De wereldberoemde Niagara Falls komen in bijna elke reis naar het oosten van Canada voor. Het woeste watergeweld dat u van heel dichtbij kunt zien vanaf de 'Maid of the Mist' is dan ook spectaculair. De watervallen worden gevormd door de Niagara rivier, die tussen Lake Erie naar het lager gelegen Lake Ontario stroomt. Ze bestaan uit de American en de Horseshoe Falls, de laatste zijn het grootst en liggen aan de Canadese kant.
"November Girl's weekend"
Check in was smooth even though there was a power outage in the area and all computers were down. Dropped our bags off with front desk and went for a walk then came back and checked in. Getting to the room was a little bit of a maze. Room: great selection of toiletries, towels and robes asked for slippers and were given a pair for each of us beds were comfortable Spa: the best massage I have had. My friend and I both had an 80 minute massage and thought the service was amazing. the steam room was old, but it did the job the outdoor hot spring was a treat indoor pool was relaxing and designed to feel like a tropical oasis lots of towels and lounge chairs food: Canary was great. Had a delicious dinner. Much better than the backhouse restaurant we ate at the night before the canary. Coffee in the morning in the lounge was perfect The lunch we had in the bar was very good too, little over priced. not so good: We checked out before using the package/deal for the Canary restaurant. ($65 set menu if you were staying at the hotel) we checked out 3 hours before we decided to eat at the Canary. The hotel staff, including the manager said there was no way they could give us the deal for the Canary (set meal for $65) because we had checked out and for account purposes there was no room to charge the restaurant bill to since we checked out. They said there was no way to document the special package dinner since we were not in the hotel system. Spoke to the manager and explained we were 3 hours shy of getting the deal. She said there was nothing she could do. They had record of our stay and that we qualified for the package deal 3 hours prior to our inquiry. Not impressed. Really? 3 hours made it impossible to give us the deal? Why? For accounts purposes? I am sure there was a way to give a voucher for the same special or a call to the restaurant to have us receive the package with a note on the system explaining the situation? Just because there was no room to charge the package deal to is not a reason to make what would have been the perfect weekend turn into something that made us leave the hotel with a bad last impression. Would I recommend this hotel again? Maybe? I 100% would recommend the Spa. But the front desk/management service was lacking.
"Don't waste your time"
With so many amazing wineries & spas in the area we decided to try this one for the first time. The rooms were very nice, but that's pretty much it. The service in the bar was terrible. There was no cold beer as all the refrigerators were broken. The beer they did have on tap was disgusting and very warm. I thought they would've had a better wine selection considering the region we were in, but unfortunately that was not the case. The kicker was when we went to dinner at the restaurant. Four of us ordered four different bottles of wine. If I was a waiter I would've been ecstatic to see four people ordering four bottles of wine. Our server Anthony pretty much called us a bunch of alcoholics! He wasn't joking and he was dead serious! I was absolutely disgusted in this behaviour. I could not believe he questioned us three times to make sure we wanted four bottles of wine. He asked several times if we were going to drink all of it. I'm not quite sure what concern that is of the waiter. If I was him I would be thinking dollar signs not worried about my alcohol consumption considering my room was only a few metres away from the restaurant! I didn't appreciate being judged! The food was nothing to write home about. It was an all round a terrible experience. The best part is when I called the next day to try to speak to somebody nobody returned my call. I even sent them a message on their Facebook page and no one bothered to call back! There are so many wonderful wineries & Spas in the Niagara region, stay far away from this one!
Stayed here for a conference in June of 2016. I'm usually a Fairmont girl and this hotels service and standards were similar to which I'm use to. Food was great and surroundings were beautiful. This hotel had lots of history and it was nice to be able to rent bikes close by to do a bicycling wine tour.
"The best of many fine lodgings in NOTL"
We have found the Pillar and Post to be deserving of the rave reviews posted by so many others. There are many fine accommodations in Niagara on the Lake and we have stayed at most of them over the years but Pillar & Post offers, in our opinion, the most complete range of amenities. We most recently visited just after New Years while the holiday decorations were still in place. This is a great time to visit NOTL as the suffocating crowds are gone and this allows a much more peaceful and relaxed experience. Not to be missed is the outdoor "Hot Spring" which is open all year. In winter, this is a fabulous treat. For American visitors the currency exchange rate is currently very much in our favor and offers even more inducement for a visit. This is a first class operation in every way and cannot be too highly recommended.

By far the best place to stay in the Niagara region. We've been coming to the Pillar and Post for 25 years and it never disappoints. Great rooms, spa and food. Service is outstanding and special thanks to Peter and Sarah this time. It always feels like home when we come back,
