Over Zion Lodge

"Location Location Location!"

Reserved our cabin nearly one year in advance and it was nearly fully booked. Was slightly nervous about staying as I had read mixed reviews. I need not have worried. $30 entry fee to anyone entering the park which covered our time there. We stayed here for 2 nights whilst exploring the Park. You cannot beat this location. We adored our western cabin. It was very charming and cosy and had everything we needed. Yes, it was a little dated but when you are surrounded by such beauty on the doorstep, it really wasn’t an issue and certainly not something that I would let dampen the experience. Our cabin was about a 3 minute walk away from the reception area, gift shop and restaurants. It was very well situated for the shuttle bus and trails. Take a torch or flashlight as it is quite dark onsite. I used the flashlight on my mobile. It was just perfect seeing all the deer grazing on the grass outside reception in the evenings and early in the morning. Red Rock grill was not amazing but was more than adequate and we both had empty plates after working up an appetite hiking the trails. The cabin itself was clean, large and spacious with a rustic design inc a private balcony to absorb the beautiful nature outside. The cabin was well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities. There was free wifi which worked well within the cabin, a little slow but enough to get you by. We found that our experience in Zion was made extra special by staying within the Park. Like others have said, there may be a few shortcomings but all minor. The fact of the matter is, you are in the heart of the National Park and you are paying for the location and beauty that is all around you. Priceless! Whilst I am sure Springdale and surrounding areas cater well for guests and is still closeby, you cannot beat waking up in the morning to the backdrop of the mountains. It really is a pinch yourself moment and one we will remember for a lifetime.

"Excellent Spot to Stay"

Awesome location within the park. Lots of trails around. The rooms were OK but the cabin was amazing. Not too cold for a cabin with just a fireplace in the winter time. The staff was polite and professional. The restaurant was a little overpriced but was good. And the gift shop had lots of cool things.

"Need Updated! "

For as much money as they are making - you would think they could upgrade the linens and towels. Perhaps even new mattress. They have the very old halogen parking lot lights, but brag about being Enviromental friendly. They consume so much electricity and the parking lots are SO DARK! You wouldn't even see if an animal was there. The food was very good and the staff was nice. In closing - as I got into bed, there was a spider sharing it with me. I'm just not an outdoors girl....

"Dark, small rooms, terrible food, no activities after dark"

   11-01-2017
Unless you are here in the summer and can't drive in, there's really no reason to stay here. Bikes for rent are only in the summer. Any ranger or stargazing activities are only in the summer. There's nothing to do at the Lodge itself except for shop at the gift shop, which was the only stand-out - it's one of the most comprehensive gift shops I've ever seen in a national park. The restaurant food and service is mediocre. The lunch cafe has only pizza and fries and ice burg lettuce salad. We ended up eating lunch and dinner in town everyday as a result. So we could have just stayed at a nicer place in town.

"Lunch at the Lodge"

The little restaurant in the lodge is called the Red Rock. We stopped by for lunch, expecting to have a long wait we were seated right away. Staff was very friendly and the food was good. The view was fantastic. John & LynNita Ellis
