"Think of it as a 3 star European hotel at luxury prices"
Location is great but the rooms and property are definitely outdated. We had a one bedroom with loft which was 3 floors and could easily sleep 9, but at 1K a night average, we had higher expectations. Underground parking is not guaranteed so we had to double park and move our stuff inside up 3 floors, then park the car in the main lot during the big storm. Went back and shoveled the car out 2 days later. Our place was huge and comfortable, but definitely not a 1k per night experience. Nothing luxurious about this place, mainly location and space.
"Jim the Manager Truly Delivers in Customer Service!!"
I have never written a review before but am inspired to do so now. We stay at Mammoth Mountain Inn every President's Day Weekend for an annual multi-family ski trip. We always enjoy the convenience of the Inn and the service is exceptional every year. Even the food at the Mountainside Bar & Grill was amazing. This year in particular, Jim was extremely hospitable and went out of his way to accommodate us with impending storms and our stay. He went above and beyond what is expected in customer service protocol. We will always come back to the Inn. They have won us over. Thank you Jim!!
Great Location, the 2 bedroom with loft is perfect for 2 families with kids. The problems. Room 600 is VERY loud! They even give you earplugs 😳 parking is NOT guaranteed even if you pay $1000 a night so if it snows be prepared to shovel out your car. Make sure you pre rent your ski gear especially during a busy weekend. The rooms are clean but dated. Staff was nice. Food was good and the view is the best around. No delivery available or room service. So if you want a nightlife or food after 7 stay at the village :)
"Amazing Location - Average Accommodation"
MMI location is absolutely unbeatable. The proximity to Mammoth Mountain can't be beat, with three chair lifts literally right outside of the door. Starting with the positives, location is absolutely one... food is another with the burger at the MMI bar being one of the best I've ever had and the breakfast menu just as excellent. So why three stars and average accommodation? Well, my husband and I both found the staff to be very nice, but not very fast. The time it takes to get from the hotel to the chairlift is a bit too long... would not be a big deal if you bring your own equipment, but we had to rent and the rental process took two hours on the first day. Another factor that keeps MMI from a four or five star rating is the element of the skeleton crew. We stayed there the week before President's Day Weekend and it seemed like everything we needed was somewhere else within the property due to lack of equipment or lack of staffing. There were no kids booked in the daycare inside of MMI so we had to drive our son in to The Village for childcare. The rental shop inside of MMI didn't have the right skis for my husband, so he had to go to the rental shop inside of main lodge... then the main lodge didn't have the right skis, so he had to go to another lodge. All of this stuff was not enough to ruin our trip, but my advice to those staying at one of the MM properties is to know this in advance - definitely have your equipment sorted before day 1 to maximize time on the mountain. Also. The rooms are not uncomfortable but nothing special... we stayed in a king loft room, our son slept in the loft. It's a very basic, very comfortable room. You can request a microwave in the room and all the rooms have a mini-fridge. The coffee is not great anywhere on the property, so if you like a good strong cup, I recommend brining a french press.
"Perfect location for access to the slopes"
This is a classic mountain chalet, big stone fireplace in the lobby, a good but expensive restaurant and nice bar. The rooms are fine, nothing special, but clean with comfortable beds. Pet friendly for travelers who bring along their fur babies. Rooms have coffee makers and refrigerators. The indoor pool is on the second floor of the west wing, so that hallway frequently has a strong smell of chlorine. Ask for a room in the original building or on the third floor. Rooms can be a bit noisy depending on location but just ask the front desk for a pair of complementary earplugs. The Inn is a wonderful place to stay if you spend the day on the slopes or out adventuring but might not be good if you just want to hang inside. Easy access to the slopes, with a ski valet and equipment rentals available in the lobby. Limited underground parking if you are lucky enough to find a spot. Free shuttle into town so there is no need to drive anywhere. The staff is always helpful, friendly and one of the reasons we keep returning to the Inn. Ask about special stay & ski packages...you'll be glad you did!
