"Great service and boat cruise"

This lodge is lovely we started our Africa trip here and it was a great intro to the continent for us. We saw elephants and hippos and many beautiful birds on the cruise as well as having yummy snacks and great service so would really recommend it. Also the adventure Centre team are very helpful and offered lots of advice on what to see in the area.

"Wonderful memories."

This resort has an old world elegance set in a charming location supported by a group of people who will make you feel at home. There is the more contemporary Anantara up the road, but I prefer old world character when visiting world heritage sites. I must hat tip Conde Nast for pointing me in this Lodge’s direction. Our room facing the Zambezi was lovely, comfortable with an excellent bathroom. I like my room cold and the aircon did not let us down. Food is superb and it’s unlikely that anyone will not find plenty they like. The local beer is good: Mosi. We did the hotel’s night cruise on the Zambezi. US$75 a head, all drink and food included. This is not to be missed. Dining and the bar is all al fresco. This may make you think bugs, bugs, bugs. But we had no issues with them. See below for more details on bugs. There is a small infinity type pool, although we didn’t use it...no time. Although we had a short stay, the staff were on top of supporting us in our frenzied list of things to get done before we left. To our driver, Victor, our cruise host Frederick, O’Mali who kept us watered, Sharon and the many others who kept us fed, our thanks. Couple of general visit tips. Currency. Just use US$. Prices are similar to the West. We flew into Livingston (Zambia) – check whether you need a visa or not. It’s expensive. Airport is very efficient but has no free wi-fi or business lounge. Our hotel organised a taxi to and from the airport. US$20 seems to be the set fee. It’s a good distance, so is reasonable. Taxi was punctual and the driver a friendly chap. Victoria Falls is actually a series of falls. Depending on what time of year you turn up, not all of them will be in action...lack of rain. The falls start from the Zimbabwe side, so if you arrive like us in November, all the action is over there. You can still see it...but it’s afar. Bugs. You are in the bush. There are lots of them. I had read of warning of large amounts of mosquitoes before we arrived; we bought Tabbard to protect ourselves. The bugs are very loud, very active, but only once did I hear a mosquito buzz in my ear and that was at the falls. Neither of us got bitten. The hotel staff were quick to jump in and support with bug spray when I hadn’t brought any down from our room...thank you! You can cross a bridge into Zimbabwe, but you must get a visa. Again check the cost and the amount of time it might take. Namibia and Botswana are very near...about 7 miles. For people wanting to step into an extra couple of countries...go for it...but again check visa requirements and costs.

"Great Lodge near Victoria Falls"

Lovely, picturesque lodge near Victoria falls. Lodge is set along river and among tress with laws and beautiful landscaping. Veranda and patio over looking river with views of birds, boats, elephant crossings. Rooms have deck with river view, shutters to keep out heat and sun, mosquito netting over beds, great bath and shower with plenty of hot water. Many vervet monkeys scampering about, many mothers with tiny babies clinging to their tummies. Numerous birds and lovely landscaping. Excellent buffet for dinner and breakfast, very gracious and helpful staff. Took the helicopter ride over the falls and into the gorge, an experience not to be missed as it gave a thrilling view of the falls, much better than from the ground and impressive views of the gorge with better understanding of the rock formations and the formation of the gorges and falls. Wonderful overnight stay.

"Great location and views"

The lodge is located in the park with great views on the Zambezi. The pool is great to watch the sunset from. The rooms are comfortable with AC working well (not very typical for many other places in Zambia). The restaurant offers nice views, Dinner buffet offered, but on certain days there is no alternative to order from the menu. There is a small gym with rather old equipment and lots of mosquitoes. Overall nice place to stay. Wifi worked at the public places.

"My happy and sad moments at David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa"

The hotel and the amenities are great but a lot of work still needs to be done to train some of the staff in hospitality as well as some of the management of staff. There were a few incidences of gusts of strong winds which took toll on the umbrellas and could pose a risk to people sheltering below them.
