Over Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite

"Almost 5 stars"
We stayed at Tenaya Lodge for 2 nights. The grounds are beautiful and the location is great! A couple miles will take you right to the entrance of the park. The lodge itself is beautifully decorated. However, for nearly $500 a night it would be nice if the hotel offered more complimentary amenities. Free coffee, muffins/croissants and fruit would be a nice way to start your day. Instead, you must purchase this from the store on sight for marked up fees. Two coffees, two bottles of juice, a muffin and a parfait cost us $30 one morning. The lodge is so far from everything that you are forced to buy food there. Every restaurant option, including the poolside bar, will cost a family of four between $80-125 for every meal. The Summerdale BBQ is a nice option for dinner and is well worth the fee. The hotel rooms are the size of normal hotel rooms, and don't have anything that would suggest they should be marked up as high as they are (besides the location of course!) There are cool activities on sight that should be included in the resort fee like night hikes, bike rides, archery, and a climbing tower. You pay extra for each activity (around $15) and you still pay a $20 a day resort fee. If the location weren't so beautiful, and the staff weren't so nice, I would give this place a 3 star due to value. I just can't bring myself to do it because honestly, it is above average.
"Good but could be Great"
We had a short stay of 3 nights so that we could maximise our time in Yosemite. The room was fine and was very clean - good job housekeeping. The location is great. We went to the Summerdale BBQ one night and had a fun time with good food. Where we felt a little let down was by the level of service in both the restaurant (Jackalopes) and the bar staff in the pool. With one exception, the staff weren't that engaging and didn't make us feel like valued customers - which given the food/drinks were not great value for money, the service needed to make up for this. Also, the pool is small and every day it was a push to get a couple of sun loungers or space in the pool to swing a cat! We would go back - the location is fab and the accommodation good, but Tenaya management need to look at their standards of service in the food outlets given we found it pricey for what we ate.
Lovely hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly, room was very clean and the grounds were well kept. They offer a barbecue that was done up with decorations and live music. They also have a lovely breakfast buffet. It's only two miles from Yosemite. The hotel is somewhat isolated so if you want to eat in town it's a twenty minute drive on a somewhat winding road.
Tenaya Lodge was delightful. There are 3 restaurants in the main building, as well as a small grab & go counter for quick sandwiches, snacks & drinks before heading out to Yosemite. There's also a pizza place on the property & they'll give you a ride to it if you ask. It's important to know before you go, though, the restaurants are expensive. We chose the cheapest items we could & drank water and our bills were always over $120 for 4 people for dinner in the restaurants. But, the food was really good. The gift shop on site has a great selection of Yosemite souvenirs, but cheaper prices will be found in the park gift shops. There are indoor and outdoor pools, as well as hot tubs, including adults only hot tub & pool outside. There's a bar at the outdoor pool & food can be ordered from the pool deck. There's an arcade for the kids, and bikes available to ride on the property. The Lodge was beautiful both inside and out. We had a double queen room in the main Lodge area. It was cozy and comfortable. But, the beds were hard. Really hard. That's the only thing we didn't love about Tenaya Lodge.
"One night stay"
We were only here for one night but found it to be a lovely hotel. Lovely spacious rooms. Nice food. Stunning location. Just a pity we weren't there longer. Did not use the pool facilities so can't comment on them.
