"Terrible Owners!! Stay elsewhere!"

My husband and I booked this property for a 2-day stay through the hotel’s website. They advertised a package at a certain price which we booked. We received the booking confirmation detailing our 2 nights and the total cost to be paid for our stay as per the price on their website. A few days later we received an email from Peter, who I assume is the owner saying that the package is now double the price and we need to understand this to confirm the booking. We went back to him saying that was not the advertised price on their website or the booking confirmation we received. His response: “I’m not arguing with you over this” and he became extremely rude and defensive quoting random figures that weren’t adding up, offering a ‘gesture of goodwill’ because we booked over Easter. We didn’t book over Easter, we booked four weeks after Easter so fail to understand what he was offering except demanding for us to still pay the sudden huge price increase. He clearly doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about, his behaviour was disgusting and businesses like these are an embarrassment for the New Zealand tourism industry. We have previously stayed at many great Queenstown properties with lovely owners, this is not one of them. Do yourself a favour, take your money elsewhere and you won’t regret it.

"Convenient Location with a Room at a Reasonable Price in a Small Hotel"

Queenstown was our last stop in New Zealand this March, 2017. Loved the city! The hotel is located just two blocks above the city center, so everything is walkable from Browns. The facility is adequate, clean and quiet. The bathroom and the room itself were rather small. The entire place could use updating in our view. The included breakfast was good. We though it was odd that there was no offer of baggage help upon arrival, though there was upon departure. It was fully booked, so it would not be a mistake to stay there. But, thtere are larger, more modern hotels in the city center that might offer more for seasoned travelers.

"Loved our stay"

This 10-room hotel (more like a B&B) has warm hosts, spacious rooms, nice toiletries and excellent breakfasts that made our week's stay so much better than if we'd opted for a chain hotel. Peter (our host and the GM) even drove us to the airport to pick up our rental car. There's also a handy drying shed out front for all of your skis and gear. The location is also mere minutes' walk from the centre of town, really good restaurants, the buses to the Remarkables/Coronet Peak and the Skyline gondola. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

"Lovely Gem!"

What a lovely gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here. The hotel is centrally located and is in walking distance to everything. Peter, our host was very accommodating and even drove us to the airport when we left. We had a delicious breakfast every morning and great conversations Peter, who also gave us great dining recommendations. Our room was very comfortable, clean and roomy and we had an amazing view of the city. This hotel is charming and a true boutique hotel…I wish we had stayed longer!

"Great hotel with lots of character"

We had a wonderful stay here for our honeymoon and loved this quirky hotel. Set up high, it was in the perfect location - overlooking the Remarkables and harbour, a short walk to the town and even shorter walk to the cable cars. Our room was truly lovely, a little old fashioned but I think it added to its charm. It felt a bit like a Parisian hotel room (but bigger!) with a beautiful balcony looking out onto a breathtaking view of all that Queenstown had to offer. The chocolate fish and what tasted like home made biscuits/cookies in the room were a nice touch after a long drive! Queenstown parking can be tricky but there is some parking at the hotel which is a relief - especially as you are so close to everything that once you get your spot, you don't have to move your car until you are ready to go! Mike and Jane were excellent hosts and great cooks - breakfast was great and cooked to order. The breakfast room is communal and you share tables with other guests which is nice if that's your sort of thing and you enjoy chatting to other travellers. There were a lot of steps here so if you have trouble with stairs, it is worth calling ahead and discussing it to make sure it's manageable for you. This was a really wonderful place for us to end our New Zealand honeymoon and I'm really glad we chose to stay here.
