"Cold but nice"
We enjoyed our stay at Yosemite View Lodge. Due to the snowy conditions they had a lot of cancellations and asked us if we would like to do an upgrade which we agreed to. The upgraded room was on the Riverside and had a nice patio and a fireplace under the TV. We use the patio only a little because it was cold but the view was very nice. The electric fireplace was a little on the dim side. Because it had a stocked kitchenette we decided to cook our meals inside and were pleasantly surprised by the food selection and food costs at the Yosemite Visitor Center. I would rate the beds and 7.5 out of 10 for comfort. Not bad but what we expected when lodging near a National park. Gift shop at the lodge is nice with a lot of variety. A little worn but clean. We didn't eat at the restaurant so I'm not able to rate that. Pool was warm and enjoyable. Hot tub was very hot and my husband enjoyed it although the jets didn't work. I was worried about the distance to the park but the picture included is from the Yosemite Park sign looking back at the hotel. It's about 2 miles to the actual gate so easy travel back and forth especially the time of year we were there.
"Good location , usual collection of 3rd rate American appliances.."
We stayed for 3 nights in April in a room overlooking the river. The room was large with a kitchenette sparsely equipped but functional. Decor was dated , but room ok. We stocked up with some fresh produce in Mariposa on our way which turned out to be a good idea. There is a small fridge in the kitchen which worked ok. The hob has 2 underpowered rings which work but are very slow. The bathroom was ok with a large bath that had 2 showerheads in them(?) Good location but not inspiring as a destination in itself. Btw can anyone tell me why USA has the worst taps (faucets I guess to the locals) in the world? The tap in the kitchen was like something that had been designed and built by a 5 year old child with a bit of bent metal sticking out that you had to yank up and down. Everything says cheap about these taps as well as the shower controls. Has nobody in the USA seen Grohe and Hansgrohe taps/showers to see what they are missing? This is not particular to this hotel, it’s a general USA problem.
"Great location, Kitchen is a plus. Worth it."
We did a lot of search before booking this one and we are pleased to stay for 3 nights there. Our room was clean and tidy, bed was ok. Bathroom was basic, we were provided soap and shampoo only but they have a store downstairs if you need more toiletries. There was a kitchen in our room which is a plus. We stocked up our fridge with food and drinks so that we could cook for dinner and lunch the next day.(Lunch choice at the park is limited and usually packed during lunch hours, also hard to find parking) You could also get microwave food and frozen meat at their store too. Location is great, we left around 9am and it took us about 20 mins to the park entrance. Photo was the view out of my window. We have a little balcony to enjoy our drinks after a long day too. Not bad at all!
"Happy to stay again"
A decent hotel with friendly staff in a great location. We had booked a standard room which was on the ground floor facing the road. At check in we were offered a reduced $25 upgrade to a bigger river-view room with a balcony (apparently normally would've cost $75, although we heard the same conversation at reception the next day and someone else was told they could have it for $30 instead of 60 - I don't know, maybe they were different rooms). Anyway, we asked to see both and while the upgrade room was definitely bigger with a fireplace, huge hot tub style bath and is right over the river, which was absolutely roaring when we were there just after the floods the day before, we opted for the standard room as it was plenty big enough and we didn't really spend much time there. It had 2 double beds, tv, fridge, kitchenette with 2 hobs and a sink, some pots and washing up liquid, as well as a spacious bathroom complete with old style shower fittings. Overall it was all good and would stay again - the location is ideal roughly 10 mins from the park entrance and the rooms are big. Only minor inconveniences, our room was very dark with poor lighting and I feel it's pretty cheeky nowadays to charge $10 per 24 hours to use WiFi for only 2 devices, especially in an area with no phone network coverage at all. Would happily stay again nonetheless.
"About average place to stay "
My husband and I stayed here 3 nights due to rain closing the park. It was a clean, nice place to stay. Close to the park entrance with the river running right behind the property. The door did not seal properly so we heard a lot of outdoor noises. Also, opt to eat at the river restaurant versus the pizza place, the pizza was below average.
