"Holiday Inn - average"
Nice staff, great concierge, great location with good size room although i had two double beds in this room instead of requested King Size bed. Other thing was my hotel room was right opposite three housekeeping rooms and with staff going in and out of those rooms at all hours it was annoying when wanting a sleep in.
"Excellent location and very friendly staff!"
I definitely liked this hotel when I stayed there as a guest this summer while working at the CNE for 3 weeks. It is in an excellent location located right by College Subway station and the street cars. You don't need a car to stay here like me for example. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they apologized and were very professional when the wifi wasn't totally working in the room due to "cold spots" that the speed dramatically drops when moving towards the streets window. It was fixed with a router to boost the speed in the room. Housekeeping staff is very friendly when you see them in the hallways Guest Service Agents is very friendly and will help you whatever the problem is I didn't order room service but the choices and range of choices on the menu is excellent for someone who isn't local. It has a really nice pool area for guest to use It does have a laundry room to allow guest to do their laundry when staying for 3 weeks like me. It even has a small microwave room down the hallway if you need to heat something up in the microwave which is a bonus I definitely recommend this hotel in the future if you are a IHG member like me
I stayed for three nights and found the room to be comfortable, clean, and in good condition. Yes, as many have stated, the rooms are a little small and not much view. After reading many reviews I had some trepidation. However, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom looked recently renovated with an adjustable shower head. The location is very central to everything, including subway, which was important since I was not familiar with the city and my first time there. I did have some problems with the Wi Fi on the first day but it worked fine after that. The breakfast was good, and we paid a nominal amount for it. Variety was decent, with scrambled eggs every day. Some of the items were not great such as the bacon and potatoes (not crispy enough). I would recommend getting it if the price is reasonable. I thought the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The concierge, a curly haired man, was also very nice and gave us a lot of suggestions/help. Many airline pilots/flight attendants were staying here and I think the hotel must have to meet a certain standard to get that much business from them. Also parking is reasonable, compared to other hotels in the same area.
"two nights in Toronto"
My wife and I spent two nights here in October . Although there was no view to speak of and despite previous reviews of small rooms, we found the room a perfectly acceptable size and it was clean. The hotel is superbly located just minutes from the subway station and 15 minute walk from the Eaton Centre. There is a large Loblaws supermarket next door in the old Maple Leaf stadium. There is a good size pool in the hotel and a tourist desk. If there at the weekend , would recommend the all day travel pass for $12.00 which gives two people unlimited travel on the subway, streetcars and buses. ( It's more expensive weekdays). There have been tripadvisor reviews of homeless folk nearby but this is not uncommon in Toronto and we felt perfectly safe and comfortable. There is on site underground parking entered from the rear of the hotel at $28 per night. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel, interestingly we noted a number of airline crews also staying here.
Hotel was well located, close to all amenities, and the room was clean and adequately supplied. Staff were excellent helping with recommendations and flight connections. The bar is a little on soulless side but was only there on one occassion.
