De elegantie van het hotel is doorgevoerd in de kamers: zorgvuldig ontworpen met de charme van het eiland, fijne stoffen en doordachte details. Voor wie zijn kamer wil verlaten zijn er tal van zonovergoten plekjes waar u heerlijk kunt ontspannen. Ter afkoeling kunt u een duik nemen in het grote zwembad (met voor de kleintjes een ondiep gedeelte) of de lagune. De kust is ideaal om te snorkelen en te duiken. Bij het hotel is ook genoeg te doen: speel een rondje petanque, beachvolleybal, tennis of tafeltennis. Neem deel aan een yoga-, Thai Chi- of Qigong-sessie in de buitenlucht of speel een partijtje golf. Na 'gedane arbeid' kunt u terecht bij La Cuisine met een mengeling van Creoolse, Indische en Chinese gerechten. De Orangine serveert culinaire hoogstandjes en La Plage houdt het bij de traditionele, Creoolse keuken.

Saint Gilles les Bains is een dorpje gelegen langs de westkust van La Réunion en is zeker een bezoek waard tijdens uw vakantie La Réunion, het is namelijk de meest populaire badplaats van het hele eiland. Hier kunt u uitstekend surfen bij de surfplekken Boucan Canot en Roches Noires.

"Great stay "

We stayed here one night and the service was great .we had a dinner reservation in LA plage and the food was high quality and our waitress was Luke and he was awesome and served us without a mistake in our order

"A big disappointment"

LUX* Saint Gillies is one of the only few five-star hotels on Reunion Island. I had high hope for it but it turned out to be a big disappointment. I am not sure if this hotel is always like this or it's because its Labour Day holiday and it's fully booked. But below is definitely what I expected from a five star hotel carrying LUX* brand: 1. Extremely slow check-in: our check-in process took around 1 hour where we were finally told that our room was not ready. During that one hour, we were just asked to wait in the lobby without having lunch and waiting hungrily. 2. Good lunch food not possible without reservation: there are only 1 restaurant and 1 pool bar open for lunch. The restaurant was fully booked and the pool bar food was expensive and didn't taste good. We spent 75 EUR on food & drinks on stuff like sandwiches and finger foods, not even with alcholic drinks. 3. Poor facilities: when we finally checked in our room, our phone was broken. There's no way we can call the front desk. We had to make multiple trips to the front desk to tell them about our problems. The phone was finally fixed late evening but we were all exhausted. Wifi didn't work at all in our room. The staff said no one would fix it that day and we could only go to the lobby if we wish to use wifi. They said some of their rooms had this problem for some time and we couldn't change room as it was fully booked. I am just wondering why this was not fixed if this problem has existed quite some time 4. Poorly attended to beach and pools - no bodyguards or watchovers. Be extra careful if you are with kids 5. Poorly attended to masssage/fitness center - I was standing in the massage center for 5 minutes before a male staff showed up. He then asked if I spoke French, but sorry I spoke only English so he asked me to wait. Then another 5 minutes went by, no one showed up at all. I then decided that I wouldn't book massage here anyways. I couldn't wait to check out and leave the hotel the next morning. With that said, there are still some good points that you need to give credits to this hotel: 1. Dinner at Orangine, one of the fine dining restaurants for dinner, exceptionally good - price is decent and food worths every penny you paid - we spent EUR 100 and greatly satisfied, much better than the EUR75 spent for nothing for lunch 2. Room is clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff are friendly and attend to our requests swiftly Hope the above issues can help the fellow travellers and for management team to make improvements to more businesses going forward.

"Fabulous Hotel"

We stayed at the Lux for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. The service at the Lux was very good, staff were very attentive and responsive. When we arrived we were taken to our room which had lovely flowers decorated in each room and a chilled bottle of wine to celebrate our wedding. We also had a very romantic dinner at the Orangerie that was organised for us - totally wonderful. There were some lovely touches at this hotel: cinema outside, home made ice cream, phone home booth, wishing tree. Great facilities, spa, gym, pool, beach and organised tours. Don't miss the helicopter tour of Reunion - spectacular! Also thank you to our great tour guide Eddie who showed us round the volcano and southern Reunion. The buffet dinner and breakfast were great - especially good was the dessert selection. We both felt at one with nature at the Lux. Beautiful gardens and birds. Very natural beach setting. There was also no service levy at this hotel and meals and drinks were reasonably priced. Only a couple of criticisms, sun loungers need an upgrade - no sponge padding! Also ate at the La Plage restaurant one evening and the service and food were not so good. Overall, a must stay if visiting Reunion. This hotel made our honeymoon very special.

"Let down by minor details"

Although this is a five star hotel it seemed to miss the spot for me in terms of luxury. The rooms are quite basic, a bit drab in colour and style and poorly lit. The bed, linen and towels were extremely comfortable and the rooms are very clean.. Paint is flaking from the outside of the buildings and there are potentially quite dangerous loose paving stones. Wifi was a joke, even right at reception. We also had to duck conference break out sessions to get some peace on some days. The location is superb with a beautiful lagoon created by a coral reef for your beach. The pool is a good as it looks in the pictures. It's a good location for a touring base too. Food was decent but way, way overpriced. The best part of our stay was the people. The hotel staff are just brilliant, particularly Patricia, the concierge. None of the niggles spoiled our holiday and I would probably go back, but with a clearer expectation. Reunion itself is a fantastic place to go; great scenery and welcoming people.

Very good hotel, the most luxurious of the island with direct access to the lagoon beach, pool (including child pool) and many other facilities Multiple restaurant, just that the hotel is not easy to find
