"Glad we went for a second time"
We booked this hotel for the second time. We were there a few years ago and we found the second time around was just as good as the first. Room was clean and fairly modern with a nice view of the water. Highlight: We decided to take advantage of the Happy Hour at the bar and were glad we did. Delicious apps and drinks and our server bartender were top notch! Improvements/Suggestions: Maybe give more towels in the bathroom. Not a big deal and I'm sure we could have called for more but it would have been nice to have a couple more large towels in the room. The hot water was more warm water but it didn't make or break our stay, just would have made it better.
"Service Above and Beyond"
We ended up in Kingston for a couple nights following a car accident that took place on the 401 days after Christmas. The staff went above and beyond their responsibilities and displayed a touching level of humanity in support of the events that took place. Our room was comfortable and provided a much needed quiet space to rest following a difficult series of events. We're ever so grateful for their help and ability to accommodate us.
We paid a premium price because it was Queen’s homecoming , even though we were not there for this reason. So I understand that rooms were at a premium price. However for $500.00 per night, the room was very standard. The hotel entry very awkward , the main lobby not inviting at all. The bathroom was really the only update of the room that was nicely done. The water pressure very low. The elevators were very small and claustrophobic.
"Best View in Kingston, Great Breakfast, Walk to a Downtown"
If you want the best views of downtown and waterfront, you want a good breakfast(all you can eat all the fixins), and you want to be able to still walk downtown, look nowhere else. The hotel is clean, the area is safe and the staff were very helpful. Parking with the hotel can be expensive, if you are resourceful watch the parking signs and park on the streets.
"Great Hotel for Events"
Another successful company event at this hotel. They managed to get the temperature right in the Grandview room this year so people were neither freezing nor boiling. Good Job! The main dinner food was excellent as usual and they even prepared special meals for those that had food allergies. The breakfasts were a little too greasy (bacon, sausages, home fries, etc.) for my liking. I would also have preferred they don’t add cheese to the scrambled eggs, but that’s probably what our company organizer agreed to so not the hotel’s fault. Staff were excellent. I had a room on the 4th floor facing the harbour on the West side and had a beautiful view. Room was clean and comfortable. Water pressure was good and water quality was also great (not excessively chlorinated like some other city’s water.) Only complaint would be to have more power outlets in the meeting rooms or organizers to order power bars. Overall 4 days stay was excellent. Just a note: If you are planning to stay at this hotel, ask if there is a potentially noisy event planned in the Grandview room (e.g. dance with loud music). If yes, ask to get a room at the other end of the hotel. A few of us who were on the 3rd and 4th floor were able to hear the music from the Grandview room. I think there is a noise curfew at midnight so it was not a problem for most of us.
