"Pleasurable but expensive"
We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the great service we received. The setting is gorgeous and our room was comfortable. The food was not the highlight of our stay though. A shuttle bus made it easy to get to town, the falls and other attractions.
"Pretty Property, Friendly People"
The rooms are a bit small, but have a nice little terrace. Clean, the people are nice. There is a daily breakfast and dinner buffet and you can also order from a full menu at least for lunch and dinner (I didn't try it for breakfast as they have an inclusive, extensive buffet). They offer river cruises and dinner entertainment. Very nice place. Also close by (walking distance) to town and you can do other things or go to dinner at local restaurants. Bring cash as they ATM's are out of money most of the time in Victoria Falls.
"Overpriced for a mediocre experience."
Stayed here for 8 days and overall, pretty comfortable stay. But at best, this is a 3-star rated hotel or 3.25 at best. PROS: Right on the waterfront and you can see wild animals all the time. A baboon came on my patio even. The staff is friendly. The rooms are fairly modern. I enjoyed the bed, the bath was pretty clean but the shower wasn't. The hair dryer was broken. CONS: As I mentioned, the staff was friendly but OVERLY friendly. I told one person I was sick and it was passed around to the entire staff. I must have had 4 calls and 3 knocks on my door a day which got really annoying. I felt like I was being stalked and they were all staring at me. When I had breakfast, so many staff members interrupted my meals including a manager who asked to called and asked to talk to me and i said ill talk to her when i checked out and then she showed up at my breakfast and asked to sit down! I talked to her in very short answers cause I didn't want her to see how sick I was and then she walked away and called her manager over. I was so irritated. I understand they just want to be accommodating but I was extremely sick and they knew that and I just wanted to be left alone. The food was really mediocre and the menu limited. I got sick of eating it 8 days in a row. The balconies are all linked together and I was walking around in my room my underwear when a gardener passed through my patio to water a plant on my balcony! I was stunned. That should never happen - if you need to water plants, only do it when the rooms are open or being cleaned. You should not be allowed on my balcony and invade my privacy. I immediately wrote a note back to the hotel about that and they did assure it wouldn't happen again, which it didn't while I was there. While I was sick, I could only stay in my room and watch tv and go on the internet. The tv had very limited channels. And the internet was very messed up. It didn't work half the time. It was really annoying to pay $190/night for such sub-par experience! I'm very disappointed I paid that much. If you stay here, close your glass door before 6pm! No one told me so I had my screen door closed and not the glass door. Come 6pm, I was going to close the door only to see tons of green bugs on my screen and I couldn't close the door because they would come flying in. I saw I had no choice so I did it as fast as I could and a bunch got in. I had to call front desk and someone came in right away to exterminate the bugs. I'm glad they are so fast but just beware if you don't like things flying around in your room.
"Should only have three stars"
Many things weren't in the room. Hair dryer. Safety box. Moskito repellent. Mirror in bathroom. Laundry way too expensive. Pavement not suited for wheelchair. Staff very friendly however. The price is too high considering the quality.
"Wonderful place to stay"
What a lovely place to stay, clean, neat and tidy, beautiful view of the Zambezi River, great food and friendly staff. A refreshing outdoor pool with a view of the Zambezi River for a cool off dip and relax on those hot days after a day out doing activities, there is a free shuttle service to certain drop off and pick up points in Victoria falls town and to the Victoria Falls Rainforest and the lodge also has free WIFI. Warthogs graze in the gardens, monkeys in the trees, they even have a resident hippo that visits late at night/early morning, request a wakeup call to see him or you will just see his giant footprints on the grass in the morning. During our stay we had an elephant visit which was a beautiful sight. There is lovely African entertainment every night with sundowners and dinner. We will definitely stay at A'Zambezi again on our next trip.
