Over Deerhurst Resort

While the staff was very friendly, accommodating and professional, the resort was clean but is showing its age. More information regarding the availability of the restaurants and buffet availability during reservation (one of four restaurants open the first night and "modified" breakfast buffet on the first morning) would have been appreciated along with a cooler room at night. Due to the weather (warm weather all week and constant rain during our stay) had melted ice for skating and poor conditions for XC Skiing and show Shoeing, while was not the fault of the resort, did influence my rating. Had the weather allowed us access to outdoor winter activities, we would have enjoyed our stay more than we did.
It's really a pity that Deerhurst has lost so much of its sparkle. The Bayshore is tired and the mattresses need to be replaced, the Fitness Centre is pathetic--not even a water cooler in the former raquet ball court, the food was average. Awesome staff however.
"We got kind of bored after the first day at deerhurst. The weather didn't cooperate for us while we were there"
And there was a lack of activities to make up for the outdoor activities not being accessible. I would recommend deerhurst if the weather is in your favour but otherwise, not so much. Unless you have kids I guess. There was rock climbing and an arcade and the pool of course.
Was a good time however the building down by telephone water outside the main building is 10 min walk. Very inconvenient for using pool and restaurants. There was also a event going on while we were there. Would have been nice to know as I would have picked a different week. No parking set out for trailers and sled which is crazy seeing the amount of snowmobiles that go there. No shuttle was running Friday so if u are not in the main building your screwed and have to drive back and forth or walk.
"Deerhurst Experience with a toddler"
We were amazed on how beautiful the resort was but were sad with the weather as we were unable to do a lot of the winter activities that were part of our special winter getaway package. Front desk service was able to decrease our room fee as we were unable to use the Arrow Head Park pass. We did find that the prices of food, coffee and excursions were expensive. The food was delicious but had been to fancier places but were charged less than what the resort had. We had purchased two hot beverages at the shop a cappuccino and hot chocolate made by a keurig type of machine and it cost us $7 which is ridiculous. Might as well have gone to a starbucks in the city for that price. The sleigh ride which was almost $50 for two adults and a 15month old was fun as it got us outdoors but for a simple ride around a golf course which lasted about 20mins was nothing that impressive, when they originally said it would be an hour activity. And it was disappointing as we had booked it that morning, activities guy told us to come at 2:45 to register for the 3:15 sleigh ride, get to the stables and the horses had been put away so we had to wait about 20minutes for them to get things ready. Wish they had more activities during the week for families and kids who stay during the week. Our room was clean and comfortable. Grounds are kept well and all employees were helpful and friendly. Would love to return again when the kiddies are older and hopefully the weather is better!
