"Very romantic weekend!"

The resort is beautiful, staff is very knowledgeable, and the food is amazing! I had a lovely romantic weekend with my husband. There are many activities to take part in during the winter and summer. We really enjoyed sitting by the fire with drinks and an appetizer. Highly recommend!

"Wonderful Family Weekend"

We enjoyed a wonderful four-day weekend in late February with our family of four (two kids five and under). Despite not getting the type of room we had arranged, and finding the one we were given instead to be quite a bit smaller, it did not become a problem at all, as there is so much to do outside of your room. The weather was beautiful and we were able to enjoy some fun outdoor activities - dog sledding is a must-do, and the tubing hill is so fun. The pool is beautiful but we found it chilly for a winter weekend. The spa staff were also lovely, and though there was a mix-up with our massage reservation, the woman at the desk was very accommodating and lovely, and the situation was rectified (and I enjoyed a relaxing massage). The food was expensive but was, for the most part, delicious. Breakfast buffets were wonderful - the maple crepes are incredible! The food was plentiful and fresh. Two of the dinners in the restaurant were fantastic. The French onion soup was amazing! The children's buffet was also very good, and as you had to walk all the way back to the main dining room each time they needed more food, this actually got the little kids up and moving during dinner, which was great! We ate lunch offsite at Le Bistro (also a great meal). Our final meal at Montebello was quite disappointing. We're quite sure the friendly young man who was serving our table forgot to punch in our order. Our kids were finished and literally falling asleep before we even received salads. He then avoided us completely, instead having food delivered, checked upon and cleared by different staff. Not the greatest service. However, other than that, we found service to be excellent at Montebello. I wanted to mention that we have several food allergies in our family, and we were concerned about eating at the hotel. They were very accommodating! At each and every meal, a chef was able to walk us around the buffet to explain what was and was not safe, and there were plenty of safe options. All but one of the chefs (who was clearly irritated with having to do so) were extremely helpful, which made for a safe and much more relaxing experience. (Thanks for taking the time to do this!) The hotel itself is quite stunning, in an historically Canadian way. Most definitely, there are areas which could use some refreshing. It was an incredibly relaxing environment, with the beautiful fireplace and comfortable seating areas in the main lobby. We spend a lot of time there, early in the morning with our young children, and playing board games around the fire in the evening. It did get quite busy on the Saturday as there were several weddings taking place - would be hard to find a relaxing lobby place to sit on a night like that. We had a wonderful weekend and will definitely be back. Special thanks to the gentleman who made the fires in the morning. My kids had a great time with you!

"Good, but expected better food"

First the good: great location, hotel is very well maintained, clean and with very nice decor. Plenty of activities for kids, regardless of the weather. Was packed when we went, but it did not feel crowded. The spa is amazing, and they treat you really well. Indoor pool is great, clean and at the perfect temperature. In-room small fridge, as well as tea pot and coffee maker with courtesy teas and coffees replenished daily was a nice surprise. Now the average: service was hit and miss. Mostly friendly staff, but about 20% of interactions were not as courteous as I would expect in a 4 star hotel. Now the bad: for the prices being requested, I would have expected much better food. It was average at best, with far above average prices. Hint: ask for a room that is not on the main indoor way to the indoor pool or spa. A lot of traffic in that corridor in winter. We will likely be back, as the place is gorgeous, and it has many activities for kids and adults, but will likely make an effort to try at least one restaurant per day outside the hotel.

"Don't miss the brunch"

Went for the brunch and it was worth the drive from Ottawa. Everything was, as it always is, up to the Fairmont standard. The hotel also provided a lot of things to do. From curling, dog sledding, to ice skating. Check this place out.

"The world's largest log cabin"

During our March break this year we had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at the Chateau, what an experience. The staff at the hotel are extremely pleasant and helpful. As you enter the lobby you are welcomed by a huge fireplace and the smell of cedar logs burning. Each fireplace is surrounded by comfy couches and chairs giving the lobby a warm and welcoming feeling. The rooms are rustic but with a touch of class. I found the rooms quite dimly lit. In addition to your room rate is a $25 resort rate that includes parking, wifi, pool access, curling, weight room, squash and tennis courts, cross country skiing, skating and walking paths. In addition you can pay extra for sliding rides, tubing and dog sled rides. You will not be left bored at this beautiful resort. The restaurants are pricey at the hotel but provide great food and service. The near by town of Montebello offers some delicious dining as well. We are anxious to return to this beautiful spot in Quebec.
