Over A'Zambezi River Lodge

Our favorite

A'Zambezi is gebouwd in Afrikaanse stijl.

"A great introduction to Zimbabwe"

We were able to use Hotels.com to get a discounted night for our stay at Vic Falls (where everything is very expensive) and chose this lodge because of its location. It was a good deal nicer than most of the mid-range places we typically stay at. The staff was really outstanding - from the guest relations folks to the bag carriers to the waiters - everyone was trying to be helpful at all times, but not in an intrusive or annoying way. The front desk helped us to arrange getting over to Zambia early in the morning and provided helpful advice throughout. In all of our travels in the region, the staff at this place really stood out. Our room was spotless, and aside from a somewhat lethargic air conditioning unit was really nice - small but functional, with river views and unbelievable water pressure. The location away from the town makes it impossible to walk to the park, but shuttle service is provided 5x / day. Unfortunately this doesn't begin until 9am, so we had to take a taxi ($12, not a big deal, everything was arranged by the office) but we were able to catch the shuttle back. But I think this location is preferable anyway, so it's worth the distance. They also have an arrangement with a local company for excursions - we didn't use them aside for an airport transfer, but it seems very easy and convenient. The only major downside to the place is the restaurant - which looks nice, but we felt that the food was really, really overpriced for the buffet. I can imagine this being frustrating if you are staying for more than a couple of nights, because dinner for a couple (without drinks) is by default going to be $80. But for one night it did not seem like a big deal, and the food quality was good, even if the options were not necessarily what we wanted. Overall, this place is great if it is in your price range and you are looking for reliable service and a great location. The distance to the falls is a minor inconvenience, but I think the setting makes it worth it! We would definitely not hesitate to stay here again.

"Perfect for a relaxed getaway"

This river lodge is perfect if you love a holiday by the water - ideallt located by the river. it is well maintained and the staff members are polite. I had dinner there and I liked the variety of the menu. the pool area is lovely and the infrastructure maintains this tropical/ island theme. its peaceful and quiet there

"Ideal Function place"

With proper planning and budget, this can be a great place for a memorable function from weddings, conferences and business expos. Ideally located close to the river bank, clients are treated to beautiful nature views. I thoroughly enjoyed cold beverages on a hot day by the outside bar.

"Great location on the river"

We enjoyed our time at A'Zambezi River Lodge. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the room and common areas were very clean. I liked having the hotel away from the main area of town. We had breakfast and dinner at the lodge and the food was very good. The dinner buffet was a bit expensive but we they did offer fresh-grilled crocodile and warthog.

"Very Comfortable Stay"

We stayed at the A'Zambezi River Lodge, the last two nights of a three week African adventure. The hotel is modern and the staff very friendly. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus that will drop you at the falls or in town. We had the buffet breakfast on two mornings and found it to be good, there was a person cooking eggs to order. We went to the common area one evening to have a drink, and were driven away by the mosquito's, so don't forget to spray yourself with repellent before going out at night. The warthogs wandering the grounds are a nice touch as is the entertainment in the evening. The grounds are well kept and lovely. Our room was clean, and on the first floor, so we had a small patio with two chairs and a table outside. The room came with a small refrigerator, that had two bottles of water each day. We also had a coffee maker. The mosquito net around the bed was useful, and the room steward would spray the room in the evening when they did the turn down service. We had WiFi in the room that worked very well. The only problem we encountered was no hot water in the shower during the early evening hours. The next day we took earlier showers and had hot water. The people who took later showers, again, did not have hot water. All in all we had a very comfortable stay.
