Huntsville is de uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan Algongquin Provincial Park.
Spent 2 nights. Room was ready, clean and very comfortable. Staff were all very very friendly. The young man who checked us in was extremely helpful, very welcoming and a pleasure to deal with. Beautiful scenery every where and great location. Huntsville just around the corner, walking trails. Great place for a few days or a week away. Usually hotel pools are a disaster but not here, very clean, big, convenient.
"Has improvements to do."
Our room was not ready for us when we arrived as they were defrosting the air-conditioner and water was all over the bathroom floor. Then once it was fixed they never sent anyone in to clean up the bathroom but just brought us towels as they used the towels that were there to place on the floor for the water. Dinner buffet was not up to standards for the price they charged. Our family made the best of it and had a great time but for our first time there it was kind of disappointing.
"We had a great time exploring the area via hikes and a canoe ride on Peninsula Lake."
We loved being right on the lake in the Bayshore building, first floor. The room itself was average but the chairs by the sliding door quickly became our favourite spot to sit and have tea while gazing at the picturesque landscape (despite the construction next door). There were several little things missing such as literature about the surrounding area and things to do, a nice pad of paper to write on, a dirty K-cup found in the coffee machine and no green tea available, even when requested. The fridge was much too small for us. The internet service was very poor, even after receiving help. The pool has a great atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed the buffet at the Eclipse restaurant, enjoyed too much of it, in fact. : ) Overall, our stay was enjoyable. We'll likely try something different if we come up again, although our kids would love the pool.
This is an excellent venue for a family get away during the shoulder season in the autumn. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking during the period when the leaf colours are changing and the views from the rooms relaxing. The dining options are family friendly, there is a large indoor pool suitable for children, a climbing wall, an arcade and other activities to entertain the family. The staff go out of their way to be welcoming and helpful.
"Night away with a friend"
Had a standard room in the main building with 2 queen beds. Room was a good size, beds were comfortable, and the separate sink outside of the bathroom was a great addition. Our balcony faced the parking lot. We decided to stay at the resort for dinner. There is a large main dining room that, unfortunately, was closed due to the time of the year. The lobby restaurant was open and about 1/3 full when we went for dinner. Previous experience with dining at Deerhurst is a hit and miss affair. Some dishes were really well done and others were pretty sub standard. We ordered drinks and then dinner. There was a "mix up" when one of our appetizers was inadvertently delivered to another table so we had to wait another 20 min or so again for ours. The Cesar salad was extremely bland and tasted more like a garden salad with 3 bagged croutons. My salmon portion was very small and dry...as if it had been sitting under the warming lights for some time however my friends trout dish was moist and very good. Due to a communication error my friend received a dessert that she didn't order. Overall, the wait staff was very pleasant although harried and unorganized even though the room was less than full. Unfortunately I felt ill following our meal that evening and for a portion of the following day with gastric issues. Overall the resort was nice but somewhat tired and could do with some sprucing up. I will continue to visit Deerhurst as the location is superb and the staff was more than willing to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
