We booked a deluxe king with a king sofa bed for my wife and I and our 33 year old son who is well built and 6' 5" tall. On arrival were told that unfortunately this was not available due to a number of bedrooms been out of service. We accepted this as these things happen. We were asked if we would accept an ordinary twin room and we said we would. However when we arrived at the room we found out the second bed was a teenagers bunk bed. This was disappointing as my son had been stood at reception as we checked in and it must have been clear to the very nice male staff member who checked us in that the room was not suitable for his needs. We thought about returning to reception to complain but as the hotel is a number of units spread out over quite a large area and we were quite a long way from reception we decided to make do. On departure I asked the receptionist to make sure I had been charged for a twin room not a deluxe king she assured me I had. I also asked for a discount given we had been put in a room with a teenagers bunk bed, this I was given. However when I checked my paperwork I had been charged for my original deluxe king room. So I had to revisit reception to have this put right. On the plus side the hotel is situated in a lovely location directly across from the beach and the cold buffet breakfast was very good.
"Part of the road trip"
Checked into Hotel Milo, all was good and we had a great time staying there the location is first class and you couldn't ask for more, we chilled around the pool for a few days as this was our down time on our Three week road trip. The hotel does not have a bar, but they can sell you wine by the bottle from their mini mart in reception, basically they can sell wine from the fridge in reception for very exspenive prices, i.e box standard pinot say $10.00 they wanted $50. Also when I checked out there was a service charge of $15.00 per day, when I asked what this was for this was how the conversation went. Me - Whats the service charge for please. Hotel Milo- Its for the wine tasting. Me - I didn't do the wine tasting. Hotel Milo - Oh, well its for the hire of the bikes. Me - I didn't use the bikes. Hotel Milo - Oh well its for the swimming pool!!. Me - Surely the swimming pool is part of the hotel??. Hotel Milo - Oh er well yes the service charge is for the general things to do with the hotel. Me - This sounds like rubbish can you tell me why I'm being charged it. Hotel Milo - No. Me - Please take it off my bill. Hotel Milo - OK. Two days later my card is charged again for the service charge and items I never had, it took me several phone calls and email to get the monies returned to my card, this part of it left a sour taste in my mouth and I would even go to say the staff came across as smiling but behind the smile very insnsere.
"Way over priced!"
If we weren't past the reservation cancellation period, and unable to get a refund, we would have gone elsewhere. First indication of what was to come was the 16:00 guaranteed check in time that was actually 17:15. So we got to sit in the lobby until the room was ready. Then when presenting a credit card at check in, they inform us there is a $35.00 fee for our Chihuahua. You have to realize that is us having the dog was not a surprise to them; it was the first thing I asked when calling to check on availability, and the reason we agreed to the robbery pricing at all. And it went downhill from there. If you're paying over $400 per night for a room (not including the pet fee), one should be able to expect modern conveniences, such as air conditioners. Nope. And only one, small ceiling fan. So if you plan on staying here, plan on doing what we did; going by Walmart and buying a cheap desk fan to move the air around. There was a small tray of snacks in the room, including single serving alcohol bottles and beer in the mini fridge. Since there wasn't a price list in the room, my first thought that maybe they were part of the exorbitant price. But just for good measure, we checked with the front desk. Oh, no, of course not! Not cool, guys! Let people take them, then charge them dearly ($7-$9 for a bottle of beer) after they leave? And that's not to mention having only one ice machine for the entire facility, and that was at least a 1/8 mile hike to the pool area, which closes at 22:00. And then there was what seemed to be the track meet overhead. Seriously? For that kind of coin, one should be able to expect a little bit of sound insulation. But things will look up at the included "continental breakfast", right? Nope. Bagels, yogurt, and bananas. Yum! LOL. This hotel is definitely added to our "never again " list, unless the price drops below $75.00 a night.
"1 month at the milo"
I stayed at the milo for a month. Such accommodating service from everyone. Alex at the front desk did everything possible to make sure my stay was perfect. Perfect location and service, highly recommend.
"Alex at the front desk was phenomenal!"
Had booked this hotel for two days (IWe stayed at Bacara Resort the previous 5 days). Checked into hotel and booked the top Ocean front room. Everything was great but after a few hours we received a phone call that my lady's mother was in the hospital back home in critical condition. I went to the front desk and told Alex that I had to leave and return home immediately. Alex checked return flights for me,Uber and Taxi lists and talked with the hotel manager (Who was also outstanding). They refunded the entire bill even though that was not the normal cancellation penalty. Everyone in this hotel was so polite and helpful but Alex was the best! Went above and beyond.
