"Wouldn't come back here again"

This was my first time at any Holiday Inn so I wasn't sure what to expect. To start off, it's location is in a perfect spot. However, finding parking was not straight forward whatsoever. We ended up parking across the street because it was labelled "hotel parking," not knowing it was actually parking for the Marriott Hotel. This parking garage was so steep it felt like we were in a roller coaster where you can't really see what's ahead of you. Anyways, you need a key to access the staircase to exit the garage and obviously since we weren't staying in this hotel, we had to walk down three steep hills to finally get out of the garage. Finally checking into the hotel was simple enough. All the staff were extremely friendly and informative which is always appreciated. The lobby was very modern looking and overall beautiful. As for the room, it was super tiny; the bed basically took up the majority of the space. Moreover, also included in the room was a mini fridge and the other typical things you'd find -- coffee machine, ice pail, toiletries, etc. The room was overall modern looking and visually appealing, just a bit too small for my taste. Something I didn't care for in my room was the super bright lights outside in the hallway. When people get out for a night to sleep in a hotel, obviously a comfortable rest is a huge part of it; the lights were really distracting from falling asleep. Perhaps they should be dimmed after a certain time? The bed and pillows were to perfection though. I also received a copy of my bill on my door which I didn't care for at all. I had prepaid this room as a gift for my boyfriend so I didn't like that the price and my full name was listed on a paper receipt for everyone passing by to see. I didn't particularly want my boyfriend to know that I spent an arm and a leg to stay here either, so that is something that should be revised. Moreover, I had lost my debit card and called housekeeping after I checked out to see if it was still in the room I stayed in. She took down my name and number to call back but I never received a call back informing me if she had found it or not. Checkout was also a simple process. Even though the line was a bit long, it went by really fast and just like checking in, the representative that attended to us was very friendly. For breakfast options, Cora's is conveniently located across the street in front of this hotel. The line up was at least a 30 minute wait (which is typically for Cora's) so we checked out another spot, Upper Deck by Fran's, which was a cute little spot with an awesome patio and wonderful service -- a must try! Overall, with a few adjustments I think this hotel could be better. For the price I paid, however, I don't foresee this being my first choice for an overnight stay in the future.

"Good Location but Small Rooms"

This hotel has a few things going for it. The location is very central and there are tons of restaurants and services very close by. They have a parking garage so you don't have to use valet parking and the rates are reasonable. It does have a fem negatives too though they are not show-stoppers. The rooms are quite small (at least with 2 double beds) so you may feel a bit cramped - especially if you want to use the desk. We also found our room quite hot so had to keep the window open all the time to moderate that. The Air Conditioner only blew heated air. The gym is OK, but only has 3 treadmills (one broken) and one kind of aging elliptical. The pool is in good shape. The washrooms have been nicely updated, but they are also quite small though they have made good use of the space. We will definitely consider staying here again as the location was very conveniently located between Ryerson and U of T.

"Nice enough hotel but internet is non-existent! Couldn't even do this write up on Tripadvisor"

I had to wait to write this report after returning from this trip due to simply not being able to utilise the hotel/s internet. Perhaps its the location of my corner room, but it's unacceptable in it's current form. I asked about it twice to no avail.... Location is good, people are friendly but how can a modern hotel have such spotty wifi in the rooms?

"It's ok"

The Holiday Inn downtown is just ok. It's nothing special. The rooms are a little dated and the hotel itself could use a bit of a makeover. If you're looking for a convenient location downtown to stay for a night or two, this place will do just fine.

"Great location"

Rooms are often small in city hotels so we were fine with it - modernizing an old building with today's amenities can't be easy. Our room was clean and quiet with a long desk under the window which worked out for us. Breakfast was good and dinner was good but expensive which was to be expected. Service was friendly and efficient. Location was very good so we would definitely recommend.
