's for water!" There's no attempt to even try that here; they charge because they know their clients will pay for it, and they won't even earn RCR or MR points from it. I want to like this place, but between the nickel-and-diming (mandatory fees, valet parking) and the throwing-down needed to correct their mistakes, I'm not inclined to recommend it.
