"Hotel with a wow factor"
Everything about this hotel shouts quality. We have never stayed in a greener environment and the location could hardly be better, with access to Chinatown, the CBD and an array of restaurants on the nearby wharf just a few minutes walk away. Our room overlooked the park and was very comfortable, with all the accompaniments you would expect from a hotel like this. Breakfast was stunning with the most delicious range of pastries we found in a month of travelling around. The rest of the breakfast options were pretty fantastic as well. Thanks for a lovely two nights stay on our stopover back to England.
"A wonderfully set-out hotel"
Parkroyal Pickering is a beautifully set out hotel, with a great emphasis on sustainability. We particularly enjoyed that aspect of our stay, and appreciate the efforts which the hotel have put in in this aspect. The buffet breakfast was also very much commendable and value-for-money, accommodating a huge range of tastes with the great variety on offer. This booking was made through the GHA website under an offer of a free room upgrade (subject to availability), however this was not picked up by reception staff. The upgrade was eventually processed, after having asked about it.
"Fantastic environmentally friendly luxurious hotel"
Wow - this is simply an exceptional hotel!!!. From the moment you arrive you are greeted and treated to exceptional service. The hotel itself is like stepping in to an architectural design competition as there are so many magnificent designs scattered throughout the hotel. The overall feel of the hotel is one of peace and harmony which is something I have never really felt in a hotel in a major city. One of the most appealing features is the environmentally sensitivity of the hotel - from the lush green surroundings, the ponds, recycling and so much more. This is truly how all hotels should be. The room incorporate a fabulous timber theme with large glass windows overlooking the lush gardens. The interiors are modern, stylish and extremely functional. For those that are a little modest there are electronic blinds for your privacy. I love how the rooms can be open lan or you can slide a screen to divide the room and separate the bathroom. We kept our open the whole time which was great. The pool area is amazing - see pics. It also has cabanas to relax in. I used the spa and my treatment was DIVINE. There is also a well equipped gym and a walking track through the gardens. The buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner is unbelievable. There are so many styles of cuisine it is incredible. The hotel is in an excellent location as it is a couple of blocks from Chinatown and very close to the MRT. I could go on and on. The most important advice is STAY HERE!!
"Adventures in Architecture"
We stayed for 2 nights in an Orchid Club Junior Suite after a cruise. The hotel is well located on the edge of Chinatown. Public transport is very good in Singapore and taxis are quite inexpensive, so getting around was not a problem. The only downside with the location is that it is directly opposite Hong Lim Park which is the Singaporean version of Speakers Corner but with massive amplification. All day Saturday we were treated to very loud oratory (in English) on the price of water. It made enjoying the serenity of infinity pool and other outdoor features on the 5th floor impossible. I think there were more people around the pool than actually in the park! Not the hotel's fault but worth knowing about. Free speech seems alive and well in Singapore. Our room had a high ceiling with full height windows looking out across the skyline and down to the pool and park. Luxuriant, tropical greenery is everywhere, designed into the hotel and acting as a buffer to the concrete urban environment. We both felt the room had been designed by a man because the storage spaces did not encourage unpacking. Not enough room to hang up dresses, only jackets. Also the shower shared the same space as the bath which meant that you have to walk across the shower floor to get to the bath. A bit awkward. There was a lot of technology in the room controlling blinds, lights, privacy, etc which worked well. Being in an Orchid Club room entitled us to use the club on the 16th floor, with even better 360 degree views of the city. The layout was, I think, a Singaporean style because there was a large communal table and some lounge areas with low coffee tables as well as many outward facing seats, similar to Starbucks. Hospitality was good (breakfast, tea, pre-dinner). Our only criticism was that the club staff seemed to always be in a hurry to clear everything away before the end of the allotted time. We felt a bit rushed. Otherwise, Reception, Concierge, the Lime restaurant were all good. So, our overall rating is that it was average for a 5-star hotel. However, we think the main attraction of the hotel is the architecture. It can be described as terraced or sedimentary and it really does work. It is not harsh or anonymous and somehow conveys the majesty of a forest or river right in the middle of one of the great cities of the world.
this hotel is just so lovely service and staff are wonderful and very helpful rooms perfect so close to everything we done a lot of walking having the hotel close to everything highly recommend it get a room that you get breakfast afternoon tea and cocktails in evening and the garden room are so nice loved it
