"Great choice to stay while visiting Zion."
Beautiful lodge and beautiful grounds. We had a really nice room with a beautiful view. The connecting restaurant was nice and convenient. We ate breakfast there several mornings before starting out to the park for all day hiking. Dinner there a couple of nights. Service and food was really good. Able to catch shuttle right across the road. We enjoyed not being right in the center of town. It was more quiet and more secluded. I didn't travel all the way to utah to stay right in the middle of alot of shops and restaurants and noise and traffic, so the majestic view was a perfect choice for us. It was only a couple of shuttle stops to go to any of those places if we had chose to do so. Staff was also very friendly and very helpful.
"Pricey for an Average Stay"
We stayed at the Majestic Lodge as we were visiting Zion National Park. This lodge was not worth the $250+ that we paid. It was a little bit of a distance from the park and our rooms were in the section across the busy street from the main lodge. PROS: Beautiful curb appeal Must see free museum next to check in area Excellent steakhouse, home baked desserts Unique rooms- all wood Beautiful metal bed frame and headboard Decent wifi in rooms. Very clean Views of woods and mountains- French doors open onto balcony Very nice staff Fridge CONS: Not close to activity in downtown area Super expensive for what you get Skimpy on towels No elevator so ask for room on a main level if you can't do stairs Thin ceilings- noisy guests above us woke us up No safe in room Bed is a little soft if you like firm or extra firm Tiny soap in bathroom and you only get one Stay closer to town if you want more activity (shops, bars, and restaurants around you). The views will be just as good.
We booked based on reading previous reviews and I have to say that we will likely try a different location for our return trip. The location is great. Right on the Springdale bus line so you can cross the street or walk out from your room and get right on the bus to the Zion visitors center. We were in the 400 bldg which i think maybe an older bldg? We paid more than $200/night for the room and it was an ok room, but not worthy of $200. The views would have been spectacular but the windows were so dirty you could barely see out! We had a small patio area with two chairs that overlooked the mountains but there was no screen door so if you wanted to have fresh air, you'd also have the bugs/flys/bees. The windows in our room did not open. There was a layer of dust on everything and the coffee pot and small refrigerator really needed a good cleaning. We ended up wearing our shoes in the room all the time because the carpets hadn't been cleaned yet. (I hope they get to them now that the busy season is over). The bed was comfortable. The sink area in the bathroom is small and cramped but the shower had nice water pressure and was adequate. This is a no frills spot with spectacular views. There is a restaurant on site and we had good meals there the times we ate there. They have a baker on-site, so the baked goods are especially nice. The staff was very helpful and the grounds were well maintained, just don't expect much of the rooms.
"Remote, Inconvenient, Tacky, Possibly Insecure, and Definitely Indifferent"
We stayed at the Majestic View Lodge for a night on the tail end of spending nearly a week at the Zion Lodge. Our thinking was that we would get back into town for our last night in the area to give us a chance to visit some restaurants, a few galleries, and to just get a sense for the lovely small town of Springdale. This hotel was a major disappointment in many ways! THE GOOD: 1. The view is indeed very good; however, it’s actually not any better than the view from the chain hotels and cool little B&Bs in the center of Springdale. 2. The hotel has a very cool exhibit of stuffed bears, sheep, birds (and a massive rattlesnake) off the lobby. THE BAD: 1. The hotel is situated on the main road, on which a lot of traffic moves to get to and return from Zion so it can be noisy and have an urban. Paying a premium for the view is totally not necessary since better (and likely less expensive) lodging and views can be found in town. 2. The hotel is not even remotely convenient to the restaurants and shops in town. You will need to drive or take a shuttle bus. 3. The on-site restaurant is deserted and not particularly good. It will suffice if you MUST eat at the hotel, but you will need to go to town (see #2 above) for decent selection and quality. 4. The pool is small and looks over the busy highway. THE UGLY: 1. The secondary door lock on our room entrance door was fastened using a small block of wood to anchor it to the door itself; unfortunately, the block was cracked all the way through which greatly compromised the integrity of the lock itself. See attached photo. 2. The bathroom door would not fully open; it bumped into the toilet bowl. See attached photo. 3. The carpet in the room is the super-cheap and super-cheesy indoor/outdoor stuff one might put on their poorly decorated patio. It does not belong in a room costing so much. Bad and tacky! See attached photo. 4. When I checked in I was treated as though I was imposing on the staff person. She grudgingly interrupted her group chat with two of her coworkers to process me, but kept 80% of her focus on her little group as it continued to talk and laugh. 5. When I departed the check-in area with my bags, I struggled a bit with the entrance door on my way out, nearly dropping a bag and definitely knocking them about as I squeezed through the small opening I strained to create while trying to balance the bags. Standing just five feet away, the three staff people halted their yakking long enough to passively observe my struggle. Not one word of “Can I help?†or “Just a second and I’ll help you†came from their mouths, nor did any of them even attempt to move toward me to help. My humble advice is to not bite on their “sizzle†by believing their “majestic†view is any more majestic than a property in town. Opting for a room in town will give you walking access to restaurants, shops, and galleries, something the Majestic View Lodge simply does not offer!
Really nice place with a picture perfect setting. The uniqueness of the decor and large rooms made this a favorite place to visit. Convenient pick up for Zion National Park shuttle that travels through town to the connecting shuttle for the park.
