Spent a couple of weeks driving around Nova Scotia and stayed here both at the start and end of our trip. The hotel is in a great location and walking distance to most of the tourist attractions in town. Parking - as many have mentioned they have limited number of spaces on site. They cannot be reserved in advance however once you are allocated a space it is yours for the duration of your stay. Hotel - it is split over 3 adjoining buildings. So if you are not in the 'main' building you have to walk outside to reach reception and the breakfast room. Very easy and not an issue. There are stairs to most rooms but OK for most. Staff are on hand and willing to help with cases if required. Rooms - on both occasions we had a spacious room with a large bed and fairly modern bathroom containing a bath with overhead shower. The bed was extremely comfortable, great linen and in the bathroom likewise for the towels, toiletries, etc. Breakfast - buffet style and fairly basic. There are no cooked items apart from beans and boiled eggs. Otherwise there is sufficient to choose from in the form of cereals, yoghurts, fruit salad, ham, bread, etc. All of a good quality and fresh. Staff - these guys are amazing and really really top class. Especially the young dark haired lady in reception. She is brilliant and so helpful. Wi-Fi - free and with a good quality connection. There is also a computer next to reception should you prefer to use that plus there is a printer for doing those boarding passes! Overall, a very good hotel and one we would stay in again. Dining: We ate at a few restaurants in Halifax including: Piatto Pizzeria just a few doors down. Very good if you just want something quick and not expensive Salty's - excellent upmarket establishment. Booking recommended Five Fishermen - again, an excellent upmarket restaurant. "Comfortable hotel in a good location"
Booked the Halliburton for a couple of nights and found it to be in a great location. As seniors, Halifax is a bit of a struggle with the inclines but the Halliburton was just perfect, with some nice restaurant/bar choices on Barrington just around the corner and a block and a half to the waterfront. The Halliburton appears to be three separate but inter- connected buildings. we were in the 'original' hotel which gave us the benefit of being right where the reception and breakfast room is. The room was small but really comfortable. A few stairs , even to the first floor but the hotel staff were extremely helpful in carrying bags up. The breakfast was buffet style but plenty of options and definitely a good start to the day. They have a garden area that is very quiet where you can drink your favourite beverage. Parking's a bit tight at the rear, so be prepared to practice your parking skills. I have to say, that the staff, were the most helpful and friendly that we've experienced in a long time - so we would strongly recommend the Halliburton.
"Good central location but?"
The Halliburton is in a great location, convenient for the waterfront and the main Halifax attractions, however, our accommodation in this traditional boutique hotel felt old fashioned and somewhat dated. The double bed was exactly that, a standard double bed, which was a pity as the room would have easily taken a larger bed, the cupboard door didn't shut, there was no lift and we had to carry our luggage up a number of flights of stairs. A small step into the room was no problem, but remembering it was there when stepping out of the room was. The hotel offers a number of rooms in different buildings, perhaps we were just unlucky.
"Unique and historic, great location, up the street up from waterfront"
Halliburton Inn was a nice find. The Inn is historic and unique while only a couple of streets up from the waterfront. We easily walked down to one of the main restaurant areas. We ate at the Bicycle Thief, very good seafood / Italian. The Inn has a number of stairs with some being very narrow. The bathroom had a window thus very good lighting. Everything was clean and fresh. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Bonus was the on-site parking, first come but also had access to parking lot nearby, free until 9 am. The Inn also has a small highly rated restaurant "Stories". Unfortunately restaurant is closed on Mondays (day of our stay). Overall the Inn was very convenient and comfortable, had nice patios out back.
Excellent and lived up to its reputation with lovely rooms and great service. The restaurant is expensive but probably the best place to eat in Halifax and has not been beaten during two weeks in Nova Scotia.
