Over Pillar and Post Inn

Our favorite

"Expected more"

Our room didn't look like any of the pictures posted on the Trip Advisor website. It was nice, but nothing spectacular. It was a very clean room so kudos to the housekeeping staff. The bathroom was small; the bathtub actually creaked when you stepped in it. Didn't have a great choice of pillows. My husband ended up using a towel for his pillow and in the middle of the night the bed pad became a big lump under us. We thought it was rather odd than in our hall of rooms ours was the only one that didn't have a peephole in our door. Didn't eat at any of the restaurants on-site so I can't comment on that. The flowers on the grounds are beautiful. The pool looked nice but we didn't have time to enjoy it.

"Anniversary Getaway"

Romantic weekend at the Pillar and Post. Had a nice room with a king size bed. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Went on a wine trolley tour where we sampled some great wine. Also enjoyed some relaxing time by the outdoor pool.

"Wedding weekend"

My son and daughter-in-law got married there this weekend. They could not have chosen better. The venue and the food were exceptional. I think I can honestly say one of the best meals I have had at a wedding. But if there was one thing that really impressed us, it was the team that we encountered. Every single one was courteous, friendly and beyond helpful and accommodating. We spent two nights there but were so busy with wedding events all hosted there, that we did not have the opportunity use the spa or pool facilities. We definitely need to return.

"Shaw Fest"

Beautiful place and a truly wonderful staff who bend over backwards to please you. Plus don't forget to use the hotel shuttle to get around NOTL, the gentleman who drive it made every drive a great experience. The wine tour offered was a good time also.

"Disappointed ..."

My husband and myself recently booked a 1 night stay at the Pillar and Post. We are locals and love to periodically visit Niagara on the Lake, but usually we would just do a day trip. So we thought an overnight stay would be a treat. We picked the Pillar and Post as we liked the amenities and that it is not directly on the main drag. I had requested a king bed but had been told only if available. We checked into our room and of course the king bed was " not available " and we had 2 double beds...okay fair enough but the room in general was very disappointing for the price point. The door sill was loose on the entrance to the room which required that you slam the door for it to get over the sill. Two of our lamps did not work as well as the vanity mirror light would not work. The room was musty and the air conditioning had to run constantly to keep the temperature comfortable. So enough about our disappointment with the room, we went for breakfast in the Cannery restaurant the next morning and also found this experience disappointing. We chose to have the breakfast buffet due to a varied options of foods. I was planning on having a bagel but when I went to the bagel area there were fruit flies all over them ( probably due to the raisins in some of them ?) My husband told the hostess about this thinking she would pass the information on to the responsible person. Unfortunately she appeared disinterested in passing this on and did not tell anyone. My husband told another woman who was very helpful and took care of the problem. The hot buffet bacon server had only 2 pieces of under cooked fatty bacon the whole time we were dining ( 1 hour ) and was never refilled. The Cannery is a very lovely restaurant and I found this visit to be sub par for their reputation. Upon check out we passed our opinions about our room and general stay on to the front desk who promised to pass it on. I was sent a generic survey following our stay to fill out online which I did but did not get any feedback from the hotel. The Pillar and Post needs to address these issues and update their rooms. We will not be staying at this hotel in the future but sincerely hope they take a look at these problems.
